Putin: Unipolar Order Has Ended, West Headed For "Change Of Elites" As Russia Emerges Stronger

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed in further remarks given before the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that anti-Russian sanctions have only come back to hurt the people of the EU and the West broadly, amid soaring gas and food prices, inflation fears, and severe supply chain shortages. He declared the end of the unipolar world as we know it, saying, "Over the past decades, new powerful centers have been formed on the planet […] each of them develops their own political system and public institutions, implements their own models of economic growth, and, of course, has the right to protect themselves, to ensure national sovereignty. We are talking about real processes, about truly revolutionary, tectonic changes in geopolitics, global economy, the technological sphere, in the entire system of international relations". And more, according to a state-backed media translation:

The Russian president criticized the European Union over the decision to impose anti-Russia sanctions, calling it "crazy" and "not well thought out". Putin said that their goal was to crush the Russian economy in one go, but that they have failed to achieve this.

Instead, EU politicians delivered a serious blow to their own economies, prompting high inflation, the president stressed. He estimated the costs of the "sanctions fever" to be around $400 billion this year alone and noted that the measures will become a burden on regular people's shoulders.

"It is clear why they waged this propaganda campaign, what all these spells about 200-to-1 ruble-dollar exchange rates and claims that our economy would collapse were all about. All this was - and remains - a tool in the information warfare, an attempt to put psychological pressure on Russian society," he continued, stressing further that "some global currencies are committing suicide".

On the EU, he said: "The European Union has completely lost its political sovereignty, and its bureaucratic elites are dancing to someone else’s tune, accepting whatever they are told from above, causing harm to their own population and their own economy."

He said there will be a "change of elites" in the West as part of the "revolutionary" shift initiated by the Ukraine war and the US-Europe overreaching: "Such a detachment from reality, from the demands of society, will inevitably lead to a surge of populism and the growth of radical movements, to serious social and economic changes, to degradation, and in the near future, to a change of elites," Putin said.

Wikileak’s Julian Assange Will Face Espionage Charges In The US After Extradition Order Signed By UK

The U.K.’s Home Secretary Priti Patel has officially signed an order to extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States, where he faces espionage charges, the Home Office announced Friday.

In a hearing in April, U.K. Home Secretary Priti Patel moved to solidify Assange’s transfer to the U.S. after a multi-year legal battle that had him held in prison.

According to the Home Office, Assange has 14 days to appeal Friday’s decision.

Britain’s Home Office said in a statement Friday that U.K. courts have not found that extradition of Julian Assange would be incompatible with his human rights.

“The U.K. courts have not found that it would be oppressive, unjust or an abuse of process to extradite Mr. Assange. Nor have they found that extradition would be incompatible with his human rights, including his right to a fair trial and to freedom of expression, and that whilst in the U.S. he will be treated appropriately, including in relation to his health,” it said.

The Home Office clarified his right to appeal the decision by saying, “Mr Assange has the right to apply to the High Court for leave to appeal against the decisions of both the District Judge and the Secretary of State’s decision to order extradition. An application must be made within 14 days of Mr. Assange being notified of the Home Secretary’s decision.”

Assange has been fighting extradition to the United States. U.K. Judge Vanessa Baraitser denied an extradition request by the U.S. government last year due to concerns over Assange’s mental health.

Judge Baraitser’s ruling was overturned in an appeal by the U.S. government in December. The move prompted Assange’s legal team to petition the U.K.’s highest court for an appeal of their own.

In March, NBC News reported that the court refused his appeal because the case “didn’t raise an arguable point of law.”

“Monday’s news narrows Assange’s options, but his defense team may still seek to take his case to the European Court of Human Rights or challenge the original judge’s other findings,” the report explains. “Barry Pollack, Assange’s U.S.-based lawyer, said Monday that it was ‘extremely disappointing’ that Britain’s Supreme Court is unwilling to hear the appeal.”

Assange is wanted in the U.S. on 18 criminal charges after his news organization published thousands of classified documents in 2010. If convicted, he faces a sentence of up to 175 years in prison.

The Wikileaks documents in question revealed that the U.S. military had killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents in Afghanistan. Other leaked records showed that 66,000 civilians had been killed and prisoners tortured by Iraqi forces.

The U.S. says the publication of those documents broke the law and endangered lives. However, Assange says the legal action of the U.S. is politically motivated.

Last January, a lower judge ruled that while the U.S. had a case to prosecute Assange, he could not be sent from the U.K. to stand trial because there was no guarantee that American authorities would assure his safety while imprisoned.

Amid fears that he would be subject to intense solitary confinement, lawyers for Assange argued his mental health meant the U.S. would likely not stop him from taking his own life.

FDA Authorizes The COVID Jab For Kids Five Years and Under

The Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines have officially been authorized for emergency use in young children by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to allow vaccination in children as young as 6 months.

The FDA announced the move in a press release on Friday morning.

However, vaccines cannot officially be given to children until the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) vaccine advisers vote to recommend them. The move from the CDC appears to be a simple formality, and a vote is scheduled for Saturday.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has already signed off on the recommendation.

The White House said Thursday that vaccinations for America’s youngest children might begin next week.

Moderna’s vaccine is now authorized for use in children six months through 17 years, and Pfizer/BioNTech’s for children six months through 4 years.

The latest authorization means that an additional 17 million kids under the age of 5 are now eligible for Covid-19 vaccines.

“Many parents, caregivers and clinicians have been waiting for a vaccine for younger children and this action will help protect those down to 6 months of age. As we have seen with older age groups, we expect that the vaccines for younger children will provide protection from the most severe outcomes of COVID-19, such as hospitalization and death,” FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert M. Califf said in a news release.

“Those trusted with the care of children can have confidence in the safety and effectiveness of these COVID-19 vaccines and can be assured that the agency was thorough in its evaluation of the data.”

So far, 49 states have pre-ordered the vaccine for children under five. Only Florida has chosen, under the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis, not to order the vaccine. DeSantis has repeatedly said that the state is opposed to vaccine programs for young children.

New Mexico Supreme Court Sides with Corrupt Sec. of State – Mandates County Certify Illegitimate Primary Results

New Mexico’s Supreme Court has sided with the corrupt Secretary of State and is mandating that Otero County certify illegitimate results in the recent New Mexico primary.

TGP has reported on the corrupt actions in New Mexico’s elections in recent posts. Recently, Otero County voted to get rid of the Dominion Voting system used in the county. (Commissioner Couy Griffin in pic above.)

This past week, the Otero County Commission voted to withhold certification of the recent primary results due to the Dominion machines not being in compliance with state law.

In response, the corrupt New Mexico Sec. of State petitioned the state’s Supreme Court to for the county to certify. This was explained by attorney David Clement.

Last night, New Mexico’s Supreme Court has ordered a GOP-led commission to recognize the primary results in the southern Otero County after it refused to do so over baseless voting machine concerns.

According to court documents obtained by local news outlet KOB4, the state’s top court ordered the county’s commission on Wednesday to approve the results of the 2022 primary election no later than Friday.

The three-person commission in the county last week declined to certify the results of a June 7 primary election, citing bogus issues it had with Dominion vote-tabulating machines used — though it was unable to point to any specific issue.

New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, a Democrat, sued the commission on Tuesday and asked the Supreme Court to intervene, citing “illegal actions to disenfranchise” the state’s voters.

“New Mexico’s 2022 Primary Election was conducted with the highest standards of election administration by dedicated county clerks and civil servants across our state,” Toulouse Oliver said in a statement.

Mail In Votes Catapult Radical Karen Bass Ahead of Primary Challenger With 8-Point Swing in LA Mayoral Race – Final Results Wont be Known “For Days or Weeks”

On Tuesday, Radical Democrat Rep. Karen Bass (CA) leapfrogged billionaire developer Rick Caruso – a Republican turned independent, who then turned Democrat – in the primary race for mayor of Los Angeles after a flurry of mail-in votes caused a massive eight-point swing in the voting results.

Caruso, who is running as a political outsider promising to fix homelessness and crime in the city and was leading the race by five points following the initial tally from in-person polls, is now trailing the extremely ‘progressive’ Bass by -3 with roughly 33% of the vote (245,000 ballots) left to count.

Many of the remaining ballots are mail-ins.

In the week since the polls were open on June 7th, Caruso’s lead dwindled as officials began counting the mail-in ballots, eventually leading to the shocking reversal in favor of Bass, a radical left-wing activist who religiously attacked President Trump during his time in office, leading the Democrat’s wild charge to impeach him twice while she served in Congress.

And it wasn’t just Bass who benefitted from a surge of late mail-in ballots. Far-left candidates across all races experienced a massive bump, including candidates for city attorney and several city council seats.

Is this just a preview of 2020, round 2?

From The Los Angeles Times:

“Rep. Karen Bass pulled ahead of rival Rick Caruso in the primary election for Los Angeles mayor on Tuesday after a surge of vote-by-mail ballots boosted the congresswoman and several other progressive candidates.

Over the last week, a flood of late-arriving mail ballots propelled left-of-center candidates in races for mayor, city attorney and multiple council seats…

…The mail-in ballots also helped progressive candidates in races against incumbent council members.”

Oddly enough, the massive swings in favor of radical Democrats come at the same time that California voters are somewhat rejecting woke officials and issuing recalls. Just this month – in a huge blow to ‘progressive policing’ policies nationwide, Soros-linked San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin was officially replaced by angry voters, and, just days ago in Los Angeles, citizens were able to gather enough signatures to recall Soros-linked DA George Gascon. He will face a public vote soon.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Western nations of damaging their own economies through money printing while wrongly blaming their problems on the Ukraine conflict.

“The latest price hikes, inflation, problems with food and fuel, gasoline, problems in the energy sector are the result of systemic mistakes in the economic policy of the current US administration and the European bureaucracy,” Putin said on Friday at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

German Official Warns Of Gas Shortages, Bankruptcies, Massive Price Hikes That Will Send "Shockwaves Throughout The Country"

A gas shortage and high prices will send “shockwaves through the country,” leading to landlords cutting the heat for tenants and widespread company bankruptcies, warned Klaus Müller, the head of Germany’s Federal Network Agency, which is the regulatory office for electricity, gas, telecommunications, postal services, and railway markets.

Müller paints a bleak picture about the crisis in an interview with German newspaper Rheinische Post, saying it will “send shockwaves throughout the country. Banks will ramp up their business with installment loans, and ailing companies will fall into insolvency.”

Müller’s office, which is a federal agency within the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, has a bird’s eye view of the economic situation in Germany and also special insight into how economic conditions will develop into the future.

Müller says he expects gas prices to continue to climb, resulting in increased inflation that goes far beyond energy. He also warns that there will be a dramatic lack of gas in the winter, which could lead to landlords turning down the heat to save on energy. In turn, Germans may have to grapple with colder apartments.

In a sign that the German government is operating under the assumption that a potential crisis could develop in winter, there are already talks about potentially lowering heating requirement for landlords.

“Tenancy law stipulates that the landlord must adjust the heating system during the heating period so that the minimum temperature falls between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. The government could temporarily lower the heating requirements for landlords. We are discussing this with politicians,” Müller said.

Top ‘Fact Checker’ USA Today Forced to Delete Articles Over Fabricated Sources

USA Today, which is used as a ‘fact checker’ by social media platforms, was forced to delete 23 articles from its website after an investigation found one of its reporters had fabricated sources.

Well, this is awkward.

The news outlet has an entire section of its website dedicated to ‘fact checking’ and is used by Facebook to ‘fact check’ stories published by other outlets, downranking them in algorithms in a form of soft censorship.

However, it appears as though USA Today should have devoted more resources to fact checking itself before publishing articles by its own staff.

“USA Today’s breaking news reporter Gabriela Miranda fabricated sources and misappropriated quotes for stories, the news outlet confirmed on Thursday. The outlet conducted an internal audit after receiving an “external correction request” on one of its published stories,” reports Breitbart.

The 23 articles which were removed for not meeting the paper’s “editorial standards” included pieces on the Texas abortion ban, anti-vaxxer content and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Miranda, who has now resigned from her position, “took steps to deceive investigators by producing false evidence of her news gathering, including recordings of interviews,” according to the New York Times.

“After receiving an external correction request, USA TODAY audited the reporting work of Gabriela Miranda. The audit revealed that some individuals quoted were not affiliated with the organizations claimed and appeared to be fabricated. The existence of other individuals quoted could not be independently verified. In addition, some stories included quotes that should have been credited to others.”

As we previously highlighted, USA Today was also forced to hastily delete a series of tweets which critics said were tantamount to the normalization of pedophilia after the newspaper cited “science” to assert that pedophilia was “determined in the womb.”

The newspaper was also lambasted by critics after it ‘fact checked’ as “true” claims that an official Trump 2020 t-shirt features a ‘Nazi symbol’.

In February last year, the news outlet published an op-ed which denounced Tom Brady for refusing to walk back his previous support for Donald Trump and for being “white.”

The newspaper also had to fire their ‘race and inclusion’ editor Hemal Jhaveri after she falsely blamed the Boulder supermarket shooting on white people.

In summary, USA Today has a severe bias problem and shouldn’t be used as a non-partisan ‘fact checker’.

More wealth protection scams

Google co-founder Sergey Brin — who’s worth $93 billion — files for divorce

Sergey Brin — the Google co-founder who is the seventh-richest person in the world with a net worth of $93 billion — has filed to divorce his wife of four years, according to a report.

Brin, 48, filed divorce papers to end his marriage to Nicole Shanahan, a lawyer and entrepreneur who is in her late 30s, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to Insider.

Shanahan reportedly started seeing Brin sometime in 2015. The two married in a low-key ceremony on Nov. 7, 2018. The couple have a daughter and have been separated since Dec. 15, 2021, according to court filings submitted in Santa Clara County, Calif.

Brin has asked that he and Shanahan have joint custody of their daughter. He is not seeking child support from Shanahan, and is asking that she is not awarded it, either, according to Insider, which first obtained the divorce papers.

The Post has reached out to Brin and Shanahan seeking comment on the divorce, which could be in the running to join the most expensive of all time, including those of fellow tech tycoons Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Elon Musk.

According to Insider, the court filings “emphasize Brin and Shanahan’s desire for secrecy around the proceedings, and they have attempted to have much of the case placed under seal.”

“Petitioner is a co-founder of Google and one of the wealthiest and most famous technology entrepreneurs in the world. Because of the high-profile nature of their relationship, there is likely to be significant public interest in their dissolution and child custody issues,” a filing from Brin’s lawyers reads.

“Of great concern is that such publicity puts their minor child at risk of danger, harassment, and even kidnapping, if the specifics of their day-to-day whereabouts are exposed to the public,” the filing warned.

The court filings don’t specify what assets Brin and Shanahan jointly own or how they will be divided. Instead, they merely confirm that some do exist, the details of which “are to be determined,” according to Insider.

“All issues as to the property rights or obligations of the parties will be determined by confidential binding arbitration in accordance with a written agreement between the parties,” one of the court documents reads.

Brin is being represented in the divorce proceedings by the Bay Area law firm Hanson, Crawford, Crum Family Law Group, LLP, while Shanahan has hired Los Angeles-based firms Spector Law Firm, APLC and Meyer, Olson, Lowy & Meyers, LLP, according to Insider.

The couple is using a privately paid “temporary judge” to oversee their case — a pricier arrangement that can help expedite legal proceedings, the news site reported. The judge’s fees are $950 an hour, plus an extra $300 per hour for a legal assistant, according to the site.

Shanahan is the founder of Bia-Echo Foundation, a private fund dedicated to environmental and social justice causes.

Shanahan had been public about her own struggles to get pregnant. In 2018, she and Brin co-founded a center at the medical research firm Buck Institute devoted to fertility issues.

This is the second time that Brin has gotten divorced. In 2015, he and his first wife, 23andMe co-founder Anne Wojcicki, filed for divorce. The two share two children whom they co-parent.

In 2013, Brin and Wojcicki separated after she discovered that her then-husband was having an affair with a Google employee, Amanda Rosenberg.

In 2014, Vanity Fair reported that Wojcicki discovered emails between Brin and Rosenberg sometime in late 2012 or early 2013. In April 2013, Brin moved out of the couple’s multimillion-dollar Los Altos, Calif., mansion, where they were living with their two young children.

Biden Administration to Launch Online Harassment Task Force

Vice President Harris will lead the panel while numerous Biden cabinet members are listed as members

Vice President Harris on Thursday launched a new task force aimed at countering and preventing online harassment and abuse. “For far too many people the internet is a place of fear,” Harris said.

Biden commissioned the task force via executive order on Thursday. It will be charged with developing recommendations for state governments, online platforms, schools and other public and private entities within six months.

Biden’s task force “aims to address the growing problem of online harassment and abuse which disproportionately targets women, girls and LGBTQI+ people,” a White House official told reporters in a call Wednesday, according to NBC News.

The White House pointed to the recent shootings in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, New York when justifying the need for the online harassment task force. According to the administration, the internet plays a role in in fueling “hate, misogyny, and abuse with spillover effects that threaten our communities and safety offline.”

The panel’s recommendations will aim “to prevent and address technology-facilitated gender-based violence, including a focus on the nexus between online misogyny and radicalization to violence,” the White House said.

Guidance will include increased interagency cooperation on prevention efforts. It will also boost data collection and research with a particular emphasis on the effects of social media on adolescents. In addition, the White House hopes to boost training for federal, state and local officials.

The effort will fall under the umbrella of the White House’s Gender Policy Council and National Security Council. According to NBC News, the panel is “part of a campaign promise Biden made to work at ending gender-based violence and tackling online harassment, abuse and stalking.”

Members of the task force will include Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, among about a dozen others.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that she could not provide more information on the task force during a press briefing. Jean-Pierre instructed reporters to talk with the vice president’s team because she was “not on the background call.”

The announcement comes just weeks after plans for a DHS-led “Disinformation Governance Board” were scrapped.

Zucker’s former top deputy Rebecca Kutler becomes latest exec to leave CNN

A veteran CNN executive who is credited with contributing to the success of star talent such as Abby Phillip and Van Jones is the latest senior officer to depart the network, according to a report.

Rebecca Kutler, who held the title of senior vice president and head of programming for the now-defunct streaming service CNN+, is on her way out, according to Variety.

Kutler, who was a top deputy for former network boss Jeff Zucker, was in charge of overseeing CNN’s roster of analysts, contributors, and commentators.

As part of her portfolio, she was executive producer for primetime host Don Lemon as well as political anchor John King.

She was also instrumental in recruiting top-flight names such as Kasie Hunt, Chris Wallace, and Audie Cornish to CNN+.

CNN+ was the highly touted streaming service that was heavily promoted by the mothership in the weeks and months leading to its March 29 launch.

But it was shut down just weeks after CNN came under the corporate umbrella of the newly merged entity Warner Bros. Discovery.

The poor subscriber numbers coupled with Warner Bros. Discovery plans to bundle its streaming platforms that include HBO Max and Discovery meant that CNN+ was expendable.

After CNN+ was shut down, another top executive, Andrew Morse, who oversaw the launch of the short-lived streaming channel, announced that he would resign.

In late May, Meredith Artley, the editor in chief of CNN Digital, also said she was leaving.

Alex MacCallum, the interim chief of CNN’s digital operations, has resigned effective June 30.

Google ‘infiltrated by religious cult,’ ex-employee claims in lawsuit

Google has been accused of employing a large number of people belonging to an unusual religious group in California.

The Fellowship of Friends is a group that believes most of us are living in a state of “waking sleep.”

According to The New York Times, the Fellowship of Friends is a “cult-like religious sect” that’s infiltrated Google.

The group has reportedly gained a powerful position at the tech giant and has started to hire more members of the “cult-like sect”.

The New York Times says the takeover has been happening for years.

A former employee is now said to be suing over the situation.

Former Google employee Kevin Lloyd told the NYT: “Once you become aware of this, you become responsible.”

That’s why Lloyd is putting a legal case against Google.

He’s using a lawyer that won $6.5 million for a client who claimed she hadn’t been promoted because she wasn’t a member of the Fellowship of Friends.

It’s unclear how many Google employees are actually members of the Fellowship.

The group is also known as Living Presence and the Fourth Way School.

It has faced multiple damning accusations in the past and the new lawsuit accuses it of having a history of sex trafficking.

The Fellowship was founded by Robert Earl Burton in 1970.

He predicted that civilization is doomed and his group aims to form a new civilization after the one we know now is over.

We reached out to Google for comment and a spokesperson told us: “We have long-standing employee and supplier policies in place to prevent discrimination and conflicts of interest, and we take those seriously.

“It’s against the law to ask for the religious affiliations of those who work for us or for our suppliers, but we’ll of course thoroughly look into these allegations for any irregularities or improper contracting practices.

“If we find evidence of policy violations, we will take action.

“We investigated the concerns Mr. Lloyd raised in his lawsuit, and confirmed that his vendor assignment ended due to well-documented performance issues.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) has admitted that the very lockdown policies it advocated for have been instrumental in a drastic increase in mental health issues on a global scale.

In a report published on Friday, the World Health Organization claimed that anxiety and depression rose globally by a staggering 25 per cent in the first year of Chinese coronavirus lockdowns, alone. As a result, the report estimated that over one billion people worldwide are now suffering from mental health issues.

“Restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic for example had significant mental health consequences for many, including stress, anxiety or depression stemming from social isolation, disconnectedness and uncertainty about the future,” the W.H.O. stated.

The W.H.O. not only was instrumental in spreading Communist Chinese propaganda about the ability of the coronavirus to spread from human to human but was also a keen supporter of lockdown policies in response to the virus, which were inspired by Beijing’s draconian reaction to the Wuhan virus.

The Marxist chief of the W.H.O., Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who came to power — despite never working as a medical doctor — with the backing of Beijing, was an early and outspoken advocate of lockdowns and warned against lifting restrictions too soon, despite warnings from critics of the mental health implications.

The report found that child sexual abuse and bullying were chief contributors to the rise in depression, with younger age groups being particularly impacted by lockdown policies.

“Globally there was also a greater change in prevalence among younger age groups than older ones, potentially reflecting the deep impact of school closures and social restrictions on youth mental health,” the W.H.O. report said.

“For some children and adolescents, being made to stay at home is likely to have increased the risk of family stress or abuse, which are known risk factors for mental health problems,” it added.

The mental health issues facing children during lockdowns have been longstanding. A report from leading British UK universities in July of last year found that nearly five times as many children died of suicide compared to the virus during the first year of lockdowns.

“The risk of removal of [children and young people] from their normal activities across education and social events may prove a greater risk than that of SARS-CoV-2 itself,” the study claimed.

Other mental health specialists have warned that children have increasingly begun experiencing “locked-in trauma”, in which they find it hard to make friends, interact with others, and even experience anxiety over playing with other children.

Surprise Visit: Boris Johnson Meets Zelensky in Ukraine… Again

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Friday on a surprise visit to Kyiv that “all the evidence” points to Russian forces “taking heavy casualties” in their ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

Johnson also promised continued military aid and training on new military equipment. He did not detail the equipment.

“We are with you to give you the strategic endurance that you will need,” he said.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP´s earlier story follows below.

The European Union´s executive arm recommended putting Ukraine on a path to membership Friday, a symbolic boost for a country fending off a Russian onslaught that is killing civilians, flattening cities and threatening its very survival.

In another show of Western solidarity, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, his second trip to the country since the war began.

The possibility of membership in a union created to safeguard peace on the continent and serve as a model for the rule of law and prosperity fulfils a wish of Zelenskyy and his Western-looking citizens.

Johnson came with a pledge by Britain to lead a program that the U.K. said could train up to 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers every 120 days in an unspecified location outside the country.

The government said “international partners would be invited to host” the program, which Johnson said could “change the equation of this war.” Ukraine has been taking heavy casualties in the battle for the country´s eastern industrial heartland.

European Commission Greenlights Ukraine on Path to Membership But Highlights Concerns

The European Union’s executive arm on Friday recommended making Ukraine a candidate for EU membership, a morale booster and a first step on what is expected to be a long road for the war-torn country to join the 27-nation bloc.

If Ukrainians were under any illusion that the European Commission’s positive assessment would mean fast-track EU membership, their hopes of quickly joining the club were dashed.

“Starting accession negotiations is further down the line,” said Olivér Várhelyi, the EU Commissioner for the bloc’s enlargement. “Once conditions are met, then we will have to come back and reflect on it … This is not for today.”

The European Commission delivered its proposal to award Ukraine candidate status after an analysis of answers to a detailed questionnaire. The Ukrainian government applied for EU membership days after Russia invaded the country on Feb. 24.

“Ukrainians are ready to die for the European perspective,” commission President Ursula von der Leyen said – wearing clothes in the yellow and blue of the Ukrainian flag. “We want them to live, with us, the European dream.”

Report: US Secretly Reviews and Approves Many Israeli Airstrikes in Syria

The latest Israeli airstrikes on Syria disabled the Damascus International Airport

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Israel has been secretly coordinating with the US on many of its airstrikes in Syria, and senior officials at US Central Command have reviewed and approved many plans in recent years.

Israel frequently bombs Syria and frames the operations as strikes against Iran or Hezbollah, although the air raids often kill Syrian government troops and members of Iraq’s Shia militias. The latest Israeli airstrikes on Syria disabled the Damascus International Airport, marking a significant escalation in the air campaign.

Current and former officials told the Journal that the main focus of the coordination is on airstrikes that pass near al-Tanf garrison, a US military base in southern Syria near the border with Jordan. The officials said that the “vast majority” of the strikes passing through that area had been approved by the US.

The Israelis started flying airstrikes near al-Tanf in 2017 to avoid Syrian air defenses. The officials said that Israel notifies CENTCOM of its plans ahead of time. The command conducts a review of the operation and also notifies the secretary of defense and joint chiefs chairman. Israel has also notified Russian forces at the Khmeimim Air Base in western Syria of planned strikes.

The report said that the US doesn’t review all Israeli operations inside Syria, and doesn’t help Israel pick its targets. A significant number of Israeli airstrikes in the country don’t pass al-Tanf, including the strike on Damascus Airport.

The US has about 1,000 troops stationed in eastern Syria. On paper, the presence is about supporting the Kurdish-led SDF against ISIS, but the occupation is also about putting pressure on Damascus. The US maintains crippling economic sanctions on Syria, preventing the country from rebuilding after over 10 years of war.

The Journal report is the first time that the close US-Israeli coordination on airstrikes in Syria has been reported. But the US has always tacitly endorsed the operations as it never condemns them.

In 2019, Brett McGurk, the top Middle East official on President Biden’s National Security Council, penned an op-ed where he outlined his ideal Syria policy after resigning from the Trump administration over unfulfilled plans to withdraw from the country. In the article, McGurk said the US should support Israeli airstrikes in Syria.

US defence group in talks to buy Israel's blacklisted Pegasus spyware

The US defence contractor L3Harris Technologies is in talks with Israel's notorious NSO Group surveillance technology to purchase the firm's spyware tools despite it being placed on a US blacklist.

The Biden administration is warning that this potential acquisition is deeply concerning and would raise serious counterintelligence and security concerns for the US government, according to the Washington Post.

Last November, the US Department of Commerce added Israel's NSO and Candiru cyber intelligence companies to the blacklist of companies that it describes as engaging in activities that undermine US national security and the foreign interests of America.

Florida-based L3Harris is traded on the NYSE with a market cap of $43.7 billion. The company has $400 million cash in its coffers so if the deal were to go ahead it would be required to seek financing. The company's share price fell 2.7 per cent after news of the negotiations were published, reported Globes.

US Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, who chairs the finance committee and is a critic of government-sanctioned spying, said in a statement to the Guardian: "If the US plans on using foreign-made surveillance technology, it might as well bcc the country that produces it on every intercept. It's a serious national security risk, similar to the concerns associated with using foreign communications technology. The White House is right to raise concerns about this deal."

According to the Financial Times, an Israeli official, who declined to address the progress of any talks because they were "a private commercial matter", said the Ministry of Defence, "will have a clear interest in ensuring that this crucial technology remains in safe hands that the state of Israel can trust".

"Such a transaction, if it were to take place, raises serious counter-intelligence and security concerns," the official added.

Israel has been under global pressure to stop the export of spyware since last July, after a group of international rights and media organisations revealed that the Pegasus programme produced by NSO was used to hack the phones of journalists, prime ministers, officials and human rights activists in many countries.

NSO has also faced lawsuits and criticism from major technology companies who accuse it of putting their customers at risk of hacking; Apple was among the most prominent companies launched a lawsuit.

Judicial Watch: Delaware Court Orders State to Provide More Detail on Deal to Keep Secret Senate Biden Documents

Judicial Watch announced today that the Delaware Superior Court ordered the University of Delaware to provide under oath additional information justifying its decision to keep secret its deal to house and restrict access to the U.S. Senate records of President Joe Biden.

Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation filed a July 2020 Delaware Freedom of Information Act lawsuit after the University of Delaware denied their requests on April 30, 2020, for all of Biden’s Senate records and for records about the preservation and any proposed release of the records, including communications with Biden or his representatives (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. University of Delaware, No. N20A-07-001 MMJ (Del. Super.)). (Biden’s papers include more than 1,850 boxes of archival records from his Senate career.)

Judicial Watch appealed an adverse lower court ruling and the Delaware Supreme Court returned to the case to the lower court.

The University of Delaware then filed an affidavit, citing no documents or other specifics, stating that no state funds were used on the university’s “matters or undertakings” regarding Biden and that the Biden Senate papers were never discussed at any meetings of the university full Board of Trustees.

Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation challenged the sufficiency of the affidavit and Superior Court Judge Mary M. Johnson ordered the University to provide more information:

[T]he remand mandates that the inquiry does not end with the University’s filing of an Affidavit swearing to information previously provided. The Supreme Court directed reconsideration of whether the University satisfied its burden of proof.

***

The Court finds that the generalized statements in the Affidavit do not meet “the burden to create a record from which the Superior Court can determine whether the University performed an adequate search for responsive documents.” The University of Delaware must articulate who (identified at least by position within the University) provided the information: that no State funds were spent by the University; that no salaries of any University personnel involved in the custody and curation of the papers were paid with State funds; that no State funds were spent on the University’s email system for communications between University personnel and Biden representatives; when such inquiries were made; and what, if any, documents (other than the gift agreement) were reviewed.

“It’s absurd we’re having to sue the University of Delaware just to learn how they’re using taxpayer dollars,” said Daily Caller News Foundation Managing Editor Michael Bastasch. “Rest assured, with Judicial Watch’s help, we are optimistic we will uncover the truth about why they are seemingly keeping President Biden’s records a secret.”

“Joe Biden is being protected by the University of Delaware, and the courts are growing impatient with the shell games,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Of course, President Biden could end the dispute by simply releasing the details about his Senate records. What is Biden hiding?”

Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation are being represented by Delaware lawyers Ted Kittila and Bill Green of Halloran Farkas + Kittila LLP.

Two judges step down from New York COVID vaccine mandates lawsuit over owning Pfizer stock

A judge assigned to hear two consolidated lawsuits challenging COVID-19 vaccine mandates in New York City Wednesday said she would not step down from the case as requested by the plaintiffs. Two other judges did recuse themselves this week after financial disclosures revealed they had investments in Pfizer and other vaccine makers.

A judge assigned to hear two consolidated lawsuits challenging COVID-19 vaccine mandates in New York City Wednesday said she would not step down from the case as requested by the plaintiffs.

Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald denied the plaintiffs’ motion to disqualify her from the case. Plaintiffs filed the motion Tuesday after financial disclosures revealed the judge owned $250,000 in Pfizer stock and $100,000 in Johnson & Johnson.

In her denial, Judge Buchwald said the plaintiffs’ motion was based on “outdated information.”

Although plaintiffs do not have access to current financial disclosures, Sujata Gibson, attorney for the plaintiffs, told The Defender she is “hopeful” Judge Buchwald’s ruling means that any financial interest in the case “has been resolved and that any future potential conflicts by any presiding judges on the case are promptly disclosed going forward.”

Federal law prohibits federal judges from taking part in a case in which they have any financial interest, “no matter how small,” Gibson said.

Judge Buchwald’s decision came after two other judges assigned to the case, who also were asked by plaintiffs to disqualify themselves because of financial conflicts of interest, earlier this week recused themselves.

Judge Valerie E. Caproni, whose most recent financial disclosures revealed ownership of between $50,000 and $100,000 of Pfizer stock, was the first to recuse herself after plaintiffs on June 9 filed a joint motion seeking to disqualify her.

After the court appointed Judge Edgardo Ramos to replace Judge Caproni, the plaintiffs on June 13 filed a joint motion to disqualify him, also citing financial investments in COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers.

Judge Ramos recused himself Tuesday and was replaced by Judge Buchwald.

Ten Political Scandals That Rocked the US in the Half Century Since Watergate

Koreagate and Billygate

Democrat President Jimmy Carter ran into trouble right after taking over from Republican Nixon's vice-president Gerald Ford. Korean businessman and Washington lobbyist Tongsun Park was charged in 1976 with bribing US Congressmen between $100,000 and $200,000 each for political favours — allegedly including reversing Nixon's decision to withdraw US forces from the country.

Park was working for Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) director Kim Hyong-uk who was acting on orders from Chung Il-kwon, prime minister to South Korean dictator Park Chung-hee. The lobbyist avoided prosecution by turning state's witness. Democrat California representative Richard T. Hanna pled guilty and served a year in prison, but fellow-accused Otto Passman, a Louisiana congressman, was acquitted.

The Iran-Contra Affair

Faced with a series of Congress votes to limit US funding for the notorious Nicaraguan Contras fighting the democratically-elected Sandinista government of Daniel Ortega, Ronald Reagan's administration sought covert means to arm the guerrillas regardless of how many atrocities they were accused of.

Then-National Security Council member Colonel Oliver North was given the task of smuggling TOW anti-tank and HAWK surface-to-air missiles to the US' declared enemy Iran, then under an arms embargo. The money raised was used to buy arms for the Contras.

The scandal was exposed in 1986, and North was eventually convicted in 1989 of taking an "illegal gratuity" and obstruction charges. His three-year sentence was suspended. Others indicted over the affair included Reagan's defence secretary Caspar Weinberger. Among those convicted was Elliot Abrams, later appointed US envoy to Venezuela by Donald Trump.

But the accused were pardoned in 1993 by outgoing president George H W Bush, who was VP to Reagan at the time of the arms deals.

Two inquiries declared that Reagan had not known about the arms sales to Iran, despite Weinberger's written notes showing he knew of missile sales to "moderate elements" in Iran and potential deals to have hostages released. North was later elected president of the National Rifle Association from 2018 to 2019.

Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinksy

Bush senior's successor Bill Clinton couldn't keep it in his pants for long after occupying the White House. His two terms in office were overshadowed by the salacious story of his affair with intern Monica Lewinsky, who performed oral sex on him in the Oval Office.

Clinton managed to escape impeachment proceedings from the investigation by independent counsel Ken Starr, originally set up to probe the Whitewater real-estate scandal in which the president and his wife Hillary were implicated. Clinton ended his presidency by granting hundreds of pardons, including to his younger half-brother Roger for cocaine dealing and fraudster Marc Rich.

Memogate

George Bush junior is most notorious for ordering the 2003 invasion of Iraq on the basis of flimsy intelligence claims that president Saddam Hussein was hoarding chemical and biological weapons. But the US Congress made itself part of the crime by backing the war.

More embarrassing was the claim that Bush was a 'chickenhawk' who avoided being drafted to fight in the Vietnam war by serving in the Texas Air National Guard from 1968 to 1974. Records show Bush took time out from the territorial air force in 1972 to work for the failed Senate election campaign of Winton M. Blount in Alabama after losing his flight authorisation for failing to attend a physical examination.
