>Ultra Notables

I actually like this

I do like the idea of some kind of semi-persistent notable section that goes between the "per-bread' notables and the GLOBALS

essentially, for things that are going to span multiple breads

-a topic that remains notable for mutliple days with daily updates/ changes

-a dig with a lot of anon participation that flows over multiple breads

etcetera

>So would only work if the anon(s) proposing this are willing to support the thread

it doesnt have to tie to a seperate thread

it could just be a semi-persistent section that rolls forward from bread to bread until the item in it is no longer relevent

threads might be relevent for a significant enough dig that spans multiple days in the semi-persistent section, and finally establishes itself enough to need a thread

but the section doesnt necessarily need to be thread-based

exactly

the seperate threads are not generally for congreagating in

they are best (imo) used as a MORE PRESISTENT repository of information relevent to a specific subject of digging

buns from posts in the general bread are nice, but unless they keep getting posted every bread

they slide away

a dedicated thread is a nice place to keep everything from a bun, and keep adding to it over time

but the point is to bring that information back the general bread when you are active for sharing with ALL of the anons and lurkers who are here

>can keep it up in the doughs rather than try to maintain a new thread

THIS

exactly

making a thread for it is resource heavy and requires mainenence/ defending

a section in the notables dough would be lightweight and very usable

>I thought the CEMEX dig was going to take off again, but once Dayshift came in it was overlooked

this is exactly the "problem" I am looking to solve with this whole 'semi-persistent' section idea

it happens a lot

good digs with mutliple anons participating organically

they just fall appart after 2-3 bread change-overs

and once those SAME ANONS get back to the board the next day for their shift

its slid all the way out of the notables

this seems like a problem worth solving

>how would the posts be different from regular notables? got examples?

okay

so the first and biggest difference

this list does NOT go with a bread number

it is persistent across breads

so it doesn't slide down into previosly collected

biggest hurdles I see?

how do we somehow "agree" that something should go there

how do we somehow "agree" that something is 'done now' and should be removed

functionally, like all notables, its going to have to be bakers discretion at the end of the day

example:

dig "X"

dig X starts in bread #1

3 anons participate and it develops over the bread

a bun is made to colate the dig

the bun gets notabled

bread #2 the dig continues, develops, changes

the bun gets updated

new bun get notabled in bread #2

bread #3 rolls around and all the anons have left

4 more breads go bye and the bun is now in "previously collected" and essentially invisible

the 3 orriginal anons return the next day

dig back through the breads

re-post the bun

and continue the dig

if that bun lived in a semi-persistent section in the notables dough, it would be there when those three anons returned

and there would be a MUCH higher chance of 'other-shift' anons participating in this dig

agreed

>If you want long term Uber fucking Notables - Make a new bread just for those.

we used to use Globals like thisโ€ฆ

>As a result, International breads have been less visible than they once were.

this is true

and I would aquiesce that this is probably a bad thing

and that a compromise of bread slimness to improve visibility of internation breads would not be the worst thing in the world

I just see that slipperly slope looming over the horizon

/warroom/ section feelz

>suppose baker makes a controversial choice. can next baker reverse it?

exactly the kind of issue I see springing up as a result of this/

and I am all ears for brainstorming on ideas

I tend to 'err on the side of, baker on duty always gets to decide what they want to do

one baker "controversailly" removes something

if anons are persistent and LOGICAL enough, they actually convince next baker to add it back

no reason that baker cant add it back

I can obviously see this becoming a wedge

but the whole damn board is a wedge

it seems it would be a good idea to seperate such a section from the Globals if the globals are going to be strictly board announcements

baker on duty

>and why and what is the procedure for removal?

purely discretionary

based on metrics that will change from baker to baker

but I am open to a first principle that could pottentially be universally accepted given enough logical discussion

>As for Hang Time? How about 30 days

I am thinking more like a couple days

a week max unless there is ineraction/ updates

>how about at least four separate anon nominations for it to go in?

thats a lot harder to quantify than it sounds

and it just wont work in practice

its baker discretion, and I dare you to impose a rule over a baker on duty that doesnt want to follow it
