White House Contractor Wanted For Attempted Murder Cuffed On The Premises

A 30-year-old White House contractor wanted for attempted murder was arrested as he reported to work at the White House complex Tuesday, authorities said.

U.S. Secret Service agents apprehended Martese Edwards as he entered a checkpoint for the complex about noon, according to a spokesperson for the federal agency.

Agents were tipped off Monday when his name and date of birth was added to the Criminal Justice Information System database, the spokesperson said.

Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. David Brown said the warrant was issued on May 17, two weeks after an incident in Suitland, Md., where Edwards lives.A detective for Prince George’s County Police Department requested the warrant, he said.
