PHILADELPHIA – United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams announced today that former U.S. Congressman Michael “Ozzie” Myers, 79, of Philadelphia, PA, pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to deprive voters of civil rights, bribery, obstruction of justice, falsification of voting records, and conspiring to illegally vote in a federal election for orchestrating schemes to fraudulently stuff the ballot boxes for specific Democratic candidates in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 Pennsylvania elections.

Arizona judge upholds mail-in voting

The GOP asked the court to restrict mail-in voting for November's general election

A judge has ruled in favor of Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and others in fending off a challenge from the state’s Republican Party that said mail-in early voting violates the Arizona Constitution.

Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen ruled Monday that the state GOP didn’t show just cause that no-excuse mail-in voting violated Arizona’s constitutional right to a secret ballot.

“Defendants for the past thirty years have applied the laws of Arizona as written,” Jantzen wrote. “The laws are far from perfect and nobody anticipated thirty years ago that approximately 90 percent of Arizona voters would vote by mail-in ballot during a pandemic, but these laws are NOT in violation of the Arizona Constitution.”

The GOP asked the court to restrict mail-in voting for November's general election, not the August primary election that begins early voting one month from Monday.

Arizona began no-excuse mail-in voting in 1992. In the 2020 general election, 89% of state voters cast ballots before election day. Former President Donald Trump and others in the national and state GOP stress that Maricopa County’s election was fraudulent and must be overturned. Despite a partisan election review from the Republican-controlled state Senate and other analyses, no one has yet to come forward with conclusive proof of widespread election fraud.

The Associated Press obtained documents on June 1 reflecting an indictment of a San Luis woman who would collect and sometimes fill out ballots for people. The report said she was a “well-known Democratic operative.” AP said Guillermina Fuentes, 66, is accused of illegally facilitating fewer than a dozen ballots.

The Arizona Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal from GOP Chair Kelli Ward in April that challenged ballot boxes and remote voting.

The Center Square has reached out to the Arizona Republican Party for comment as well as whether they plan to appeal the ruling.

Democrats, who contend limiting mail-in voting would violate the state Constitution, lambasted the latest challenge.

"Arizona Democrats defended democracy and won, striking down the AZ GOP's shameful, embarrassing, and unconstitutional effort to try and end early voting in our state,” said Raquel Terán, Arizona Democratic Party chairwoman. “To the 89% of AZ voters who vote early, we are with you, and we will never stop defending your right to cast your ballot in Arizona’s long-standing safe, secure, and trusted electoral system.”

Illegal Alien Who Killed Kate Steinle Sentenced to Time Served

The illegal alien who killed Kate Steinle was sentenced to time served.

On July 1, 2015, beautiful California native, 32-year-old Kate Steinle was shot dead while walking with her father on Pier 24 in San Francisco. Steinle died two hours later as a result of her injuries.

The illegal immigrant claimed that he had found the weapon and was attempting to shoot a sea lion.

Illegal immigrant José Inez García Zárate was arrested and charged with her murder.

In November 2017 a San Francisco jury found the Kate Steinle’s killer Jose Zarate innocent of murder or manslaughter.

Garcia-Zarate had been deported five times and convicted of seven felonies before killing Steinle, but was acquitted of all murder and manslaughter charges. He was ultimately only convicted of being an ex-felon in possession of a gun.

A California federal judge on Monday sentenced the Mexican man acquitted of murder in the 2015 shooting death of a woman on a San Francisco pier to the seven years he’s already spent in jail — bringing to a legal close the case that ignited a national firestorm over immigration, crime and sanctuary cities.

Jose Inez Garcia Zarate was in the U.S. illegally when Kate Steinle, 32, was fatally shot along a crowded Pier 14 where she was walking with her father and a family friend. He faces deportation and U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria told him to never return to the U.S.

“If you return to this country again and you are back in front of me, I will not spare you. Let this be your last warning: do not return to this country,” Chhabria said before sentencing Garcia Zarate to the time he has already served.

Garcia Zarate will be sent to Texas, where he faces a federal judge for failing to report his location when he was released from a San Francisco jail shortly before the shooting. He had been deported five times and was on track to be removed from the U.S. again when he shot Steinle.

The maximum sentence on the firearms charges was 10 years. Prosecutors agreed to the sentence of time served plus three years of probation. Garcia Zarate’s lawyers wanted a shorter sentence so he could apply any time left over in case the judge in Texas imposes additional prison time.

Last September San Francisco Public Defender’s Office Chief Attorney Matt Garcia and Managing Attorney Francisco Ugarte, who represented Garcia-Zarate, took to Medium urging the Biden admin to drop the charges.

“After a unanimous jury exonerated Jose Ines Garcia Zarate on all state charges for the shooting death of Kate Steinle, he remains incarcerated. It’s been over six years since the tragedy, and nearly four years since his acquittal of murder and manslaughter. A California appellate court reversed his sole gun possession charge, holding the trial judge failed to properly instruct the jury on the ‘momentary possession’ defense,” the post began.

The Trojan horse app used by cops to infiltrate some of the world's most dangerous criminal gangs has led to police identifying more than 5000 members of the notorious Italian mafia, who are all living in Australia to conduct their illegal business.

The Australian Federal Police is investigating 51 Italian organised crime clans, including 14 from the infamous 'Ndrangheta mafia, a year after their secret app AN0M helped them launch one of the biggest and most significant crackdowns on organised crime in history.

The AFP now has an extensive file on mafia members living Down Under after last year's Operation Ironside, which was largely built on data taken from the encrypted app AN0M.

NSW is home to highest number of Italian crime clans with three found in Sydney and 14 allegedly conducting their business in regional NSW.

There are 14 in Victoria, nine in South Australia, five in the ACT, four in Western Australia and two in Queensland.

The clans operate nationwide and work closely with a wide range of organised crime groups including outlaw bikies, Middle Eastern gangs, Asian triads and South American cartels.

Police are now working with ­Colombian, US and Italian law enforcement authorities in a desperate bid to disrupt Italian organised crimes' global networks.
