>observed tornado

We had our Tornado experience last night. The rain at the leading edge was intense, the water ran the wrong way up the street (uphill) and the trees took a pounding. The eye of the storm was also intense but moved thru quickly followed by a much lighter rain.

The Ohio storm looks like ours stayed together and continues to head east.

Seen worse tbo. Considered moving to a lower floor and said, nah. There was no good sized hail, just a lot of water and the lightning was intense.

Biden falls up the stairs on "AF1" again. The wind blew him over [their story]

Resident Biden tripped while going up the steps of Air Force One before leaving for Los Angeles on June 8, 2022.

"Hours before President Biden taped a late-night comedy interview with ABC host Jimmy Kimmel, he attempted a pratfall of his own — tripping up the steps of Air Force One as he embarked on another day without a one-on-one interview with a journalist.

Biden’s stumble went largely unnoticed, in part because footage was not immediately published by TV outlets such as C-SPAN, which have access to unfiltered pooled feeds.

Just before his fall, Biden delivered a statement responding to Tuesday night’s latest round of primary elections — which featured the recall of far-left San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin.

“I think the voters sent a clear message last night,” he said. “Both parties have to step up and do something about crime, as well as gun violence.”

Biden took no questions from reporters before embarking on his fraught ascension of the Air Force One stairs. He also did not stop to speak to the press as he departed the White House Wednesday morning.

The president, 79, previously appeared to lose his balance navigating Air Force One’s steps last month as he traveled to Illinois. In March 2021, Biden fell repeatedly on the steps. The White House blamed that episode on windy weather at the airport."

"Biden will spend the next three days in Los Angeles as host of the Summit of the Americas, the run-up to which has been dominated by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s announcement that he would boycott the event after the White House declined to invite the leftist authoritarian leaders of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

Aboard Air Force One, a journalist pressed White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan for an explanation of why Biden did not schedule a press conference while in Los Angeles, which he has done while attending other summits overseas.

“I think it’d be hard to argue that he hasn’t taken many, many questions from the press,” Sullivan replied — despite the fact that Biden has done fewer interviews and press conferences than his predecessors, and it seemed unlikely that he would be pressed too hard by the reliably liberal Kimmel, the onetime co-host of Comedy Central’s bawdy “The Man Show.”

Biden’s most recent known one-on-one interview with a professional journalist was held on Feb. 10 with Lester Holt of NBC. The sitdown was recorded and aired three days later during the network’s pregame coverage of the Super Bowl.

On Feb. 25, Biden taped two separate podcasts — a roughly 13-minute talk with Democratic activist Brian Cohen and a nearly 30-minute conversation with left-leaning Boston College professor Heather Richardson. Cohen said afterward that “I’m not a journalist … I have my agenda and I think this White House is doing a good job trying to enact some of it. Our goals are aligned.”

On March 1, Biden hosted a traditional off-the-record lunch with TV anchors ahead of his first State of the Union address to Congress. He allowed attendees to report his remarks on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Biden also gave a two-word reply to CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins on March 18, saying as he passed her in the West Wing that his call that day with Chinese President Xi Jinping “went well.”

The president sat for just 28 interviews during his first year in office. By contrast, Donald Trump gave 95 interviews, Barack Obama did 162 and George W. Bush granted 50 interviews during their first year as president, according to records kept by White House Transition Project Director Martha Kumar.

There’s no official repositoryof presidential interviews — leaving the tabulations to informal record-keepers such as Kumar, former CBS News reporter Mark Knoller and the platform Factba.se. The counts can vary due to different standards for what counts as an interview and differing visibility into local or off-the-record interviews."

US tourist throws scooter down Rome’s Spanish Steps, causes $27,000 in damage

June 8, 2022

"A pair of American tourists were fined after one of them was caught on video hurling an electric scooter down Rome’s Spanish Steps — causing more than $26,000 worth of damage to the world-famous site.

The incident took place last Friday morning and was captured by a bystander.

In the video, an unnamed 29-year-old man is seen wheeling a rental scooter down the 18th century UNESCO World Heritage Site, where visitors were banned from sitting in 2018.

The man’s 28-year-old female companion walking behind him with her own e-scooter then shoves it down the iconic flight of stairs, where it lands with a loud thud, drawing peals of laughter from an onlooker off-camera.

According to the Italian-language newspaper La Repubblica, the woman hurled the scooter two more twice after that “for sheer amusement,” causing some of the marble steps to crack.

Local police later tracked down the couple and fined them the equivalent of $430 each. The two Americans were also banned from the monument. They were then allowed to return to their hotel, while their scooters were confiscated, reported Corriere Della Sera.

The incident comes two weeks after a 37-year-old engineer visiting Rome from Saudi Arabia drove a rental Maserati SUV down the Spanish Steps, reported The Guardian.

When the tourist was bust by police in Milan days later, he blamed the incident on his GPS device, which he claimed sent him down the wrong street. The unnamed man was charged with damaging the monument and agreed to pay for its repair.

Officials said the luxury vehicle cracked the monument’s 16th and 29th steps, and chipped other sections of the staircase as well.

In 2015, the Spanish Steps underwent a $1.6 million restorationto make it look the way it did in 1725, when it was unveiled by Pope Benedict XIII.

Google relents after Post fights censorship of YouTube interview with Jan. 6 rioter

June 8, 2022

Google said Wednesday it will allow a Post video interview with a Capitol rioter to remain on YouTube — after The Post exposed the platform’s censorship of the clip in a front-page story that pointed out the video helped convict the man.

The latest Big Tech attempt to squash The Post’s reporting occurred Monday when the Google-owned video site deleted the interview taped inside the Capitol — saying Brooklyn man Aaron Mostofsky, 35, spouted “misinformation.”

The video featuring Mostofsky, the son of Brooklyn judge Steven Mostofsky, was one of the only professional interviews conducted with a rioter inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. It was cited by many news outlets and the Justice Department used it to help prosecute Mostofsky, who last month was sentenced to eight months in prison.

Mostofsky, who was wearing fur pelts, a police vest and a riot shield that he said he “found,” said in the interview that he joined the first wave of intruders because the election was “stolen” from then-President Donald Trump, who had just finished making a speech with similar claims.

The interview was filmed near the Senate chamber’s doors as Vice President Mike Pence, lawmakers and most reporters fled the violent siege that disrupted certification of the 2020 election.
