The Rothschilds' youngest son has transformed himself from the 'worst sort of drunken boor' to a hedge fund manager with an abiding interest in Russia.

Rothschild's links with Russia run deep. His "best friend" is Roman Abramovich, but it is the contacts and local knowledge of their mutual friend, Oleg Deripaska, that have proved most useful. Rothschild sees his role as "trying to guide Deripaska on how to deal with the West". But it works both ways, says the Evening Standard: Deripaska facilitated a series of lucrative investments in former Soviet republics and last year TriGranit, a Hungarian investment fund in which Rothschild has a large stake, agreed a £3.5bn real estate venture with Gazprom. But their most startling venture is a plan to transform Montenegro into a "new Monaco" by building the world's first super-yacht marina.

Nat Rothschild Gains Montenegrin Passport

Nathaniel Philip Victor James Rothschild, fabulously wealthy heir to one of the world's most powerful dynasties, has been granted Montenegrin citizenship, it was reported on Monday.

Nat, became better known in Montenegro in 2011 when he celebrated his 40th birthday in the the newly built Porto Montenegro yacht marina in the Bay of Kotor.
Marina Abramovic, the Belgrade-born performance artist, actors Milena Dravic and Dragan Nikolic and footballer Dragan Dzajic are also on the list of naturalized Montenegrins.

Porto Montenegro is a new superyacht marina and waterfront community development in the mountain-fringed harbour, Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. The natural deep-water harbour was a former Tivat naval base called Arsena, located along the Adriatic coastline.
The project is being developed by a new company, Adriatic Marinas. A 54% stake of the company is owned by Canadian businessman Peter Munk. Other investors include Jacob Rothschild, Sandro Demijan, Oliver Corlette, Oleg Deripaska, Anthony Munk, Bernard Arnault and Nathaniel Rothschild.
