Mine sides are both a-quiver and in orbit, good sir!

>It's liberating to know things.

It is, but I think a lot of people think it's a burden. Conflate knowledge with Adam/Eve-tier sin? Fear people will look up to them for guidance? "That's over my head, my brain hurts!" Why? I can't shut my fucking brain off most of the time.

>so many ignorant people consider themselves smart

That's true, worked with/under plenty, but then when you actually want them for something, they can't be bothered. Not afraid to look smart, just afraid of being proven wrong? Or they're just lazy. Lotta project managers that don't manage much of anything, seems. Dunno if that's proper or not. But then the lower-level people that generally know less or are thought to anyway, suffer most. Meh.

Throwing yourself into anything unprepared/unplanned is possibly allowing more mistakes than necessary though. If you can catch a lot before making them, all the better. But this takes extra effort and ain't foolproof, so I think people get turned off and decide to wing it. And experience is still the best teacher, as long as you're granted permission to get the experience in the first place. If all your leaders/managers suck, how do you learn anything right/wrong firsthand? Reminds of all the stupid ads for entry-level jobs that still ask for some years of actual work experience. Schrodinger's Job.
