The Department of Justice will not charge Michael Avenatti, former lawyer for pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, with 31 additional fraud counts after he pleaded guilty last week to five fraud-related charges.
Federal prosecutors for the Central District of California said Tuesday in a filing obtained by CNN they will not pursue the remaining 31 charges of bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax-related crimes.
The disgraced anti-Trump attorney was sentenced in June to four years in prison for defrauding Daniels.
Avenatti was already serving two and a half years in prison for extorting Nike.
He faces an additional 83 years behind bars for the fraud charges to which he pleaded guilty on Thursday. He will be sentenced in mid-September.
"Such a sentence would obviate the need for a trial on the remaining counts. Accordingly, the government expects to move to dismiss the remaining counts of the Indictment after sentence is imposed," the prosecutors wrote in Tuesday's filing dismissing the additional charges.

According to a report by the Arizona Daily Independent, recent public records request to the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) resulted in the disclosure of a blank patient intake form for a local hormone and gender transition facility in the Phoenix area.
The purpose of the form is not yet known. Officials for the school district have failed to reply to requests for comment or explanation.

This week Congressman Troy Nehls will introduce the “Stop Child Abuse Act,” seeking to rescind the Executive order signed by President Biden on June 15, which prohibits individual state governments from banning the use of gender transition therapies in minor children and removes the states’ right to govern independently.
Biden signed the Executive Order on Advancing Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Individuals as part of his administration’s plan to further the cause of the LGBTQI+ community in America.
According to the executive order, the administration seeks to “protect LGBTQI+ individuals’ access to medically necessary care,” including gender transition therapies such as hormones and surgical intervention for individuals suffering from gender dysphoria.
The administration, including the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), now classifies hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgeries as a proper treatment for the mental health concerns of LGBTQI+ youth.
The order further states that “200 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of HHS shall develop and release sample policies for States to safeguard and expand access to health care for LGBTQI+ individuals and their families, including mental health services.”

They would need it. Their destination — a besieged steel mill in the brutalized city of Mariupol — was a death trap. Some other crews didn’t make it back alive.
Still, the mission was vital, even desperate. Ukrainian troops were pinned down, their supplies running low, their dead and injured stacking up. Their last-ditch stand at the Azovstal mill was a growing symbol of Ukraine’s defiance in the war against Russia. They could not be allowed to perish.
The 51-year-old pilot — identified only by his first name, Oleksandr — flew just the one mission to Mariupol, and he considered it the most difficult flight of his 30-year-career. He took the risk, he said, because he didn’t want the Azovstal fighters to feel forgotten.
In the charred hell-scape of that plant, in an underground bunker-turned-medical station that provided shelter from death and destruction above, word started reaching the wounded that a miracle might be coming. Among those told that he was on the list for evacuation was a junior sergeant who’d been shredded by mortar rounds, butchering his left leg and forcing its amputation above the knee.
“Buffalo” was his nom de guerre. He had been through so much, but one more deadly challenge loomed: escape from Azovstal.
