Grossi: Iran plans to disconnect 20 IAEA cameras

Diplomats attending the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) meeting said that agency's Director-General, Rafael Grossi, declared that Iran plans to disconnect 20 IAEA surveillance cameras and other monitoring equipment.

This comes after the IAEA's Board of Governors adopted on Wednesday a draft resolution submitted by the US, France, UK, and Germany, criticizing Iran for what they claim were incomplete answers given to the IAEA on uranium traces at "undeclared sites". These claims were quickly refuted by the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, who said that Iran has neither secret or unwritten nuclear activities nor unreported nuclear sites.

Russia and China both voted against the anti-Iran resolution.

Before the release of the IAEA report that later led to the US and E3 submitting the draft, Grossi visited "Israel", which raised questions regarding the nature of the visit ahead of the BoG meeting, and led to suspicions regarding the IAEA's impartiality.

The AEOI also released a statement on Wednesday, wherein it announced that Tehran has made the decision to remove two of the IAEA's cameras from a nuclear facility.

Iranian news agency ISNA quoted Thursday an informed source as saying that Iran will speed up the production and installation of new generations of centrifuges, including the IR6, IR4, and IR2M generations.

According to the source, this is only one of a series of procedures to be taken by Iran, adding that the IAEA will be informed of them.

Iran's new move, which Grossi announced, seems to be one of those measures.

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/us-aims-to-boost-israel-arab-states-military-co-op-against-i

US aims to boost 'Israel', Arab states military co-op against Iran

The Department of State in Washington, DC, would join efforts with the Israeli occupation and several Arab states to bolster their aerial military capacities, which would offer them "protection" against Iran. The collaboration was part of proposed bipartisan legislation that will be introduced in Congress on Thursday.

This constitutes a new attempt by the US to strengthen its allies in West Asia following the signing of several normalization agreements between Arab states and the Israeli occupation.

Congressional aides have stressed that this proposal would prompt them to cooperate closely within the region.

The military aid would be provided to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), as well as Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, and the Israeli occupation. The draft legislation said the parties to the agreement would be provided with a wide array of arms and equipment that would "protect" them "from cruise and ballistic missiles, manned and unmanned aerial systems, and rocket attacks from Iran, and for other purposes."

Egypt and Jordan had normalized ties with "Tel Aviv" in 1980 and 1994, respectively, while Bahrain and the UAE joined the negotiations table with the occupation decades later in 2020 under the auspices of the United States. Iraq and the rest of the GCC, on the other hand, did not join the flock of normalizers yet.

Congress has long been championing security cooperation between Arab states and the Israeli occupation, especially after the latest round of normalization in 2020. This comes as "Tel Aviv" and Riyadh are expanding cooperation in several areas, mainly in the trade sector.

Israeli media reported Wednesday that relations between "Israel" and Saudi Arabia, "the most important Arab state in the Gulf", were growing warmer, with a new agreement on the horizon that will bring about new flight paths from occupied Palestine and through Saudi airspace

Though Riyadh did not normalize ties with the Israeli occupation yet, unlike Abu Dhabi and Manama, it has already kicked off economic normalization with "Tel Aviv". The Kingdom is already issuing special visas to Israeli settlers, with Israeli and Saudi sources saying there has been a hike in signed deals recently and advanced contact concerning investments of Saudi businessmen and investment funds in "Israel".

Dozens of Israeli businessmen traveled to Saudi Arabia for trade deals in recent months, Israeli media reported in late May.

The bids for the Israeli occupation to collaborate closely with regional states are underway due to the parties' shared "concerns" about Iran, the Washington Post reported.

Greater cooperation between "Tel Aviv" and its regional allies is pushing US lawmakers to discuss ways their military could operate differently in West Asia, as per Jon Alterman, a senior vice president of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

All of the names on the bill are either partners or allies of the United States, and though they all get the majority of their air defense systems from Washington, which also helps them figure out how to operate them, the US reportedly does not cooperate with the, and according to security experts, closer cooperation would provide all the members to the agreement with a better early warning system.

If the bill makes it through the House of Representatives and passes the Senate floor, the Arab states will see themselves sharing a radar with the Israeli occupation.

It is worth noting, however, that relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia have been souring lately, especially as Washington is asking the Gulf states to pump out more oil to "stabilize" the energy market tilted by the anti-Russian sanctions while the latter is declining its requests.

Russia vows immediate response if Kiev attacks with long-range systems

The Head of the Russian Delegation to the Negotiations on Military Security and Arms Control in Vienna, Konstantin Gavrilov, told the Rossiya-24 TV channel Thursday that Russia will respond immediately in the event that it is attacked with long-range weapon systems.

"We particularly put the spotlight on the delivery [to Ukraine] of long-range howitzers and HIMARS MLRS that threaten not only Donbass but Russia as well. We have clearly laid out Russia’s stance: if the Russian Federation is attacked with these long-range systems, the response against the decision-making centers will be immediate," he said, adding, "I think, this is happening not without the involvement of Ukraine’s military and political leadership. I am not ruling out anything anymore," Gavrilov stressed.

According to the diplomat, the Kiev regime had promised that Ukraine won’t use the HIMARS system to strike Russia, but these promises are "not worth a red cent."

Last week, the Pentagon has decided to provide High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) to Ukraine due to the nature of the conflict changing to an "artillery duel".

A senior administration official told reporters that the US would send M142 HIMARS, which have a range of approximately 77 km. He added that the missiles are part of a weapons package for Ukraine valued at $700 million.

As Washington insisted, Kiev assured that the US rocket systems would not be used against Russian territory targets.

However, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova asserted that these assurances were worthless and could not be trusted.

Resistance to prevent 'Israel' from extracting Karish gas: Nasrallah

What happened over the course of the past few days signals that Lebanon is entering a new stage.

This is evident through the British-Greek company setting up a rig in the Karish gas field within three months is a violation against Lebanon, putting it in a difficult situation, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Thursday during a televised speech regarding the latest regional political developments.

"With the maritime borders and the vast riches in the [Mediterranean] sea, Lebanon today is before an issue that must become a major national cause," Sayyed Nasrallah added.

A "neighboring treasure" is how the Hezbollah leader referenced the riches in the Mediterranean, stressing that all of the wealth lying within and beneath the waters of the sea belongs to all of the Lebanese people, and it is "the last remaining hope to rescue Lebanon from collapse."

He underlined the importance of protecting the national energy resources and wealth, extracting them, and making use of them after their extraction, stressing that this should be a goal for Beirut. "On the regional level, only Syria and Lebanon are not allowed to dig for oil and gas under the threat of sanctions," he highlighted.

"The first threat emitting from the violation of Lebanon's maritime borders is Lebanon being robbed of a large area and all the treasures and [gas] fields it contains," he explained after saying there were three threats facing Lebanon.

The second threat is that "Lebanon is prohibited from extracting its oil, and this is a problem the Lebanese people must find a solution for," he said.

The third one, he underscored, was Lebanon's gas fields being emptied. "In this case, the element of time becomes highly important, i.e., when the time comes that we are allowed to extract [gas], we might not find anything."

"The issues of water, oil, and gas extraction are no less important than the issue of liberating the occupied Lebanese borders [with Palestine]. This issue has many key aspects that must work as a motive to push everyone to act responsibly."

"The main goal should be preventing the enemy from extracting oil and gas from Karish and impeding the activity that will start or that might have already started," Sayyed Nasrallah noted. "Every day we are [not extracting oil], the Lebanese people will be losing wealth and money."

Violations on Karish will be brought to a halt

The Karish gas field is a red line; therefore, all that is extracted from it is contested, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed.

"It is not important where the ship has docked nor where the drilling and extraction are taking place. The dangerous aspect of the issue is that the enemy will start extracting oil from the common, contested gas field, while Lebanon is prohibited from extracting [resources] from its own areas and blocs that have nothing to do with the conflict."

Lebanon, he explained, has the right, the motive, and the utmost need and power, under the banner of "the army and the resistance", in this conflict over the Karish gas field. "The resistance surely has the financial, military, and security capabilities to prevent the enemy from extracting oil and gas from the Karish gas field."

Not all of the enemy's measures can protect the floating rig and the extraction of gas from the Karish oik field, he clarified. "The repercussions of any blunder that the Israeli occupation commits will not only be strategic; they will be existential. Whatever Israel loses in any war they are threatening would far exceed what Lebanon might lose."

The Israeli occupation navy had been preparing to secure the area by means of naval vessels situated both above and below the surface of the sea, including submarines. The IOF also pointed out that they are "working to transfer the Iron Dome system in its naval version to the region."

"The heads [of the republic, the parliament, and the government] having a united front with the backing of the state and all of its institutions gives strength to the Lebanese negotiator," he stressed, noting that it is necessary to leave all domestic disputes behind when discussing an issue as great as Lebanon's territorial integrity.

"We are up against an enemy that does not recognize international resolutions, and the only path it follows is that of using force and arrogance. As per experience, it does answer to any UN resolution. It only responds to resistance and pressure. It was forced to withdraw in 2000 and from the Gaza Strip."

The drilling ship's company is responsible for any damages

The resistance is one of the options available to the Lebanese state and the Lebanese people in this confrontation for wealth, Sayyed Nasrallah highlighted, underlining that the resistance would not stand idle as the Israeli occupation robs Lebanon of its treasures and wealth and the only hope for saving its people.

"Everything is on the table for the resistance […] we do not want a war, but we do not fear one, but Israel must halt its activities in the Karish field and swiftly and immediately withdraw its ship from there," Sayyed Nasrallah warned.

"The company that owns the drilling ship should swiftly withdraw it, and it should be fully responsible for any losses, whether material or human," he added. "We have the right to do everything needed to collect the required information to execute any option that we might resort to."

The resistance, the leader said, will closely and thoroughly follow up on the situation. He also announced that Hezbollah has now assembled a file on everything related to gas, oil, and the wealth at sea and on land, as well as the demarcation of the borders and the Shebaa Farms.

"This file is about the demarcation of the maritime borders and the Lebanese economic zone. We also added to it all that is related to the [Lebanese] borders. It is headed by former MP Nawwaf Al-Mousawi," Sayyed Nasrallah revealed.

"The US-Israeli strategy is pushing Lebanon to the brink of famine, which is jeopardizing social security and is worse than a civil war […] it is not a matter of borders, but the fate of a country," he explained.

The head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, Hashem Safi Al-Din, said on Sunday that Lebanon had the ability and effectiveness to extract its gas and oil, away from all means of pressure that some Lebanese fear.

"What is required is a united official and popular stance […] only then will we surely emerge victorious from this battle."

Israeli media reported Monday that the IOF was anticipating Hezbollah’s possible response to the placement of the new Energean platform in the Karish field, a contested maritime zone, to extract gas. On Sunday, the new platform was installed, at a distance of 80km away from Haifa, by the British-Greek exploration company Energen.

Israeli government-funded Kan TV channel said that these preparations come in light of the Lebanese warnings against any Israeli "aggressive action" in the disputed waters.

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/congress-jan-6-hearings-will-be-choreographed-to-be-tv-spect

Congress Jan. 6 hearings will be choreographed to be "TV spectacular"

The US House select committee investigating the Capitol riot will open its hearings on Thursday evening, doing so in TV primetime, and with the production values to match.

The seven Democrats and two Republicans sitting on the panel are doing all that they can to get the public to concentrate on the hearings, and draw their attention, going so far as to bring in a former president of ABC News, James Goldston, a veteran of mass-market TV programs.

Goldston is expected to choreograph the six public hearings into movie-length episodes ranging from 90 minutes to two and a half hours.

In short, he needs to fulfill the prediction made by one of the committee's Democrats, Jamie Raskin: That the hearings "will tell a story that will really blow the roof off the House."

Moreover, "activists" will host dozens of watch parties, and events are scheduled to take place around the country, such as the Robert Taft Memorial and Carillon in Washington where attendees can watch these events on a jumbotron.

The hearings

The committee is expected to focus during its opening session on the activities of extremist groups, such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.

The Proud Boys' national chairman was charged this week by the Justice Department with seditious conspiracy. Four of the group's other leaders were charged as well.

The hearings will show previously unseen footage that will be edited for "maximum effect" on TV and social media, showing the violence that took place during the storming of the Capitol.

They will also aim to show that the riot was instigated, organized, and planned by an array of actors.

As for Trump, the hearings should not give the impression that they are an attack on him. But still, he will be left for the final hearing, and will show clips from the committee's interview with the former president's daughter and her husband, Jared Kushner.

In order to counteract the impact of the hearings, the Republican leadership is planning a slew of counter-programming measures to undermine them, hoping that the American people will be so bored by January 6 and distracted by Ukraine and other worries, that they will avoid tuning in.

Iran to speed up production, installation new generation centrifuges

Iranian news agency ISNA quoted Thursday an informed source as saying that Iran will speed up the production and installation of new generations of centrifuges, including the IR6, IR4, and IR2M generations.

According to the source, this is only one of a series of procedures to be taken by Iran, adding that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will be informed of them.

This comes after the IAEA's Board of Governors adopted on Wednesday a draft resolution submitted by the US, France, UK, and Germany, criticizing Iran for what they claim were incomplete answers given to the IAEA on uranium traces at "undeclared sites"; claims which were refuted by Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami who said that Iran has neither secret or unwritten nuclear activities nor unreported nuclear sites.

On Wednesday, Iran's delegate to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohammad Reza Ghaebi, strongly condemned the decision made by the agency's Board of Governors to adopt the resolution drafted by the US and the E3 that demands more "transparency and cooperation" from Iran.

Ghaebi asserted that this resolution only serves unjust political goals by some of the IAEA members and that the allegations present in the Director-General's report on the locations in question in Iran are based on lies propagated by "Israel".

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) released a statement on Wednesday, wherein it announced that Tehran has made the decision to remove two of the IAEA's cameras from a nuclear facility.

The cameras were stopped as they were not part of Iran's commitment to the comprehensive Safeguards agreement.

The Iranian organization's Spokesperson Behrouz Kamalvandi said all beyond-Safeguards cameras recording data in Iran's nuclear sites were turned off “in accordance with the Strategic Law on the Lifting of Sanctions approved by the Majlis (Parliament)."

Kamalvandi further added that "Iran cannot be cooperative while the Agency displays unreasonable behavior. We hope the Agency will come to its senses and respond with cooperation with Iran."

It is noteworthy that the IAEA’s adoption of the resolution comes after a surprising meeting between the Director-General of the Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi, and the Israeli occupation Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, in "Tel Aviv" on June 3.

DPR sentences to death captured UK mercenaries fighting with Ukraine

Three mercenaries, two from the UK and one from Morocco, were sentenced to death on Thursday in the DPR for fighting alongside Ukrainian militias and armed forces.

The president of the Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, has accused the three of "monstrous crimes".

British mercenaries Aiden Aslin, 28, and Shaun Pinner, 48, in addition to Moroccan Saadun Brahim, were convicted by a Donetsk court on charges of terrorism.

UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss released a statement condemning the sentence, calling it "a sham judgment with absolutely no legitimacy."

The three defendants plead guilty to the charges yesterday. Russian media outlet RIA Novosti reported that the three are set to face a firing squad.

However, according to The Guardian, an official said that the men would have one month to appeal their sentence, and if the appeal is accepted, the defendants would receive a 25-year or life sentence instead of the death penalty.

The two Britons had recently gone on camera in order to request that the UK Prime Minister facilitate their exchange for detained Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk.
