US, South Korea Fire 8 Ballistic Missiles In Rare Mirror Response To North

The frequency and pace of North Korea's ballistic missile launches have grown this year, almost to the point of now becoming 'routine' amid the usual accompanying threats from Kim Jong Un; however, what's not common is for US and South Korea to 'answer' in as alarming a fashion - but that's precisely what happened in response to the latest salvo from Pyongyang…

"The U.S. and South Korean militaries launched eight ballistic missiles into the sea Monday in a show of force matching a North Korean missile display a day earlier that extended a provocative streak in weapons demonstrations," The Associated Press reports.

North Korea on Sunday had fired eight short-range missiles, marking what international reports said is a single-day record for most ballistic missile launches from the north. The series of launches came over 35 minutes from at least four separate locations, including both coasts and from north of the capital, among inland areas.

In responding quickly with its own corresponding Monday launches, the South Korean military described that "The tit-for-tat missile launches were aimed at demonstrating the ability to respond swiftly and accurately to North Korean attacks."

According to details in the AP, "The allies’ live-fire exercise involved eight Army Tactical Missile System missiles — one American and seven South Korean — that were fired into South Korea’s eastern waters across 10 minutes following notifications for air and maritime safety, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff and U.S. Forces Korea."

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol affirmed that Seoul would remain firm in its response to its northern neighbor and rival. "We will make sure there isn't a single crack in protecting the lives and property of our people," he said.

Some pundits were quick to question whether this will have any deterrent effect whatsoever: unlikely, they said.

He said that Pyongyang's latest signs of a ratcheting nuclear and ballistic missile program "are reaching the level of threatening not only peace on the Korean Peninsula but also in Northeast Asia and the world," Yonhap reported.

In the south's fresh muscle-flexing aimed at Pyongyang with the help of the US military, it launched seven surface-to-surface Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS). An additional eighth was launched directly from the US side of the drills. South Korea and US joint drills, which come routinely, have consistently angered the north, resulting and frequent threats and denunciations. With this latest missile launch 'response' to the north, however, the north could choose to escalate further by ramping up more and more frequent tests.

Nearly 10,000 migrants are headed towards U.S. in largest caravan ever

A migrant caravan numbered at nearly 10,000 people, possibly the largest ever, departed from the Mexico-Guatemala border Monday and is headed to the United States.

The caravan left Tapachula on Monday and currently has about 9,500 migrants mostly from Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua. It is predicted to add several thousand more people before it reaches the southern border by a coastal route, according to Fox News.

One of the caravan members, a Haitian migrant, told Fox News they expect President Joe Biden to keep his campaign promises and permit them to seek asylum in the U.S.

"He promised the Haitian community he will help them," the migrant said. "He will recall Title 42. He will help us have real asylum."

Luis Villagran, the caranvan's organizer, gave more details to Fox News on the size and progress of the caravan.

"We consider we are around 9,500, it measures 51/2 km from the start to the end, people keep on joining, in the first police check there were approx 100-150 national guard, INM, state police and let us through freely," Villagran said.

A federal judge in May prevented the Biden administration from rescinding the public health order known as Title 42, a pandemic policy that requires migrants seeking asylum to the U.S. to wait outside the country for processing. Title 42 also grants immigration enforcement extra authority to deport migrants that enter the country illegally.

Immigration activists and left-wing groups have accused the Trump-era Title 42 order of being xenophobic and anti-immigrant. They have put pressure on the Biden administration to lift the order, but 24 Republican-led states filed a lawsuit to prevent the president from doing so. These states say lifting Title 42 would lead to a massive surge in illegal immigration, which would overwhelm state resources and worsen the humanitarian crisis at the border.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has repeatedly stated his department will continue to enforce Title 42 and has warned migrants not to make the dangerous journey to the United States.

"The restrictions at our southwest border have not changed. Single adults and families encountered will continue to be expelled, where appropriate, under Title 42. And those who are unable to establish a legal basis to remain will be removed," Mayorkas said last month.

Though Mayorkas insists immigration laws are still being enforced, President Joe Biden has sought to undo many of his predecessor Donald Trump's strict immigration policies. Upon assuming office, Biden canceled construction of a wall on the southern border, prioritized immigration enforcement against known criminals and terrorists instead of all illegal immigrants, reinstated catch-and-release policies, and worked to end Title 42.

Republicans have accused Biden's policies of encouraging illegal immigration, while the administration insists crime, corruption, and natural disasters in south and central America are causing people to come to the U.S. in increased numbers seeking a better life.

Nude Hunter Biden cavorts with hooker, illegal gun in latest mess for president

Hunter Biden shows himself to be a real first son-of-a-gun in the latest embarrassing personal video leak for President Biden’s scandal-scarred offspring.

A naked Hunter casually waves around a handgun and even points it at the camera while partying with a prostitute in 2018, the video shows, according to a report Monday.

The 52-year-old Hunter got cheeky in front of a camera during a twisted session with a sex worker in October 2018, Radar Online reported, citing leaked photos and videos from the first son’s iPhone.

The outlet refused to buy the new material from an anonymous tipster who identified themselves as “biden.me” on the secure Proton Mail email platform, according to the report.

The new material was obtained after being verified as authentic by Radar Online. Hunter Biden, who has battled serious drug addiction for years, bought a .38-caliber revolver in Delaware just five days before recording the sex tape on Oct. 17, 2018.

Hunter had lied to staff about where he purchased the gun seen in the clip and also answered no when previously asked on a firearm transaction report if he was an “unlawful user” of drugs, according to Radar Online.

Two separate photos showed Hunter’s hand on the trigger of the gun as he cupped his genital area, while a third image showed what appeared to be crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia on paper plates, including a spoon.

Hunter Biden, whose struggles with addiction led to his 2017 divorce from Kathleen Buhle, was discharged from the US Navy Reserve three years earlier after testing positive for cocaine.

Just weeks before illegally buying the weapon, Biden’s lover, Hallie Biden, the widow of his late brother Beau Biden, tossed the gun into a supermarket garbage can, setting off a Secret Service and FBI probe, Radar Online reported. No charges were ever filed.

The Secret Service told The Post in March 2021 it had no record of agents investigating the incident and said President Biden was not under protection at the time.

Hunter Biden had been divorced from his first wife, Kathleen, and was at the time involved in a scandalous romantic relationship with his sister-in-law, Hallie, the widow of his brother Beau, who had died of cancer.

“She stole the gun out of my trunk lock and threw it in a garbage can full to the top at Jansens. Then told me it was my problem to deal with,” Hunter admitted in a 2019 text, first reported by The Post.

“Then when the police, the FBI [and] the secret service came on the scene she said she took it from me because she was scared I would harm myself due to my drug and alcohol problem and our volatile relationship and that she was afraid for the kids.”

The new leak is tied to more than 30 gigabytes of photos, videos and messages from Hunter Biden’s iPhone over a four-month span between October 2018 and February 2019, Radar Online reported.

“Hunter is in a compromising position that will rock Washington, DC,” one source close to the matter told the outlet.

The photos and footage showing Hunter Biden aiming the weapon at a camera at one point comes amid a rash of mass shootings throughout the US, including at least 11 on Saturday and Sunday alone that left at least 15 people dead and 61 injured, data shows.

The spate of mass shootings has prompted President Biden to call for increased gun control, including a ban on assault weapons.

“I respect the culture and the tradition and the concerns of lawful gun owners,” Biden said Thursday from the White House. “At the same time, the Second Amendment, like all other rights, is not absolute.”

Biden also called for lawmakers to address the nation’s “mental health crisis.”

An Office Manager from Florida and a Gates-Funded Professor Are Censoring Studies Linking Mask Usage to Increased Deaths.

Yet another dubious fact check. But this one is even weirder than the last.

A PolitiFact “fact checker” who has attempting to discredit National Pulse reporting on mask mandates and recent medical journal papers has almost zero experience in real news reporting, medical reporting, COVID-19 reporting, or even national news, The National Pulse can reveal.

The information is the latest in a slew of “fact checker” stories which reveal dubiously credentialed individuals working to remove anti-Big Pharma content from the internet at the behest of big tech companies and their sponsors in the pharmaceutical industry.

Floridian liberal Gabrielle Settles appears to have begun working for Politifact in March 2021, bylining at least 70 stories for the corporate-backed censor.

Settles, however, has no experience in dealing with any of this kind of information, having performed the majority of her “fact checks” simply by copying and pasting from the Centers for Disease Control website, and even veering off into “fact checking” pictures of Christmas cards and photos of singer Rihanna.

Prior to Politifact, Settles worked at a small, St. Petersburg outfit called “The Weekly Challenger”, and prior to that, as an “Office Administrator” at “Moody Radio” and a “contributing writer” at a blog called “The Power Broker Magazine.” The sites receive almost zero web traffic.

In fact, Settles’s journalistic contributions are extremely limited. But naturally, her contributions to partisan rhetoric are not.

The Politifact “reporter” – a job which includes no actual reporting – has a history of pro-Democrat and anti-Trump tweets. Naturally, she took umbrage with The National Pulse’s story on masks and deaths, derived from two separate stories of May 16th and May 26th.

In the first, Natalie Winters reveals how Beny Spira, Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo, published an April 19th 2022 study “analyz[ing] the correlation between mask usage against morbidity and mortality rates in the 2020-2021 winter in Europe.”

The data came from 35 European countries, and concluded:

“The findings presented in this short communication suggest that countries with high levels of mask compliance did not perform better than those with low mask usage in the six-month period that encompassed the second European wave of COVID-19…”

The study also found:

“Moreover, the moderate positive correlation between mask usage and deaths in Western Europe also suggests that the universal use of masks may have had harmful unintended consequences…”

But Settles found this particular science to be “False” and as a result, the National Pulse story is now being censored on social media. Settles’s source appears to be a singular professor from the corporate-backed Milken Institute for Public Health at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her name is Emily Smith.

But Smith didn’t even tell Settles that Spira’s study was incorrect. She is quoted as saying:

“I think we can just use common sense to say that when cases are rising, people are more likely to do protective things… You’re more likely to wear a mask when you go out and your city or your country might also have made recommendations or requirements to do those things.”

In other words, Smith is claiming that the mask usage and deaths is an inverse correlation, though she offers no evidence, nor science, nor refutation of the science offered. Instead, Smith suggests using “common sense” – a phrase oft-derided when used by anti-authoritarian activists at the beginning of the pandemic.

Smith, for what it is worth, is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as revealed on her university biography.

Hochul signs new gun control laws after Buffalo, Texas mass shootings

The Empire State officially has new laws on the books aimed at curbing access to weapons that have been used in recent mass killings in Buffalo and Texas.

“I speak to you today as the governor of a state in mourning and the citizen of a nation in crisis … It just keeps happening. Shots ring out. Flags come down, and nothing ever changes — except here in New York.” Gov. Kathy Hochul said Monday just before she signed into law 10 bills passed by state lawmakers last week in the wake of the mass shootings.

People under 21 years old can no longer buy semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15-style weapon that a teenage white supremacist allegedly used to massacre 10 people at a Buffalo supermarket weeks ago.

New Yorkers also face stiffer barriers to buying bulletproof vests and body armor like the ones that reportedly protected the Buffalo shooter during the rampage from a bullet fired by a heroic security guard.

Another new law aims to battle online hate by requiring social media companies to have policies in place to respond to potential threats.

The gunman made a violent threat at his former high school but was nonetheless allowed to buy a semi-automatic weapon after turning 18 despite the state’s red flag law, which was tweaked by newly signed legislation.

A threat of mass harm is now a crime punishable by up to a year in jail under another bill signed by Hochul on Monday.

Other new rules on the books are aimed at preventing gun crimes more associated with gang violence that have occurred at a faster clip in recent years within the five boroughs.

Microstamping technology enabled by a new law could make it easier for law enforcement to track future crimes through identifying marks that would match a firearm with an expended cartridge left at a crime scene.

State and local agencies will have to increase reporting on gun seizures to help battle the so-called Iron Pipeline bringing firearms into New York from states with looser gun laws like Georgia.

Other measures closed past loopholes on the possession of high-capacity ammunition magazines and guns that evade existing restrictions through the use of arm braces rather than standard rifle stocks.

Democrats have called on the federal government to take additional action on gun control, such as reviving a ban on assault weapons that expired nearly two decades ago.

Sadiq Khan Accuses Woke London Police of ‘Overt Systemic Sexism, Racism, Homophobia’

London’s leftist mayor, Sadiq Khan, has accused the British capital’s woke police force of “overt” systemic sexism, racism, and homophobia.

Mayor Khan, of Britain’s opposition Labour Party, ousted the previous head of the Metropolitan Police, Dame Cressida Dick, not over homicide and violent crime in London or her force’s failure to control riotous Black Lives Matter demonstrations during what was, for most, a time of national lockdown, but for her failure to chase the phantom of “systemic racism, sexism, homophobia, and misogyny” more enthusiastically than she already was.

“It’s possible to recognise the dedicated, decent, brave officers we have in the police service but to also say we’ve got real problems – real problems that have been shown recently in relation to evidence of overt systemic sexism, racism, homophobia, discrimination, misogyny – which need to be addressed,” Khan claimed, despite what many right-leaning people in Britain see as the Met’s already excessive focus on diversity and policing people’s speech, in comments reported by PinkNews.

Former Obama Official Pleads Guilty To Charges He Illegally Tried to Influence Trump Administration

A former Obama administration official pleaded guilty to federal charges on Friday for his involvement in a secretive effort to unduly influence the Trump administration.

Richard G. Olson, who was then-President Barack Obama’s special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2015 and 2016, admitted that he lied on ethics paperwork and broke so-called ‘revolving door’ statutes, according to a report in The Washington Post.

The report noted that the misdemeanor violations came in connection with Olson lobbying for Qatar within a year of his retirement from the federal government.

The Post added:

In pre-plea proceedings in federal court in Washington, Olson’s defense counsel said he admitted to the misdemeanor charges — each punishable by up to one year in prison at his sentencing Sept. 13 — and cooperated with federal prosecutors on the understanding that they were also investigating and pursuing criminal charges against retired four-star Marine Gen. John G. Allen. The latter commanded U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan before retiring in 2013. He was tapped in late 2017 as president of Washington’s influential Brookings Institution, to which Qatar agreed in 2013 to donate $14.8 million over four years.

The two men are the latest high-level American officials to be enmeshed in a long-running federal investigation into a ferocious — and lucrative — battle for influence in Washington waged between the wealthy Persian Gulf nation of Qatar and its regional rival the United Arab Emirates, as Donald Trump prepared to take office and engage in new rounds of Middle East diplomacy.

The Post went on to report that in July 2021, Thomas Barrack, Jr., a longtime billionaire friend of Trump and his presidential inaugural committee chairman, was charged with obstructing justice and acting on behalf of the UAE without being registered as a foreign lobbyist.

Also, U.S. businessman Imaad Zuberi, who is a major donor to both political parties, was sentenced in February 2020 to 12 years behind bars after he pledged guilty to tax evasion, foreign influence-peddling, and violations of campaign finance laws.

In court papers, Olson admitted he failed to disclose in annual ethics forms as required that he accepted a first-class airline ticket from New Mexico to London, as well as a stay in a luxury hotel in January 2015 — all of which were worth approximately $20,000 — from a Pakistani-American businessman who was not identified by the federal government but whose description matches Zuberi, the Post reported.

“Olson admitted meeting with a Bahrain businessman, who would offer him a one-year $300,000 contract for work after he left the State Department,” the paper added.

The FBI Tried to Ambush My Source. Now I’m Telling the Whole Story.

I’ve been reluctant to write what I know about the FBI’s scheme because the tale is so complicated that I’m still not sure I fully understand it.

FBI agent Grayden Ridd had a confidential message for his informant. An FBI team had been given the green light by the Justice Department to ambush and derail a planned meeting between a reporter and a source, and the informant’s job was to let the FBI know when and where the meeting would take place.

The reporter whose meeting they planned to target was me.

It was January 2014, and I was an investigative reporter in the Washington bureau of the New York Times focusing on national security. The FBI wanted to stop me from obtaining documents that I’d been told would reveal the details of massive spying operations by the National Security Agency. The FBI was convinced that I was in contact with someone they had secretly nicknamed the “second Snowden,” who was about to give me an archive that they feared could go far beyond what former NSA contractor Edward Snowden had leaked about the agency’s spying operations the year before.

The FBI’s plan to grab my source at our scheduled meeting was approved by top officials at the FBI and the Justice Department during the Obama administration, according to audio recordings I obtained of several phone conversations between Ridd and his informant. At the time, Eric Holder was U.S. attorney general and James Comey was FBI director.

“Right now, they are on board,” Ridd said in one phone conversation to plan the ambush operation, referring to top Justice Department and FBI officials. “I have to periodically go up to the throne room and recommit them. … We actually have a lot of buy-in and a lot of support, but I do need to feed the beast.”

The FBI declined to comment and the Justice Department did not respond to requests for comment. Holder did not answer a request for comment left with his office; Comey did not respond to a request for comment conveyed through his lawyer. Ridd did not respond to a request for comment placed with a relative or to a knock at the door of his home in Washington, D.C.

Justices won’t hear appeal from couple who pointed guns at Black Lives Matter protesters

The Supreme Court on Monday turned away an appeal by a St. Louis couple whose law licenses were sanctioned after they pointed guns at Black Lives Matter protesters near their home in the summer of 2020.

The demonstrations came on the heels of George Floyd’s murder by a Minneapolis police officer.

The couple — Mark and Patricia McCloskey — asked the justices to vacate the sanctions against them, arguing the disciplinary action they received ran afoul of their Second Amendment right to protect themselves and their home in the face of what they say was a violent threat.

The court’s denial of the McCloskeys’ petition for appeal Monday came in an unsigned order without noted comment or dissent. The move leaves intact the disciplinary sanctions against the McCloskeys, which includes the possible indefinite suspension of their law licenses if they commit any violations over a one-year probationary period that began last February.

An attorney for the McCloskeys was not immediately available for comment.

Raskin says Jan. 6 panel has found more on Trump than ‘incitement’

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) on Monday said the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol has found evidence on former President Trump that supports “a lot more than incitement.”

The comment from Raskin, a member of the Jan. 6 panel, referenced Trump’s second impeachment in January 2021, when the House voted to impeach the then-president for incitement to insurrection.

The Jan. 6 panel is set to hold its first public hearing on Thursday, where Raskin said the committee will lay out information regarding individuals who played a role in the attack — including Trump.

“The select committee has found evidence about a lot more than incitement here, and we’re gonna be laying out the evidence about all of the actors who were pivotal to what took place on Jan. 6,” Raskin said during an interview with Washington Post Live.

Trump was impeached in the House by a 197-22 vote, with 10 Republicans joining all Democrats in sanctioning the president. The following month, however, the Senate acquitted him in a 57-43 vote. Seven Senate Republicans joined the entire Democratic caucus in voting to convict.

The select committee says Thursday’s prime-time hearing, scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., will feature new material and witness testimony from the nearly yearlong investigation, which has largely been conducted behind the scenes

Raskin on Monday told The Washington Post Live that this week’s hearing will “tell the story of a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 presidential election and block the transfer of power.”

Asked if Trump is at the center of that conspiracy, Raskin said “I think that Donald Trump and the White House were at the center of these events.”

“That’s the only way really of making sense of them all,” he added.

He noted, however, that “people are going to have to make judgments themselves about the relative role that different people played.”

The Maryland Democrat then pointed to Trump’s second impeachment, in which Raskin was the lead manager of the Senate trial.

“Of course the House and the Senate in bicameral and bipartisan fashion have already determined that the former president, Donald Trump, incited an insurrection by majority votes in the House and the Senate,” Raskin said.

“Although, Donald Trump wasn’t convicted by the requisite two-thirds majority, but commanding majority found that he had in fact incited this insurrection,” he added.

PM spokesman resigns in fourth major departure in a month

The 26-year-old Sidi had a meteoric rise, beginning to work with Bennett four years ago.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s spokesman Matan Sidi resigned on Monday, the fourth departure from the premier’s inner circle in the past month.

The 26-year-old Sidi had a meteoric rise, beginning to work with Bennett four years ago, when he was education minister and then defense minister.

In the past year, Sidi was Bennett’s spokesman, but also managed all of the Prime Minister’s Office’s communications, including that of the Mossad, National Security Council, National Economic Council, National Cyber Directorate and more.

Sidi plans to work in the private sector. Bennett’s political spokesman Yotam Ben Yitzhak will take his place in the Prime Minister’s Office.

Bennett said that Sidi “was with me in the more and less successful moments, managing communications… professionally and with great talent. Despite his young age, he showed understanding, fluency and knowledge in the many areas I dealt with, along with extraordinary abilities in managing national events and complex communications crises.”

"Despite his young age, he showed understanding, fluency and knowledge in the many areas I dealt with, along with extraordinary abilities in managing national events and complex communications crises.”

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett

Other resignations

Sidi is the third departure from a high-level position in the Prime Minister’s Office in recent weeks, following Bennett’s diplomatic adviser Shimrit Meir and his chief of staff Tal Gan-Zvi, who had worked with the prime minister for a decade. In addition, Bennett's personal assistant, Naomi Sasson, resigned last week.

Meir and Gan-Zvi each had a different vision for Bennett; the former advised the prime minister to be more centrist and the latter pushed for Bennett to be loyal to his former right-wing base, leading to tensions within the upper echelon of the Prime Minister’s Office.

What Klaus Schwab, WEF and WHO Reveal About Genetic Engineering

A couple of days ago we published an article about a study, an experiment really, where CRISPR-Cas9, a gene-editing tool, was used to manipulate behaviour in hamsters. Contrary to what the researchers were hoping, the experiment “developed” vicious hamster monsters that turned on littermates of the same sex.

In our previous article we asked the question: would they do this in humans? And now we ask: could they, in other words, do they have the ability to modify human behaviour through genetic re-engineering?

Keep these questions in mind as you read, and watch, the following.

Klaus Schwab’s Genetic Modification

The clip below is an excerpt from a 16-minute interview by Charlie Rose on 13 November 2013.

Rose asked Klaus Schwab: “You want to talk about in this year’s [Davos] conference, in January, mastering the fourth industrial revolution.”

Schwab responded: “If you look into the future, there’s so much going on in technology. It’s a real revolution … Our life, the pattern of governing societies, will be so much affected with what’s going on in research in innovation … look at big data …”

Rose: “And look at things like artificial intelligence and robots. Look at things like gene editing, opening a whole new horizon for medical science”

Schwab: “You see the difference of this fourth industrial revolution is it doesn’t change what you are doing. It changes you, if you take a genetic editing, just as an example. It’s you who are changing. And of course, this has a big impact on your identity.”

World Economic Forum’s Genetic Modification

When Chinese researchers first edited the genes of a human embryo in a lab dish, using CRISPR, in 2015, it sparked global outcry and pleas from scientists not to make a baby using the technology, wrote MIT Technology Review in November 2018.

By the time MIT Technology Review had written its article, it may have already been happening. According to Chinese medical documents posted online in November 2018, a team at the Southern University of Science and Technology, in Shenzhen, had been recruiting couples to create the first gene-edited babies. They planned to eliminate a gene called CCR5 in hopes of rendering the offspring resistant to HIV, smallpox, and cholera.

When we attempted to retrieve the source documents MIT Technology Review linked in their article, HERE and HERE, one had been withdrawn from the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry and the other is now a dead link.

Lest it should suffer the same fate as the other, we have downloaded a copy of the withdrawn paper from the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry – ‘Evaluation of the safety and efficacy of gene editing with human embryo CCR5 gene’, Southern University of Science and Technology, 8 November 2018 – and attached it below to preserve it.

Biden Administration Quietly Raised Amount of Ethanol Required in Gasoline from Ten Percent to Fifteen, Three Predictable Problems Will Surface Soon

Last Friday the Biden administration raised the mandatory amount of biofuel, specifically ethanol, that must be blended within the U.S. gasoline supply. The previous amount of 10% was raised to 15% by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This is likely to lead to two sets of bigger issues, less food and higher gas prices.

♦ First issue. – The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) is a government mandate, passed in 2005 and expanded in 2007, that requires growing volumes of biofuels to be blended into U.S. transportation fuels like gasoline and diesel every year. Approximately 40 percent of corn grown in the U.S. is used for ethanol. Raising the amount of ethanol required in gasoline will result in the need for more biofuel (corn). With farming costs and outputs already under pressure this could be problematic.

♦ Second issue – The EPA enforces the biofuel standard by requiring refineries to submit purchase credits (known as Renewable Identification Numbers, or RINs) to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proving the purchases. This enforcement requirement sets up a system where the RIN credits are bought and sold by small refineries who do not have the infrastructure to do the blending process. They purchase second-hand RIN credits from parties that blended or imported biofuels directly. This sets up a secondary income stream, a trading market for the larger oil companies, refineries and importers.

The RIN credit trading platform is similar to what we might expect to see if the ‘Carbon Trading’ scheme was ever put into place. However, now that the biofuel requirements for blended gasoline have gone from 10% to 15%, the price of the RIN credits will likely jump. This will cost refineries billions in additional expenses,…. which will mean the cost of the gasoline from the refineries will increase,….. which will mean the cost of the gasoline at the pump will go higher.

The EPA theory is that RIN credits should be expensive thereby forcing all oil refineries to invest in infrastructure that makes the blended fuel. All of the infrastructure from the refinery to the gas station would need to be modified to facilitate the new 15% RFS standard. Again, higher prices at the pumps as a result of oil companies and refineries needing to spend billions on upgrades. Which brings us to issue number three.

♦ Third Issue – “Ethanol is a valuable source of octane in finished gasoline, but it is chemically different than petroleum gasoline and cannot be used in concentrations above 10 percent in small engines — like outboard boat motors, motorcycles, lawnmowers, generators or chain saws — or in any cars made before 2001. Complicating matters further, most cars on the road today still aren’t warrantied to run on gasoline with more than 10 percent ethanol. Retail stations also must have compatible infrastructure in order to sell gasoline with higher ethanol blends.” This issue is known within the industry as “The Blend Wall.”

The net result of Joe Biden’s EPA raising the mandatory amount of biofuel that must be present in the U.S. gas supply is this:

(1) Less food as more corn is needed for ethanol.

(2) Higher prices for finished and blended gasoline.

(3) Vehicle engines breaking down at a much higher rate.

The predictable Biden outcome is the absolute worst scenario for the middle-class.

WASHINGTON – “The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers group, which represents refineries, called the 2022 figure “bewildering and contrary to the administration’s claims to be doing everything in their power to provide relief to consumers.” The group said unachievable mandates will increase fuel production costs and keep consumer prices high.” (more)
