Independent Federal Agencies- what are they???
The President is responsible for day-to-day enforcement of the federal government under Article II. 15 executive departments are led by a member of the President’s cabinet to carry this out. Independent Executive AGENCIES assist (their heads are not part of the Cabinet but are under the full authority of the President according to whitehouse.gov).
CIA , EPA, Farm Credit Association and Amtrak are independent agencies with no parent agency. Usa.gov/federal-agencies/
A USAjobs announcement lists a CIA job as NOT a federal position- it’s listed as an independent agency which got me wondering, but hell if I can find out who really cuts the checks. Closest I can figure is they are private companies with core funding provided by federal government (like FFRDCs).
If anyone’s interested, there are a LOT of CIA jobs being run on usajobs.gov right now.
