The shooting took place in Smithsburg at around 2:30 p.m. and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said that there were “multiple fatalities” at the scene, according to NBC Washington. The condition of the victims was unclear.

The suspect was shot at the scene by police.

US Rep. David Trone, whose district includes the town, said he was monitoring a “mass shooting” in Smithsburg.

SMITHSBURG, Md. - Three people are reportedly dead after a shooting at a manufacturing facility in Smithsburg, Maryland, according to authorities.

FOX News confirms that the shooting happened at Columbia Machine on 12900 block of Bikle Road near Smithsburg High and Middle Schools.

Maryland State Police confirmed to FOX 5 that initial reports indicate three people were killed in the shooting.

The ATF's Baltimore office posted on Twitter that it is assisting the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with the shooting.

Investigators have not revealed any details about what led up to the incident."

"A judge has dismissed a lawsuit against The Washington Post and several of its editors that was filed by a staff reporter who alleged she faced discrimination on the job after she went public with her account of being a sexual assault victim.

In a ruling issued Friday in D.C. Superior Court, Judge Anthony C. Epstein said that politics reporter Felicia Sonmez had not demonstrated that The Post showed “discriminatory motive” when its editors decided to temporarily bar her from covering stories related to sexual harassment or misconduct.

Epstein noted that Sonmez alleged The Post reassigned her out of concerns “it had an advocate covering an issue she experienced.” However, that meant the company didn’t take action because of her victim status, he wrote, but rather to uphold an image of unbiased news coverage."
