Texas Attorney General Paxton Launches Investigation Against Twitter For Potential False Reporting Over Its Fake “Bot” Accounts

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Monday launched an investigation against Twitter for potential false reporting over its fake “bot” accounts.

The false reporting over fake bot accounts would violate the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

“Texans rely on Twitter’s public statements that nearly all its users are real people. It matters not only for regular Twitter users, but also Texas businesses and advertisers who use Twitter for their livelihoods,” said Attorney General Paxton. “If Twitter is misrepresenting how many accounts are fake to drive up their revenue, I have a duty to protect Texans.”

Today Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation against Twitter for potentially false reporting over its fake bot accounts in violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

On Twitter, “bots” are automated, non-human accounts that can do virtually the same things as real people: send tweets, follow other users, and like and retweet others’ posts. Spam accounts like these inflate followers and reach, and often push deceptive and annoying activity. Bot accounts can not only reduce the quality of users’ experience on the platform but may also inflate the value of the company and the costs of doing business with it, thus directly harming Texas consumers and businesses.

To address this concern, Attorney General Paxton issued a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) to investigate whether Twitter’s reporting on real versus fake users is “false, misleading, or deceptive” under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. The CID requires Twitter to turn over documents related to how it calculates and manages its user data and how these numbers relate to Twitter’s advertising businesses. Twitter has until June 27 to respond to Attorney General Paxton’s Demand.

J6 Committee Dems Hire TV Exec To Literally 'Produce' Hearings

Congressional Democrats on the January 6th Committee have hired former ABC News President James Goldston to "produce" this month's slate of hearings on the Capitol riot, according to Fox News' Chad Pergram, who added that Goldston will "have a hand in all of the hearings this month."

Goldman will be "particularly involved" in efforts by the committee to make the prime-time hearings - both this Thursday and another later this month - "TV friendly."

On Sunday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said that the Democrats would present a "comprehensive narrative" at the J6 Committee's first public hearing this week.

"Our goal is to present the narrative of what happened in this country, how close we came to losing our democracy, what led to the violence," he told Margaret Brennan on CBS’s "Face the Nation," adding: "Americans I think know a great deal already — they have seen a number of bombshells already [and] there’s a great deal they haven’t seen. But perhaps the most important is the public has not seen it woven together, how one thing led to another."

Yet another Obama/Biden official is stumping for the most oppressive regime in the world.

A top economic advisor to former President Barack Obama headlined an event sponsored by a Chinese Communist Party-backed influence group shortly before urging the Biden White House to drop Trump-era tariffs against China.

Jason Furman participated in the 2022 Harvard Kennedy School’s China Conference, which was sponsored by the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).

CUSEF is part of the Chinese Communist Party’s United Front Work Department, which seeks “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and “influence foreign governments to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing’s preferred policies,” according to the U.S. government.

The U.S. State Department also compares the United Front to the Chinese regime’s “magic weapon” to advance its agenda in the U.S.

In practice, CUSEF has deployed this tactic on American journalists and former Congressmen, offering free trips to the country in exchange for “favorable coverage,” according to Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) filings.

Furman, who served eight years as a top economic adviser to former President Obama in the role of Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers from August 2013 to January 2017, spoke during the event’s panel “US-China Economic Relations in Unstable Times – Challenges and Opportunities Ahead.”

“In the midst of current geopolitical uncertainties, US-China economic cooperation is facing great challenges. Panelists discussed how to maintain a fair and sustainable trade relationship between the US and China, how to ensure stability in financial markets, and how to create more opportunities for cooperation in the future,” explained a panel summary.

88 Arrested, 58 Guns Seized During ‘Largest-Ever’ Gang Takedown in California County

Authorities in Stockton, California, arrested nearly 90 people while also seizing dozens of guns in a massive multi-agency gang takedown targeting violent street gangs and a recent increase in firearm-related activities in the area.

Tori Verber Salazar, the district attorney of San Joaquin County, touted the mission, dubbed “Operation Hybrid Havoc,” as the most successful crime operation that has ever been conducted in the county.

The investigation had been going on for the past year and picked up steam in the fall. It has been described as the largest gang bust of its kind in the county’s history. Over its course, agents executed 24 search warrants and 19 arrest warrants.

During a news conference on June 2, Salazar said officials arrested 88 alleged gang members on felony charges and confiscated 58 firearms, including 12 “ghost guns”—unregistered firearms often built using a 3D printer.

“We’re proud of the sheer amount of crime prevention that came from this operation,” the district attorney said. “Due to collaborated effort from the agencies, they literally stopped murder from occurring.”

Two homicides were also solved as a result of the investigation, bringing justice to affected families, officials said. One attempted homicide and four shootings were prevented as well as part of the operation.

One of the homicides included the murder of 31-year-old Mark Scott, a special education teacher at Pulliam Elementary School and a baseball coach at Edison High School.

In addition, law enforcement officials seized nearly $24,000 in cash and confiscated 959 grams of XTC, 394 grams of cocaine, 98 grams of methamphetamine, 73 grams of heroin, 3.8 pounds of illegal marijuana, and 54 grams of fentanyl, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office said in a June 2 news release.

“Every gram, every speck, every pill of fentanyl is as dangerous as a bullet because it can take the life of an individual in a second,” said Salazar.

Stan McFadden, Stockton’s police chief, described some of the individuals that were arrested as “very dangerous people,” also listing a number of gangs with which those arrested were allegedly affiliated. The list includes the “Northside Gangster Crips,” “Muddy Boyz,” “West-Side Bloodz,” and the “Nightingale Bloodz.”

Officials confirmed that a total of 48 individuals have already been charged as part of the operation. The ages of the suspects range from as young as 18 to as old as 60.

“This community deserves the opportunity to thrive and flourish, and today the people of San Joaquin County are safer with these organized criminal elements off the streets,” said Salazar. “Those who commit harm, violence, and jeopardize the safety of this community will be held accountable.”

Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln celebrated the results of the gang takedown, expressing his gratitude to all the agencies involved.

“Enough is enough,” Lincoln said. “We have to protect the residents of this city. We have to protect the future of this city, and that’s our young people, our community. Our children do not deserve to experience what they’ve experienced over the last several months and the long-lasting trauma that lasts as a result of that.”

Feds arrest 32 in ‘Operation Blue Ghost’ child exploitation stings in Kansas and Missouri

A child exploitation investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security led to the arrests of 32 people in Kansas and Missouri, law enforcement officials announced Monday.

Of the 32 individuals arrested in an undercover investigation called Operation Blue Ghost, 15 were from the Independence, Clay County, and Platte County area, Homeland Security Investigations officials in Kansas City said.

Police and Homeland Security agents conducted an undercover operation in the Wichita area from May 17 to 19, resulting in 17 arrests for crimes related to aggravated human trafficking, promoting the sale of sex, and the purchase of commercial sex acts.

In Kansas City, federal and local law enforcement continued the investigation from May 31 to June 2 in the Independence, Platte County and Clay County area.

Fifteen more people were arrested for crimes including sex trafficking, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, second-degree attempted statutory rape, promoting prostitution, and enticement of a minor, Homeland Security officials in Kansas City said.

In both investigations, law enforcement targeted adults who were willing to travel for the sexual exploitation of a child.

“I am extremely proud of all of the special agents, analysts, and officers whose hard work and dedication made this operation a success,” said Sean Fitzgerald, acting special agent for Homeland Security in Kansas City. “Our joint commitment to protecting children has removed these 32 dangerous individuals from our streets and hopefully sends a clear message to others looking to harm children.”

Texas Lawmaker Proposes Ban on Minors Attending Drag Shows, Citing Viral Video of Kids Throwing Money at Drag Queens in Dallas Bar

A Republican Texas lawmaker on Monday announced he will be introducing legislation to ban minors from attending drag shows.

State Rep. Bryan Slaton cited viral video of children attending a drag show at a 21+ gay bar in Dallas over the weekend.

“The events of this past weekend were horrifying and show a disturbing trend in which perverted adults are obsessed with sexualizing young children,” Slaton said in a statement. “As a father of two young children, I would never take my children to a drag show and I know speaker Dade Phelan and the rest of my Republican colleagues wouldn’t either.”

“Protecting our own children isn’t enough and our responsibility as lawmakers extends to the sexualization that is happening across Texas,” he added.

Drag queens danced for little children this weekend at Mr. Misster, a gay bar in Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Misster put on a children’s drag show for gay pride month.

Parents brought their children to the 21+ gay bar on Saturday and cheered them on as they threw money at the queens.

Children were also invited to ‘walk the catwalk’ and perform with the drag queens.
