Mastercard CEO: SWIFT Payment System May Be Replaced By CBDCs In Five Years

There has been a long list of revelations coming out of the recent World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, but one issue that might have gone under the media radar involves comments by Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach during a discussion on the future of cross-border payments between nations.

Miebach, participating in a panel on Central Bank Digital Currencies at the WEF and hosted by the Global Blockchain Business Council, was one of the few participants that was willing to suggest that the SWIFT system, long dominated by western interests, might be made obsolete along with the proliferation of digital currencies among central banks.

Initially dismissed as “conspiracy theory” only a few years ago by the media, whispers of CBDCs have suddenly gone mainstream and blockchain technologies took center stage at Davos in 2022. The Federal Reserve has even started active public discussions assessing the case for retail digital currency products.

French journalist killed in Ukraine

Frederic Leclerc-Imhoffwas “fatally shot” while covering the conflict, France’s President Emmanuel Macron confirmed

A French journalist working for BFMTV news channel was killed in Ukraine on Monday after his vehicle reportedly came under fire in the eastern city of Severodonetsk in the Lugansk region.

The death of Frederic Leclerc-Imhoff has been confirmed by French President Emmanuel Macron, who wrote on Twitter that the journalist had been “fatally shot” while trying to show “the reality” of the military conflict in Ukraine.

Macron stated that the journalist had been on board a humanitarian bus alongside civilians “forced to flee from Russian bombs.” He offered his condolences to the family, relatives and colleagues of Leclerc-Imhoff, and promised “France’s unconditional support” to those who carry out the “difficult mission of reporting from the theaters of operations.”

The French foreign ministry has also commented on the journalist’s death, and has called for an immediate and transparent inquiry into the circumstances of the incident.

According to BFMTV, 32-year-old Leclerc-Imhoff was on his second reporting trip to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s offensive. He was fatally hit by shrapnel, the channel said in a statement.

Russia attacked the neighboring state in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, first signed in 2014, and Moscow’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German- and French-brokered protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state.

The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force.

Bloomberg reports Brazilians are spending a whopping 33% of the monthly minimum wage to fill up a 14.5-gallon fuel tank. The figure is 24% in Mexico, 18% in Argentina, 17% in Chile, and 13% in Colombia.

No Charges for FBI Agents Who ‘Covered’ for Child Rapist with 500 Victims, Allowing Him to Continue to Prey on Kids

A massive case involving over a hundred women and girls shined a light on the horrid sexual abuse and cover-up that took place within the USA Gymnastics program. For decades children were “sacrificed” and their abusers “protected,” according to one of the victims. In 2017, the man at the center of the depravity pleaded guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault against children and was sentenced to decades behind bars. We would later find out that the FBI knew about the abuse and allowed the depraved child predator, Larry Nassar, to continue preying on little girls for more than a year after finding out.

Despite these facts, the U.S. Justice Department (DOJ) on Thursday announced that it will adhere to a previous decision not to charge the two former FBI agents involved in the mishandled investigation.

“This decision comes after multiple reviews and analyses of evidence gathered in the investigation of the former agents, and reflects the recommendation of experienced prosecutors,” the DOJ statement reads.

“This does not in any way reflect a view that the investigation of Nassar was handled as it should have been, nor in any way reflect approval or disregard of the conduct of the former agents.”

The horrid nightmare that is sexual abuse within the US Olympic gymnastics program was brought to light in 2016 when former gymnast Rachael Denhollander called for a regime change within the organization. Denhollander is one of more than 125 victims, including US Olympic champion and three-time gold medalist, Aly Raisman, who came forward with evidence of cover-ups and abuse.

According to a report from the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Justice, the Indianapolis FBI office facilitated this abuse as it violated agency procedures, made false statements and exhibited “extremely poor judgment” in the handling of 2015 sexual abuse allegations against Nassar.

“Senior officials in the FBI Indianapolis Field Office failed to respond to allegations of sexual abuse of athletes by former USA Gymnastics physician Lawrence Gerard Nassar with the urgency that the allegations required,” the inspectors general’s office said in a statement.

“We also found that the FBI Indianapolis Field Office made fundamental errors when it did respond to the allegations, failed to notify the appropriate FBI field office (the Lansing Resident Agency) or state or local authorities of the allegations, and failed to take other steps to mitigate the ongoing threat posed by Nassar.”

As USA Today reported at the time, in a joint interview with USA TODAY Sports and the Associated Press, Raisman said revelations of widespread abuse by longtime team physician Larry Nassar and the reaction by the governing bodies has colored how she views her sport.

“The people at the very top, that work at the office every single day at USA Gymnastics, they need to do better,” Raisman said.

Joe Biden on Memorial Day: ‘The Constitution, the Second Amendment Was Never Absolute’

President Joe Biden pushed for more gun control on Monday, even though it was Memorial Day, a national patriotic holiday.

“The Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute,” Biden said to reporters.

The president spoke to reporters about gun control as he returned to Washington, DC, from Delaware for Memorial Day ceremonies.

Biden falsely claimed again that Americans were unable to purchase a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed, despite being repeatedly fact-checked as false by even the Washington Post and Politifact.

“You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed and you couldn’t go out and purchase a lot of weapons,” he said.

Biden recalled a briefing he had when he was a senator on bullet calibers and the damage they caused to the human body.

“The 22 caliber bullet will lodge in the lungs and we can get it out,” Biden said. “A 9 mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.”

“The idea of a high caliber weapon, there is no rationale for it in terms of self-protection, hunting,” he said.

Biden also referred to a quote from Thomas Jefferson who said “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants,” tying it in with his argument about the Second Amendment.

“There was a while there, where people were saying, you know, the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots, and what we have to do is to be able take on the government when they are wrong,” Biden said.

Biden argued in order for citizens to hold the government accountable with equal levels of force, Americans would have to own a fighter jet or a tank.

Hungary busts massive Israeli-led fraud and money laundering ring

Promising ‘good returns’ on cryptocurrency investment, gang cheats victims out of tens of millions of dollars; less than $2 million recovered so far

Hungarian police busted an international money-laundering ring based in Hungary earlier this month that was led by an Israeli man that cheated people in dozens of countries through online investment frauds, police said Monday.

Around 44 million euros ($47 million) were transferred from some 94 companies set up by the gang, police spokesman Peter Farkas told reporters in Budapest.

The gang was led by a 48-year-old Israeli man living in Hungary, one of five suspects arrested during coordinated raids on May 9 across Hungary.

The fraud schemes were typically online and related to so-called “account-switching” and cryptocurrency investments, said Farkas, speaking at a press conference where seized phones, laptops and some 250 SIM cards were on display.

Cars and jewelry were also confiscated.

“Investments with good returns were promised to people who then transferred monies to over 400 fraudulent bank accounts,” he said.

The money was “quickly transferred onward,” mainly to countries east of Hungary, said Farkas, without specifying where.

Police have so far recovered some 1.8 million euros ($1.94 million) from the 44 million euros, he added.

Biden education head defends biological boys in girls sports, not telling parents about trans kids

Education Secretary Michael Cardona also testified that the Biden administration supports giving federal financial aid to "Dreamers."

President Joe Biden's Education Secretary Michael Cardona said biological males should be able to compete against girls in school sports and that schools should not have to tell parents about their child's gender transition.

During a House Education and Labor Committee hearing on Thursday, Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) asked Cardona how his department could adhere to Title IX, which is meant to protect women and stop sex-based discrimination, while his agency is "currently pushing a rule to force every school in America to add 'non-binary' as a sex characteristic."

Cardona said the administration is not encouraging the non-binary category but is "allowing states to report whatever classifications they have in their states."

"Mr. Secretary, do you believe that biological male athletes competing in women's sports are in conflict with Title IX protections for female athletes?" Banks followed up.

Cardona responded that he wants to talk about the budget and he is "proud of the Title IX regulations."

When pressed further by Banks, the secretary responded, "I believe all children should have an opportunity to engage in extracurricular activities."

The Indiana Republican said the Biden administration has "decimated Title IX" and asked whether it is "fair or not for biological boys to compete against girls in sports."

"I believe all students should have access to sport[s]," Cardona replied, as the exchange heated up.

"So do you support biological boys competing against girls in sports?" Banks asked.

"I believe I answered the question," Cardona answered, adding, "I believe transgender girls should have access to sports."

The secretary said, "Our transgender students need to feel supported, included and seen and your, your line of questioning is, is, even by describing it the way you're doing it, shows me that you don't believe that all students should have access to, to the extracurricular activities that schools provide."

Banks changed the topic to ask about the administration's stance on keeping a student's gender transition secret from their parents.

"I would love to answer questions on the budget, which is why I'm here," Cardona responded.

"These are policies that your administration stands behind," the Indiana congressman fired back. "You're asking me to fund your budget, and these are policies that you stand for. It's completely relevant to why you're here today."

It is best to work with parents, Cardona acknowledged, but added, "Our schools are safe places for our students, and our teachers are often the front-liners when it comes to supporting students."

Cardona testified that the Biden administration supports giving federal financial aid to "Dreamers," or illegal immigrants brought to the United States as minors.

Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wisc.) asked about the Biden administration's stance on providing "free or almost free college for people here illegally."

"The Biden administration has been very clear that we do support ensuring Dreamers have an opportunity for federal financial aid, including the Pell Grant," Cardona replied. "These are students who are making a big difference in their communities."

The education secretary made headlines earlier this year after reports surfaced that he solicited the controversial National School Boards Association letter last fall that conflated concerned parents with domestic terrorists.

The development comes after the United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on what it described as a Russian-backed oil smuggling and money laundering network for Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force. …

U.S. advocacy group United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), which monitors Iran-related tanker traffic, said the Pegas had loaded around 700,000 barrels of crude oil from Iran’s Sirri Island on Aug. 19, 2021.

Prior to this load, the Pegas transported over 3 million barrels of Iranian oil in 2021, with over 2.6 million of those barrels ending up in China, according to UANI analysis.

In 2020, Washington confiscated four cargoes of Iranian fuel that were bound for Venezuela and transferred them with the help of undisclosed foreign partners onto two other ships which then sailed to the United States. …

Their article closed by saying that: “Nicholas Heras, an expert on Syria with the Center for a New American Security [CNAS], … said, ‘the Pentagon is making contingencies for a big fight with Russia for Syria’s oil.'” Perhaps the intention of that article was to help build Americans’ support for stealing Syria’s oil. (The CNAS is a Democratic Party think tank, and was there endorsing the Republican President Trump’s operation to steal Syria’s oil — it’s a bipartisan goal of the U.S. Government.) By contrast, two days later, Russia’s Sputnik News headlined about America’s thefts of oil from Syria, “The Russian military described the US scheme as nothing less than ‘international state banditism.'” (Russia had no need to deceive anyone about that.)

US Would Be Maintaining Biolabs In Indonesia

After the Russian reports concerning biolabs in Ukraine, the topic of bioweapons research has gained global notoriety, resulting in great scrutiny. It did not take long to realize that Eastern Europe is not the only region on the planet chosen by the US to operate this type of clandestine activity. Now, evidence points to the existence of biolaboratories in Indonesia, increasing even more the concerns of the entire international society with this threat.

Before biological military research became commonplace in newspapers around the world, Indonesia was already a country that accumulated concerns about this topic. For decades, a laboratory of the NAMRU-2 (Naval Medical Research Unit Two) project operated in Jakarta. This Navy military research program is dedicated to operating biomedical activities in several countries on the Asian continent and worked in Indonesia between 1970 and 2009, when it was finally closed after the country’s government declared the existence of this type of unit as a threat to national sovereignty. The main problem is that there is evidence that, despite the official closure of the laboratory, US activities have not actually ended, with current biological research possibly going on in Indonesia without authorization from the local government.

Last month, the Indonesian newspaper Detik published an article denouncing the alleged continuity of operations, stating that at least since 2016, when US military activities in the region intensified due to Pacific Partnership drills, secret research has been maintained. Documents and photos from such drills allegedly obtained by local investigative journalists were exposed in the article, proving the existence of the research. At the time, aboard the hospital ship USS Mercy, three dogs infected with rabies and twenty-three Indonesian nationals were transferred from West Sumatra and navigated across the coast of Padang without prior authorization from the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

At first, the repercussion of the news was low, but the case gained credibility and visibility after recent statements by Fadila Supari, a renowned Indonesian cardiologist, with award-winning research at the WHO, and former minister of health of the country. According to her, although there are little documentary proofs, there is clear evidence that such activities actually continue to take place in Indonesia. She also believes that the events of the 2016 drills were not an isolated situation, but just an episode among several clandestine actions that would be taking place, even involving cooperation between the US military, international institutes and Indonesian universities.

“I think it’s true, the research activity still exists. I can’t prove it, but from what I’ve read and heard, research activities are still going on in various forms of cooperation with research institutes and universities in Indonesia. I think the government should be aware of this”, she said during an interview this week.

Rotherham: Five arrests in child sex abuse investigation

Five people have been arrested as part of a police inquiry into allegations of non-recent child sexual abuse.

Four men, aged 40, 50, 54 and 63, and a woman aged 47, were arrested on suspicion of sexual offences following raids in Sheffield, Rotherham, Scunthorpe and West Yorkshire.

The allegations dated back to the 1990s and involved a victim under the age of 16, South Yorkshire Police said.

All five had since been released under investigation, police added.

The raids took place on 18 and 19 May.

Det Ch Insp Aneela Khalil-Khan, from South Yorkshire Police, said: "We are committed to investigating reports of child abuse, regardless of how many years have passed.

Three arrested after trying to solicit a minor for sex in Nicholas County

NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – State Police have arrested three people after they tried to solicit a 14-year-old girl for sex.

According to police, an investigation led to the arrests of three men in May after they thought they were talking to a 14-year-old and trying to have sex with her. The three men were communicating with who they thought was the juvenile on social media, and all planned to meet the child at Mountain Lake Campground in Summersville.

The three suspects, David Bradshaw, Brian Wittman, and Bryce Steele, are charged with soliciting a minor for sex. All three also admitted to police that they thought they were communicating with a 14-year-old female and had planned to have sex with her.

Australia currently has one of the highest Covid rates in the world and a lot of people that have recently caught the virus weren't being infected for the first time - they'd had it before.

Since November last year, Victoria recorded the highest number of reinfections in Australia with 27,000 people catching Covid again.

NSW has had more than 11,300 reinfections, with more than half of those having occurred within the last seven months.

Speaking on The Project, infectious diseases expert Paul Griffin stated that people 'can get some protection from reinfection after they have been infected with Covid-19, but it's quite variable and not necessarily long-lasting'.

'That is why we need people, even if you have had Covid, to continue your scheduled vaccination course.'

There are a number of reasons why we are seeing reinfections across the country - the most common reason being the different variants circulating around Australia including Omicron, BA1 and BA2.

Mr Griffin urged people to keep Covid in mind, maintain a vaccination schedule, not to panic but also make sure they got tested if symptoms occurred.

WHO Says Monkeypox Epidemic ‘Evolving Rapidly’ as More Cases Reported

The World Health Organization (WHO) says it’s investigating more than 250 cases of monkeypox outside of Africa, although officials for the U.N. health agency say they don’t believe it will morph into a pandemic.

The WHO stated on May 29 that it has received reports of 257 confirmed cases and about 120 suspected cases of the virus in 23 countries. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 14 cases in eight states as of May 29.

“The situation is evolving rapidly and WHO expects that there will be more cases identified as surveillance expands in non-endemic countries, as well as in countries known to be endemic who have not recently been reporting cases,” the U.N. agency stated on May 29.

Asked whether this monkeypox outbreak has the potential to grow into a pandemic, Rosamund Lewis, technical lead for monkeypox from the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, said that “we don’t know, but we don’t think so.”

“At the moment, we are not concerned of a global pandemic,” Lewis said.

But the WHO also stated in its update: “The public health risk could become high if this virus exploits the opportunity to establish itself as a human pathogen and spreads to groups at higher risk of severe disease such as young children and immunosuppressed persons.”

New Biden administration rule will tie federal education funding to LGBT mandates

An upcoming Biden administration rule change will tie billions of dollars in federal education funding to an array of LGBT policies, forcing school districts and universities to implement controversial rules on issues like transgender athletes in order to receive federal funding.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said this month it will change how it interprets Title IX prohibitions on discrimination based on sex “to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”

That change means that schools that accept any kind of funding, including students receiving FAFSA or Pell grants or students who receive federally subsidized school lunch funding, will be subject to the new Title IX LGBT interpretation.

“As a result, state and local agencies, program operators and sponsors that receive funds from FNS must investigate allegations of discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation,” USDA said in a statement. “Those organizations must also update their non-discrimination policies and signage to include prohibitions against discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.”

This means that schools around the country will be forced to comply with a range of pro-transgender policies in things like sports, housing, locker rooms and bathrooms if they want to continue receiving federal funds. The effort began when President Joe Biden issued an executive order almost immediately upon taking office.

Since then, the administration has been publicly advocating for these policies, but the expected formally published rule change later this year would codify that policy.

“Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports,” the White House said when that order was issued in January of last year.

Sarah Perry, a legal expert at the Heritage Foundation, said the rule change would also remove recently added due process protections for students accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault, which could be particularly important if misgendering individuals is redefined to be included in the harassment category.
