I prefer to buy precious metals at the Local Coin shop with cash. NOT a pawnshop. There will be a small markup but if paying in cash nothing is traceable. The one i go to has US Gold coins (1 oz, 1/5 oz and 1/10 oz) that are legal tender but pure gold. Easier to part with later than a gold bar. They also have Legal tender gold goins from china (pandas) and a few others.

Been going to pick up 2-3 American Silver eagles (legal tender, 1 oz pure silver) each month for awhile now and about to start picking up some gold as well.

APMEX is legit - that is where my local coin shop get some of their supply - as is sunshine mint….but my paranoid autism does not want the credickcard / paypal electronic trail.
