neither of those have anything to do with finding a crime scene and starting a police investigation of the scene,
you dont NEED to be certain a crime was committed to consider it a crime scene, you only NEED reasonable suspicion, in any other circumstance digging up a stained knife is PLENTY of reasonable suspicion to initiate an investigation, the investigation is the vehicle that reaches certainty.
bloody cloths is enough on its own for reasonable suspicion,
