Adults exploring their sexuality (in ways that others view as adverse to their perceived norms) is a personal right on their part requiring no understanding or even acceptance on your own. There are dozens of reasons people make the choices they do with the lives that only they are ultimately responsible for. I don't think (or at least I hope not) anyone actually has any real issues with this, discussion about it, books, movies, tv shows, or speeches given about it in the least. Let their experiences hit the market, and it will sink/float on its own merits. What most have an issue with is how some in that community appear to be targeting the most vulnerable and impressionable in society - grooming, as it were. In a community that is already a small margin of the general populace, any vocal and much smaller percentage of especially degenerate types are going to get all the attention and warp outside perspectives in a harmful way.
To make matters more complicated (perhaps intentionally), the ones that have major hangups about those that are more liberal in their sexuality and expression thereof are lumping actual predators in their assertions about what should/should not be allowed in society; seemingly intentionally causing a rift with MAGA and those in the gay community. The trans movement is very openly grooming and attempting to indoctrinate young children into their ranks, and it's disgusting and abhorrent. What used to be considered an illness of mentality is being shoved in the noses of the general population with demands of acceptance. What strikes me as surprising is seeing well-intentioned and intelligent people (who are obviously working hard to help make the world a better place from their ideological perspective) attack otherwise ideological allies that happen to be in the gay community as being a part of the problem. Some folks need to take a step back and analyze some shit a bit more thoroughly.
My 2 cents.
