Leonardo wins cyber security contract to protect European agency eu-LISA

Rome 06 May 2022 08:30

Leonardo, in partnership with the CRI Group (a VASS Company), will guarantee the cyber security of IT infrastructure and offices at eu-LISA, the European Agency for the operational management of large-scale IT systems in the areas of freedom, security and justice

The contract will last for 5 years and includes the implementation of a security governance and control strategy, the organisation of cyber security and continuous asset monitoring

Leonardo will monitor and manage cyber security operations protecting the corporate IT infrastructure at eu-LISA, the EU Digital agency which is at the forefront of Europe’s information-driven border management and internal security. Leonardo, in partnership with CRI Group (Computer Resources International Group, a European company specialising in IT services and technologies part of Spanish international group VASS, market leader in IT services), will deliver Lot 2 of the framework contract for the Provision of Managed ICT and Corporate IT Security Services for eu-LISA. eu-LISA is responsible, among other things, for the operational management of large-scale IT systems which are essential to the implementation of the EU’s asylum, border management and migration policies in Europe.

The contract is for 5 years and includes the supply of integrated cyber security services to protect all of eu-LISA’s sites: its headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia, its operations centre in Strasbourg, France, its business continuity site in Sankt Johann im Pongau, Austria, and its Brussels Liaison Office.

“We are very proud to have been chosen to deliver this important contract, a decision which reinforces Leonardo’s role as a trusted industry partner when it comes to securing strategic European assets,” said Tommaso Profeta, Managing Director of Leonardo's Cyber & Security Solutions Division. "Our expertise comes from the daily cyber protection of our technological know-how and over 100,000 critical infrastructure users around the world. Thanks to this, Leonardo is at the service of institutions and companies in the secure digital transformation of processes, targeting continuous innovation in compliance with European directives".

For eu-LISA’s cyber-security, Leonardo will take a system-level, multi-disciplinary approach, enabling the implementation of a security governance and control strategy, the organisation of cyber security activities and the continuous monitoring of assets. The company will provide services for IT perimeter defence, ensuring that the technology is continuously updated to remain efficient and effective, end-point protection management and public key infrastructure (PKI) security for the defence of sensitive data of users, devices, and applications. Leonardo's Global Security Operation Center (SOC) will be employed to continuously analyse vulnerabilities and threats and identify the best approach to deliver cyber security, taking into account the infrastructure specifics and best practice at a global level. IT assets will be monitored 24 hours a day to anticipate attacks, identify and respond effectively to incidents and mitigate any impacts.

The contract strengthens the partnership between eu-LISA and Leonardo, which has supported the Agency since 2019 in the implementation of security measures for its new EES (Entry/Exit System). This platform, cyber secure by design, will register the data of non-EU citizens crossing the external borders of the Union, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of controls and improving the security of European countries.
