Kratom works for pain and withdrawals. It doesn't make you "high" it just helps your brain receptors not go ballistic. Taper after a week or so and viola! No more withdrawal.
I'm not familiar with alcohol and its use. Apparently it accesses the opioid receptors in the brain and calms them down but isn't considered an opiod. Huge difference taking that or going cold turkey. Doctors want to put patients on another drug for withdrawals but that has withdrawals! They make a lot of money. If you have insurance you go to a detox and it's the same bs but costs thousands.
I occasionally use if for chronic pain. Doesn't work as well as narcotics but it works I'd say about 70% which is good enough for me.
