i don't know how the board software is written or how the board salt works.

but a stupid thing you can do on any 'normal' *nix server is rotate your salt to a previously used salt, making old hash values match.

it strikes me that it's far more likely that the salt was manually rotated to the old value (even if temporarily) than it is that someone just happened to land the trip on a new random salt.

in any case, seethe more traitors.
