In the fall of 2019, Facebook announced that it would be writing selected media outlets some very big checks. The launch of Facebook News was billed as a way to give consumers more access to information, but it was actually an attempt at appeasing big media companies. Facebook, with its older and more conservative user base, had become the epicenter of election conspiracies from the Clinton campaign and its media allies. While Hillary Clinton and her associates were eager to shift the blame for her defeat by relaunching their existing Russiagate smears with false claims that Russian Facebook ads had tilted the election to Trump

Trump-endorsed Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt secured the Republican nomination in a landslide victory on Tuesday, according to projections from the New York Times. Former Nevada Attorney General Laxalt beat his competitor Sam Brown 56 percent to 33 percent when the Times called the race with just 40 percent of votes counted by 10:00 p.m. PDT. Laxalt pulled off a victory after leading in the polls by double digits in the months leading up to the primary election. No other candidate received over four percent. Laxalt heavily benefited from the endorsements of conservative heavyweights, including former President Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). He also has a well-established record from prior leadership

Mount Pleasant - U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, a freshman South Carolina Republican who drew Donald Trump’s ire after openly criticizing the former president in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol attack, fended off a fierce primary challenge from Katie Arrington, surviving Trump’s public political crusade against her. Arrington, a Summerville Republican who jumped into the congressional contest in early February, conceded to Mace shortly after 11 p.m. June 14 at about the same time Mace was on-stage delivering a victory speech. Arrington endorsed Mace as she looks toward the general election, agreeing Mace won the race “fair and square,” prompting some of her supporters

Republican Mayra Flores prevailed Tuesday in a special election for an open congressional seat in South Texas, marking a major breakthrough for Republicans eager to blaze new inroads in the historically blue region. She beat Dan Sanchez, the leading Democrat, outright in the closely watched race and will be the first Mexican-born congresswoman. She will get to serve only until January, but Republicans heralded her win as a shot of momentum in their new South Texas offensive. With all precincts reporting Tuesday night, Flores had 50.98% of the vote and Sanchez had 43.33%.
