Texas Sen. John Cornyn on One Hour Delay for Police to Kill Uvalde School Shooter: “Complex scenarios require split second decisions. Easy to criticize with 20-20 hindsight”

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) commented on critics of the one hour delay for police to kill the Uvalde Robb Elementary School shooter, 18-year-ol Salvador Ramos, saying, “The second guessing and finger pointing among state and local law enforcement is destructive, distracting, and unfair. Complex scenarios require split second decisions. Easy to criticize with 20-20 hindsight.” 19 children and two teachers were massacred in Tuesday’s attack while officers waited in the school building for a ‘go’ order that never came. Fed up Border Patrol agents from a tactical unit reportedly went in on their own volition and killed Ramos.

There is no apparent mention on Cornyn’s Twitter feed of the children trapped in the school with the shooter who called 911 many times over the course of that deadly hour begging to be rescued by police.

Cornyn posted several tweets on the matter on Saturday:

“The second guessing and finger pointing among state and local law enforcement is destructive, distracting, and unfair. Complex scenarios require split second decisions. Easy to criticize with 20-20 hindsight…There will be plenty of time to sort this out later. Focus now should be on through investigation and lessons learned to prevent future tragedies, not finger pointing.”

‘Pure filth’: 9 suspects indicted in Ohio human trafficking investigation involving children

Nine people have been indicted in connection to a months-long human trafficking investigation involving multiple Ohio law enforcement authorities.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said the nine recent arrests occurred in the southern part of the state.

Arrests include:

Daniel Charles - One count of human trafficking, 20 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and compelling prostitution.

Caleb Clemens - One count of human trafficking, corruption of a minor and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Cody Dingey - One count of human trafficking and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Dustin Harlow - One count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Matthew Haynes - Pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He was sentenced to three years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender after his release release.

Tyler Matheney - One count of human trafficking, three counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Brian O’Neil - Pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one count of importuning. He will be sentenced on Aug. 2.

Dean Smith - Eight counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Rusty Campbell - One count of rape, five counts of human trafficking, 27 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

“This task force waded into a cesspool of ‘alleged men’ who were trafficking a juvenile victim and sexually exploiting children, pure filth,” Ohio Attorney General Yost said.

Officials initially launched an investigation in August 2021 after receiving information that Campbell was trafficking a child victim in exchange for money, methamphetamine, and other favors.

Task force officers also learned that Campbell was having sex with other children, creating child pornography, and then sharing videos of the sex abuse in online groups.

“Sexual abuse of children is one of the most heinous crimes that exists and sadly we are not immune from this evil in our community,” Morgan County Sheriff Douglas McGrath said.

Yost said the task force’s investigation is still ongoing as investigators work to identify additional suspects.

US general insists he is ‘apolitical’

“You’re not taking an oath to a dictator,” Joint Chiefs of Staff chair said

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley stressed the idea that the military must be apolitical during a speech at Princeton University and in a subsequent interview with Fox News on Friday, glossing over criticism that he has been anything but during his tenure in the cabinets of President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump.

“You’re not taking an oath to a dictator or wannabe dictator, or tyrant… you’re taking an oath to the Constitution of the United States of America,” Milley said at Princeton University’s ROTC Class of 2022 ceremony.

Repeatedly stressing that American servicemembers take an oath to “an idea” and “a document,” Milley assured the newly-minted cadets at his alma mater that their duty was only to the principles on which the US was founded.

While he acknowledged in his interview with Fox News' Brett Baier that he had considered resignation during his tenure under the former president, with whom his relationship was “rocky,” he doubled down on his previous insistence that his loyalty was to the Constitution – his “north star,” the “basic core essence of who [he is] as a soldier.”

“We have to be apolitical. We stay out of the politics of the day and we maintain our oath to the Constitution no matter what party is in power,” Milley said.

However, Milley’s own tenure in the cabinet of former president Donald Trump was criticized as hardly apolitical. The general reportedly pushed against Trump’s orders to withdraw from Afghanistan by January 15, 2021, ahead of the president’s departure from the White House, preventing him from fulfilling a campaign promise and ending the US’ longest war. He also allegedly reached out to both the Chinese Communist Party and US intelligence agencies during Trump’s last days to open back channels of dialogue without his knowledge or permission, according to journalist Bob Woodward.

Even a handful of Trump critics, including key impeachment figure Alexander Vindman, were disturbed to learn Milley had not only gone behind the president’s back but kept his job afterwards. Milley continues to serve under Biden and appears to have fully embraced the administration’s “diversity” and “anti-extremism” politics. He blamed the January 6 Capitol riot on “white rage” and has defended the teaching of critical race theory at West Point military academy. The general even apologized for walking next to Trump – Commander-in-Chief at the time – past Lafayette Park in June 2020 after the space had been cleared of Black Lives Matter demonstrators.
