>Is Evil merely the absence of Good?

I think Augustine has a very illuminating take on evil.

It isn't the absence of good.

Rather, an evil choice occurs when free human minds fixate on one aspect of a greater good while actively excluding the rest.

The evil lies in somehow actively excluding the rest.

Maybe that isn't how he said it exactly.

Not everyone with a Nazi tatoo is evil incarnate.

Just like not everyone who embraces "communism" is evil incarnate.

People get deluded rather easily.

Some people in Ukraine see "Nazis" as better than "communists" since the "Nazis" actually helped free them from slavery and genocide.

Yes they neglect the fact that Nazis actually fostered a great deal of slavery and genocide but life is complex.
