Lebanese Defense Minister Maurice Slim considered that the Israeli activity in the disputed area in southern Lebanon "constitutes a challenge and provocation to Lebanon and is a flagrant breach of stability in Southern Lebanon."

The Minister of Defense said, "Once again, Israel steps on all international laws and norms and is trying to create a fait accompli on the Lebanese borders, thus thwarting the efforts made for the resumption of negotiations to demarcate the southern maritime borders, in which the United States plays the role of mediator, and which are being conducted under the auspices of the United Nations."

He also called on the international community and the United Nations to put an end to the renewed Israeli provocations and to "implement international resolutions to anticipate any [Israeli-provoked] security deterioration in southern Lebanon, which would have repercussions on stability in the region."

The Israeli occupation said that dozens of Israeli fighter jets conducted exercises over the Mediterranean and warships held Red Sea drills this week.

The drills come amid tensions over stalled efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, which "Israel" staunchly opposes and has vowed to do whatever it takes to stop.

In 2018, the United States, under then-president Donald Trump, unilaterally withdrew from the deal and imposed sanctions on Iran.

"Training for many scenarios"

An IOF statement on the exercises - which were conducted jointly with Cyprus - said on Wednesday that "we continuously are preparing and training for many scenarios including threats from Iran."

The statement mentioned that "dozens of Israeli Air Force fighter jets conducted aerial drills over the Mediterranean Sea to practice a long-range flight and striking distant targets."

It said aircraft had "simulated a long-range flight, aerial refueling, and striking distant targets" during the exercises.

The "Beyond the Horizon" drills were conducted during the "Chariots of Fire" exercise which was supposed to have been held in May 2021, but it was postponed due to the 11-day Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

On Thursday, the Israeli occupation said personnel from "missile ship and submarine flotillas" had completed a "complex and lengthy training drill in the Red Sea."

"This extended training drill simulated various scenarios, including achieving maritime superiority and maintaining freedom of manoeuvering in the area," navy commander-in-chief David Saar Salama was quoted as saying.

Biggest & most extensive drills

In the same context, Cyprus said it took part in part of the Israeli exercises, claiming they were not aimed against any third party.

Its Defense Ministry said the drills indicated "the excellent relations between the Republic of Cyprus and Israel in defense and security."

The Cypriot Foreign Ministry also claimed that they were "based on fictitious scenarios" and "not targeted against any other country in the region."

After a one-day visit to Cyprus, Israeli occupation Security Minister Benny Gantz said Tuesday that "this is the peak of one of the biggest and most extensive drills we've held in years."

Greece possibly sent 'tremendous amount' of weapons to Ukraine

According to a Greek news portal pronews.gr, the Greek government has likely sent or intends to supply a "tremendous amount" of weaponry to Ukraine, including around 120 armored vehicles, 15,000 explosives, and more than three million cartridges and other equipment.

According to the agency, Ukraine's stockpiles include 122 armored vehicles, 15,000 munitions, 2,100 missile projectiles, 20,000 Kalashnikov rifles, 3.2 million cartridges, 60 man-portable air-defense systems, 17,000 artillery rounds, and 1,100 anti-tank projectiles.

According to the source, the delivery strategy involves six Greek C-130 cargo planes, ten Canadian planes, and five New Zealand planes.

The news outlet also accused Greek officials of withholding information on arms transfers to Kiev.

On February 27, Athens sent 40 tonnes of "defense equipment" to Ukraine via the border of Poland. Since then, the Greek government has indicated repeatedly that it will no longer supply additional weapons to Kiev in order not to jeopardize its own defense capabilities.

The reports of further shipments of Greek heavy weaponry to Kiev have sparked outrage from the opposition, which accuses Athens of endangering national security and concealing agreement specifics from the public.

Lebanon warns "Israel" against encroachment on its resources

Lebanese President Michel Aoun discussed Today with Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati the issue of the entry of the Energean Power vessel into the disputed maritime area with "Israel", noting that any activity in that area currently constitutes a "hostile act."

The Lebanese presidency issued a statement, in which it said that Aoun discussed with Mikati "the entry of the Energean Power vessel into the disputed maritime area with "Israel" and asked the army command to provide it with "accurate and official data to build on the matter."

President Aoun said that "Negotiations to demarcate the southern maritime borders are still ongoing, and any action or activity in the disputed area constitutes a provocation and a hostile act."

Mikati: Enemy's encroachment on Lebanon's water wealth is extremely dangerous

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Sunday, that "the Israeli enemy's attempts to create a new crisis, by encroaching on Lebanon's water wealth, and imposing a fait accompli in a disputed area in which Lebanon adheres to its rights, is extremely dangerous, and would cause unimaginable tensions," he added "nobody can guess its repercussions."

Mikati warned of the "repercussions of any incomplete step, before completing the mission of the American mediator, whose resumption has become more than an urgent necessity," calling: "the United Nations and all concerned to remedy the situation and compel the Israeli enemy to stop its provocations."

The caretaker PM concluded: "The solution is to return to negotiations on the basis of not giving up Lebanon's full rights to its wealth and water."

Mikati's statement came after the new European ship "Energean Power", which was built specifically for the Karish field, located off the southern Lebanese coast with Palestine, crossed the Suez Canal. The ship has been set on its way from the port of Singapore to the shore of the Palestinian village of Tantura.

Earlier on Friday, the Suez Canal Authority announced: "the success of the first crossing of its kind in the history of the canal of a floating unit for the production, processing, and storage of liquefied natural gas (FPSO) by crossing the world's newest unit, Energean Power, within the convoy of the south."

The ship crossed the canal supported through the towing and guiding of four tugs belonging to the Suez Canal Authority. This is the vessel's first sea voyage after its launch in Singapore heading to the Mediterranean.
