Object Found Triggered a Series of Events
Graff came across something on the floor of a garage after it was pointed out to him by a colleague. At first, it looked as though someone might have been unlucky enough to lose a prized possession, but then when a closer inspection was made, it was found there was something on the object that triggered off a series of events.
Garrett Graff is a political writer, and during his work, he has covered many issues that have been hot, including the War on Terror and the 2008 presidential election in the United States. One of the most eye-opening researchers he has undertaken was when a friend of his gave him something that was very strange. This led to an investigation that lasted many years, and which was life-changing when he looked into the secrets of the power establishment in the United States, triggered by the discovery of the object.
An ID with Map to Secret Location Was Found
The object in question that was found was a government ID that belonged to a member of the CIA. The friend of Graff found it and handed it to him, as he knew that Graff wrote about the same subject and thought that Graff might be able to give the ID back to the person who lost it. However, there was something strange about the ID. There were systematic driving instructions on the back if it. Graff used Google Maps to find the end destination, and the results were surprising.
The driving instructions led to a mountain peak that was 70 miles from Washington D.C. known as Raven Rock. Was this a meeting place as there was nothing in the region? Graff said that big concrete bunker doors could be seen, with a guard shack, chain link fence and concrete bunker doors past it.
Graff said that this was a facility that was not on any map, and which Graff had never heard about. Graff was intrigued and began to do some research. It turns out that it was a nuclear fallout shelter with the name of Raven Rock Mountain Complex.
It has been said that the government in the US has long had plans for survival in case of a nuclear war to save the people in power and the wealthy while leaving the common people out. Graff found that in 1951 the Truman administration started construction on a bunker when the Cold War began to heat up.
Gene Bowman, a laborer, was among the team who were paid $1.35 per hour to work on the tunnel and who dug through the granite at Raven Rock to construct the bunker. It was said that the bunker was a freestanding city that had been constructed inside a mountain, in other words, a backup for the Pentagon. The site had huge 34-ton blast doors that were said to be able to withstand the blast from a nuclear bomb.
Beyond the doors, there were 100,000 feet of office space for military officials. Around 1,400 of the most powerful people in the US could fit into the bunker and live comfortably. Judge Justice Warren was said to be in the elite club but came to the realization that his wife had not been given an ID badge and was reported to have said, “You’ll have room for one more important official.”
As it happened, every federal branch of the government had themselves a spot in the bunker, as they wanted the government to survive. There was even room for the post office inside the bunker. In another bunker, $2 bills had been stacked away, and this was money to be used in an apocalyptic society.
Up until 1992, the facility at Raven Rock was fully manned, and it was said that it operated all hours of the day, and then it was closed down. After 9/11, the bunker was opened up again, and it is said to be running once more.
