Czechia has exhausted its arms reserves supporting Ukraine, Czech PM reveals

Petr Fiala assured Ukraine that Czechia intends to continue supporting the country militarily, but will first need to replenish its resources

Czechia has exhausted its stockpile of arms in helping Ukraine to defend itself following the invasion of Russian forces, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala revealed on Thursday.

Following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who thanked the Czech government for both its military and humanitarian support for Ukraine, Fiala said Czechia’s resources will need to be topped up before it can provide any more help on the front line.

“Our stockpiles of Soviet-era weapon systems are dwindling and will need to be replenished,” Fiala told reporters.

The Czech leader insisted the ongoing crisis unfolding in Ukraine will be a top priority during the upcoming Czech presidency of the EU, with Czechia intending to continue to support the Ukrainian army with weapons, as well as technical support and training.

In this context, he mentioned that Germany recently promised to donate Leopard 2A4 tanks to the Czech Republic as compensation for Czechia handing over its heavy weapons to Ukraine.

Fiala also said his government is determined to meet its NATO commitment and increase its defense spending to at least 2 percent of GDP by 2024.

After a brief meeting, Stoltenberg said that he also spoke with Fiala about the forthcoming NATO summit in Madrid, which will discuss whether the defense organization will soon expand by two new members, Finland and Sweden. Fiala said that the Czech Republic would support the membership of the Nordic countries.

Prince Charles Denies Wrongdoing After Report of Accepting Suitcases of Cash from a Qatari Sheik

Prince Charles’ office has denied there was any wrongdoing in the heir to the British throne accepting bags full of cash as charity donations from a Qatari politician.

The Sunday Times said the prince was given a total of 3 million euros ($3.2 million) by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the former prime minister of Qatar. It said the money was handed over to Charles at private meetings between 2011 and 2015 – on one occasion in a suitcase, and on another in shopping bags from London’s Fortnum & Mason department store.

The newspaper said the money was deposited into the accounts of the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund. It did not allege that anything illegal was done.

Charles’ office, Clarence House, said in a statement that the donations “were passed immediately to one of the prince’s charities who carried out the appropriate governance and have assured us that all the correct processes were followed.”

The prince’s charitable fund told the newspaper it had verified “that the donor was a legitimate and verified counterparty … and our auditors signed off on the donation after a specific enquiry during the audit. There was no failure of governance.”

Qatar’s government communications office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

As Qatar’s prime minister between 2007 and 2013, Hamad oversaw the oil-rich state’s sovereign wealth fund, which has major property investments around the world, including London’s Shard skyscraper, Heathrow Airport and Harrods department store.

London police are currently investigating a separate allegation that people associated with another of the prince’s charities, the Prince’s Foundation, offered to help a Saudi billionaire secure honors and citizenship in return for donations. Clarence House has said Charles had no knowledge of any such offer.

Turkish FM Urges 'Greater Turkey' As EU Sides With Greece In Territorial Dispute

On Friday Turkey lashed out at a series of positions the EU summit in Brussels took regarding territorial disputes with Greece in the Aegean and Mediterranean - specifically on drilling rights and Ankara's charge that Greece is "militarizing" its islands in violation of historic treaties, an accusation which the EU has not backed. This also as Turkey has been seething over Ukraine and Moldova so quickly being granted EU candidate status.

The EU has consistently sided with defending Greece and Cyprus' pushback against expansive Turkish claims, which the Turkish foreign ministry slammed as decisions which are "prejudiced, lack vision, and are disconnected from reality."

Turkish publication Daily Sabah explains, "Citing several Greek policy positions and actions, including its claim to 10 nautical miles (11.5 miles) of national airspace, the militarization of Aegean islands near the Turkish coast, and pushbacks of asylum seekers, it underlined that the EU's silence on these issues contributes nothing toward their resolution and harms regional stability."

This after early this month German Chancellor Olaf Scholz put the ball in Turkey's court, urging that it not "provoke" Greece, which is a similar criticism from France's Macron as well, who has even more actively backed Greece and Cyprus in these disputes.

Meanwhile Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis more or less claimed 'victory' following Friday's EU meeting:

"I repeat that we are fully covered by the conclusions that were unanimously adopted and which express concern about Turkey’s provocations," said Mitsotakis regarding Greek-Turkish affairs, stating that they "call on [Turkey] to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all member-states and to de-escalate the tension which it is cultivating in the Eastern Mediterranean, so as to promote peace and stability in the wider region."

But perhaps as predicted, Turkey has not de-escalated its rhetoric, but completely the opposite, with its foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu going so far as to call for a 'greater Turkey' in a recent televised speech:

Epstein ‘madam’ put on suicide watch

Ghislaine Maxwell has been placed in solitary confinement and may seek to delay her sentencing

Convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell has been placed on suicide watch in the Brooklyn jail where she awaits sentencing on charges related to her activities with now-deceased pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Her lawyers complained in a letter on Friday that she had been removed from the general population “without justification” and warned her sentencing may have to be postponed.

“Yesterday, without having conducted a psychological evaluation and without justification, the [Manhattan Detention Center] placed Ms. Maxwell on suicide watch,” the disgraced socialite’s lawyer, Bobbi Sternheim, said in the letter addressed to Judge Alison Nathan, adding that “she is not suicidal.” A psychologist had evaluated Maxwell on Saturday and come to the same conclusions, Sternheim claimed.

“If Ms. Maxwell remains on suicide watch, is prohibited from reviewing legal materials prior to sentencing, becomes sleep-deprived, and is denied sufficient time to meet with and confer with counsel, we will be formally moving on Monday for an adjournment,” the lawyer threatened, pointing out that she is “not permitted to possess and review legal documents and is not permitted paper or pen” while on watch.

According to her lawyers, Maxwell was carried off to solitary confinement with nothing but the “suicide smock” prisoners intending to harm themselves are provided and a “few sheets of toilet paper” – no “clothing, toothpaste, soap, legal papers, etc.”

Maxwell is due for her first sentencing hearing on Tuesday regarding her conviction on charges related to helping her former lover Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse young girls. Prosecutors are aiming for a sentence of 30 to 55 years, which could amount to life for the 60-year-old, who has been described in the media as the wealthy pedophile’s ‘madam’. She was found guilty on five of the six charges against her, all of which concerned the procurement, grooming, and trafficking of young girls for sex during the period she was involved with Epstein.

The infamous procurer may have her own unusual reasons for wanting off suicide watch, given how Epstein died under suspicious circumstances in another New York City detention facility while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges in August 2019. He had recently been under suicide watch after being found unconscious in his cell with marks on his neck, though prison authorities reportedly took him off the watch 12 days before he allegedly hanged himself.

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush Used Campaign Funds to Pay His Wife and Son

Using campaign funds to pay family members is not illegal under FEC regulations, though the practice is "frowned upon"

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) has paid roughly $56,000 from his principal campaign committee to his wife and son since 2019, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) documents reviewed by The Daily Caller. Rush — a former Black Panther leader who has served 15 terms in Congress — is retiring in January.

Rush paid his third wife, Paulette Holloway Rush, around $11,000 between June 2021 and March 2022, filings show. The longtime Congressman made one notable payment of $3,600 to Paulette, who is a church minister, on June 17, 2021.

Rush has also paid his son Jeffrey roughly $45,000 since 2019, filings show, for mostly “field services” and “field operations services.” This would typically include activities such as door knocking, phone banking and event work.

These tasks are performed by volunteers on most campaigns.

Rush’s son Jeffrey was sentenced in 2008 to six months in jail for having sex with female prison inmates while working as head of security at an Illinois correctional facility. In 2011, Jeffrey was arrested on a warrant for violating his probation in connection with his prior sexual conviction, Herald & Review reported.

The payments were made from the Citizens for Rush committee, which has a Chicago mailing address and has raised over $220,000 in the latest election cycle, the Daily Caller reported.

While it is not illegal to pay campaign funds to family members so long as the individual is being paid fair market value, the practice is “frowned upon” by ethics experts. Kendra Arnold, who serves as executive director of the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, told the Daily Caller that it is ““really difficult to determine” what fair market value is.

“When a candidate contracts with an independent person they’re not related to, obviously they’re going to negotiate for the best price and the fair market price,” said Arnold, whose nonprofit aims to promote accountability and transparency in government. “But when they negotiate with a family member, it’s a lot harder to determine whether or not they did that.”

A spokesperson for the FEC told the Daily Caller that members of Congress can use funds to pay relatives “only if the family member is providing a bona fide service to the campaign and the payments reflect the fair market value of those services.”

The spokesperson added that there is no definition for “fair market value,” however.

Russian Missiles Rock Kyiv as G-7 Leaders Gather in Europe

KYIV/POKROVSK, Ukraine—Russian missiles hit an apartment block and kindergarten in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Sunday as world leaders gathered in Europe to discuss further sanctions against Moscow.

Up to four explosions shook central Kyiv in the early hours, in the first such attack on the city in weeks.

“The Russians hit Kyiv again. Missiles damaged an apartment building and a kindergarten,” said Andriy Yermak, head of the president’s administration.

A Reuters photographer saw a large blast crater by a playground in a kindergarten that had smashed windows.

Deputy Mayor Mykola Povoroznyk said one person was killed and six wounded. He said explosions heard later in other parts if Kyiv were air defenses destroying further incoming missiles.

Russia has stepped up air strikes on Ukraine this weekend, which has also seen the fall of a strategic eastern city to pro-Russian forces.

“It’s more of their barbarism,” said Biden, referring to the missile strikes on Kyiv, as leaders from the Group of Seven (G-7) rich democracies gathered for a summit in Germany.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said G-7 countries should respond to the latest missile strikes by imposing further sanctions on Russia and providing more heavy weapons to Ukraine.

As Europe’s biggest land conflict since World War Two entered its fifth month, the Western alliance supporting Kyiv was starting to show signs of strain as leaders fret about the growing economic cost.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the West needed to maintain a united front against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The price of backing down, the price of allowing Putin to succeed, to hack off huge parts of Ukraine, to continue with his program of conquest, that price will be far, far higher,” he told reporters.

Patagonia To Bail Out Employees Arrested At Pro-Abortion Protests

The outdoor apparel company Patagonia will cover bail expenses for employees arrested amid protests following the Friday Supreme Court ruling Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, according to Bloomberg.

The company, which maintains a longstanding tradition of activism, previously offered to cover bail expenses for employees arrested at protests for different causes, Bloomberg reported.

Patagonia released a statement Friday, saying that “training and bail for those who peacefully protest for reproductive justice” will extend to both part-time and full-time employees.

Healthcare for Patagonia employees includes “a more holistic approach” that involves “supporting employees’ choices around if or when they have a child,” the company said. Healthcare plans offered include coverage for abortion care along with “travel, lodging and food” expenses for employees facing abortion restrictions.

The company also said that employees receive “time off to vote” along with the “resources to make informed decisions at the ballot box.”

Patagonia is by no means isolated, concert promoter Live Nation Entertainment Inc. also pledged to bail out employees arrested for protesting the ruling and even partnered with artists to donate to Planned Parenthood, Bloomberg reported.

Many other companies from JPMorgan Chase to Amazon and Microsoft joined Patagonia in pledging to cover travel expenses for employees seeking abortion care, according to Bloomberg.

Patagonia previously advocated against hydropower and endorsed Democratic senatorial candidates in western states. The company also ceased supplying products to a Wyoming resort whose owner hosted a fundraiser for the House Freedom Caucus.

They were shooting directly at the journalists: New evidence suggests Shireen Abu Akleh was killed in targeted attack by Israeli forces”. Thus read a CNN headline on May 26, 2022, for an article describing what may have been a “targeted killing,” – that is, assassination – of Al Jazeera journalist Shirleen Abu Akleh, a 51-year-old highly esteemed Palestinian-American journalist who had covered Israeli repression of the Palestinian population for about 25 years before she was killed.

With this killing and its aftermath, one knows that it is all hands on deck for an Israeli government cognitive campaign in the perpetual cognitive war Israel wages against the world, as will be explained below.

According to the CNN article, Abu Akleh was killed by a bullet to the head at around 6:30 a.m. on May 11, while standing with a group of journalists near the entrance of Jenin refugee camp as they covered an Israeli raid. “We stood in front of the Israeli military vehicles for about five to ten minutes before we made moves to ensure they saw us. And this is a habit of ours as journalists; we move as a group and we stand in front of them so they know we are journalists, and then we start moving,” a Palestinian reporter, Shatha Hanaysha, told CNN, describing their cautious approach toward the Israeli army convoy before the gunfire began.

Video recordings of the surrounding area showed the killing shots could have come only from the Israeli soldiers in specially designed “sniper” vehicles that were in direct line-of-fire positions to Abu Akleh that morning. Eyewitnesses told CNN that they “believed Israeli forces on the same street fired deliberately on the reporters in a targeted attack. All of the journalists were wearing protective blue vests that identified them as members of the news media.”

“Lawful targets” in a “Cognitive War”

The “blue vests” might have been what ensured the journalists would be targeted by Israeli forces, if Israeli forces see journalists as “lawful targets” in the war they continue to wage against the Palestinians, in what is in fact a continuation of the 1967 War. That is, an unrelenting military occupation in violation of international law, which constitutes a continuation of the “war.” And the evidence shows Israeli military/intel forces do see journalists as “lawful targets,” as part of the “Cognitive War” they wage against the Palestinians, but more particularly against the global population in an attempt to legitimize their military oppression of the Palestinians in their ongoing effort of “population expulsion” of the Palestinians from Palestinian territory. As Benjamin Netanyahu’s father, Benzion, proclaimed shortly before he died, this is the objective of Israel Zionists like him.

In fact, while Abu Akleh was the only journalist killed that day by Israeli forces, she wasn’t the only Palestinian journalist shot. A group of four Palestinian reporters was fired upon as well, with one also injured in the gunfire. That was not because Israeli forces had an obstructed view; footage showed a direct line of sight between the reporters and the Israeli convoy. That only one of the four was hit, besides Abu Akleh, is probably taken by military superiors as a sign that their marksmanship must be improved.

Defense in ‘Fat Leonard’ case says prosecutors knew agent made inaccurate statement in prior case

As the jury in the “Fat Leonard” trial deliberates the fate of five former officers charged with bribery, defense lawyers made new allegations that federal prosecutors were improperly withholding evidence that could help their case.

In a motion filed Friday, lawyers for the five said that they uncovered information that a federal agent who was key in the sprawling investigation of military contractor Leonard Glenn Francis, known as “Fat Leonard” for his immense size, made inaccurate statements in a sworn arrest warrant affidavit in a strikingly similar case a year ago.

At a brief court hearing Tuesday, lead prosecutor Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Pletcher did not address the accusations and told U.S. District Court Judge Janis Sammartino the government would write a response to the motion.

It is the latest allegation from defense lawyers about prosecutorial misconduct in the trial that began in February.

The defendants — former Rear Adm. Bruce Loveless; former Capts. David Newland, James Dolan and David Lausman; and former Cmdr. Mario Herrera — are charged with conspiracy, bribery and fraud. They are accused of accepting bribes from Francis and in return helping his Singapore-based ship servicing business, Glenn Defense Marine Asia, or GMDA. Francis pleaded guilty and admitted defrauding the government out of at least $35 million.

The statements by Defense Criminal Investigative Services Special Agent Cordell DeLaPena came in the unrelated prosecution of Frank Rafaraci, the chief executive of Multinational Logistics Service, or MLS, which like Francis’ company, contracts with the U.S. Navy to service ships in foreign ports.

Rafaraci was initially charged in September 2021 with bribery of a Navy official and defrauding the government out of at least $50 million through inflated invoices between 2011 and 2018.

In an affidavit for his arrest, DeLaPena made a series of incorrect statements regarding the fraudulent billing, according to court records in Rafaraci’s case.

When defense lawyers for Rafaraci complained the statements were incorrect, lawyers for the Department of Justice agreed in a motion jointly filed with the defense in March that the statements were “factually inaccurate.”

The DOJ took the unusual step of then asking a federal judge to not only strike the complaint, but also remove entirely from the official docket the inaccurate affidavit. But the judge in the case declined to remove the affidavit and instead ordered the inaccurate paragraphs to be redacted.

Rafaraci, whose case was promoted by the DOJ as a major case of fraud that echoed the GDMA case, ended up being indicted on a single count of bribery. The fraud allegations were not part of the indictment. He pleaded guilty to the bribery charge in April and is awaiting sentencing.

A Chernomorneftegaz drilling platform in the Black Sea has come under shelling by Ukrainian troops again, a spokesman for Crimea’s emergencies services said on Sunday.

"Yes, it was a shelling attack by Ukrainian troops. No one was hurt," the spokesman told TASS.

The shelling attack was reported by the Baza Telegram channel.

Chernomorneftegaz drilling platforms came under shelling by Ukrainian troops on Monday, June 20. There were 109 people on them. Three were hurt, seven went missing. The search operation continues.

A Very Dangerous Time Inside Ukraine as U.S. Officials Admit CIA and Pentagon Conducting Proxy War Effort from Kyiv

We must always keep focus on the context for information that comes from the U.S. State Dept and the Central Intelligence Agency to the media. Yesterday, as Joe Biden was en route to the G7 summit in the Bavarian Alps, the New York Times published an article saying the CIA and Pentagon special forces are organizing and conducting the NATO war effort from a secret operation center in Kyiv.

Some viewed the article as the NYT violating operational security for the U.S. led effort. However, that perspective belies the nature of how the media is used in war by Dept of State and intelligence officials. The details of the Times article are attributed to “three U.S. officials,” and should be looked upon as purposeful.

In addition to the timing of Biden headed to the G7, the admission of CIA officials conducting the war effort from inside Ukraine, comes as NATO partner country Lithuania informs Russia that prior transit treaties to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad will not be honored. NATO is poking and provoking a response from Russia, the Times article is part of this effort.

At the same time, a few dozen commandos from other NATO countries, including Britain, France, Canada and Lithuania, also have been working inside Ukraine. The United States withdrew its own 150 military instructors before the war began in February, but commandos from these allies either remained or have gone in and out of the country since then, training and advising Ukrainian troops and providing an on-the-ground conduit for weapons and other aid, three U.S. officials said.

Few other details have emerged about what the C.I.A. personnel or the commandos are doing, but their presence in the country — on top of the diplomatic staff members who returned after Russia gave up its siege of Kyiv — hints at the scale of the secretive effort to assist Ukraine that is underway and the risks that Washington and its allies are taking.

About 900,000 abortions a year in the US

Primary nationwide abortion statistics for the United States are available from two sources—privately from the Guttmacher Institute (AGI) and publicly from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Guttmacher’s numbers, published every three years, come from direct surveys of all known and suspected abortion providers in the United States. 29-Year-Old Man Posing as Woman Takes First Place Against 13-Year-Old Girl in Women’s Skateboarding Event

A 29-year-old man pretending to be a woman took first place against a 13-year-old girl at the Boardr Open in New York City this weekend.

Female skateboarder Taylor Silverman blasted “Ricci Tres” – the adult male who crushed a 13-year-old child in Saturday’s contest and took home the $500 prize.

“Male wins women’s skateboarding finals and money at the Boardr Open NYC presented by DC today.” Silverman tweeted.

Ricci Tres, also known as Ricci And Tres, took top spot in the women’s division of The Boardr Open today held in New York City, taking home a $500 prize for a first place win.

Tres, a 29-year-old trans-identified male, came in first place against 13-year-old Shiloh Catori. Of the 6 competitors, 4 were under the age of 17, with the youngest being 10-year-old Juri Iikura.

In 2021, Tres became the first trans-identified male to attempt to quality for Olympic Women’s skateboarding, submitting a virtual run for the USA National Skateboarding Championships. Tres was unable to meet the short deadline to submit a hormone levels test, but was later told his testosterone was “much higher” than the required levels to compete in the female category.

Around this time, Tres was interviewed by Robert Brink of USA Skateboarding and revealed he was over 190 units off of the required testosterone reduction needed to be able to qualify in the female category by International Olympic Committee Standards. During the interview, Tres expressed ambivalence towards reducing his testosterone levels, and even stated he was comfortable “where [he] was at” in his transition.

Taylor Silverman recently spoke out against biological males taking over skateboarding competitions.

“I am done being silent,” Silverman said on Instagram.

Socialist Reddit group posts home addresses of Supreme Court justices, discusses hunting them down at their churches. TikTok user hint at using pipe bombs in retaliation to Roe v. Wade reversal.

One of the top posts in a socialist subreddit featured the addresses of Supreme Court justices that voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. The Reddit users in the anti-capitalist group discussed hunting down Supreme Court justices at their churches and possibly sending them mail bombs.

The alarming threats were made in r/WorkersStrikeBack – a self-described "leftist, anti-capitalist, socialist subreddit that is dedicated to support worker strikes, protests and unions all over the world, address the obvious problems related to an average worker's workplace, offer advice to a fellow worker struggling with their workplace problems and mock or satirize any kind of anti-worker sentiment."

The post broadcasted the home addresses of Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, and Neil Gorsuch.

At the time of publication, the post doxxing the Supreme Court justices had been allowed up in the subreddit for more than 22 hours. What is most concerning is the post received nearly 27,000 upvotes in the online socialist community of 97,000 users.

There were over 2,000 comments to the doxxing post – some suggested violence in retaliation for overturning Roe v. Wade.

A Reddit user urged people to hunt Supreme Court justices at their churches.

"Find their churches. The area they live in is super wealthy and they all definitely are part of local bloated churches. Find their churches, they can never be free, because you can track when they're home by when they they go to their local church."

One Reddit user asks, "Where are the 2nd homes?"

A mail carrier appears to request that domestic terrorists don't use the mail service to deliver bombs to Supreme Court justices, but instead called for "more direct action."

"Socialist mailman here, please don't send anything that could hurt your mail handlers," the Redditor wrote. "Accidental tearing happens to mail all the time. I would encourage more direct action at a time like this."

A Redditor ranted, "Six of these fascist creeps. A mere SIX. 330 MILLION of us. Why are we putting up with this? This is a f***ing WAR now."

Another Redditor stated, "Politicians are way too comfortable in this country when they're willing to break precedent to go against 70% of the population to fit their own agenda. Maybe it's time they felt less comfortable and safe."

One person said, "Violence is never the answer. It's the question. And right now, the answer is yes."

Someone else in the subreddit suggests that they "need to target the police" because "it'll be them enforcing the abortion bans."

A user ominously adds, "I've been looking for a life purpose."

Utah Ritualized Sexual Abuse Investigation: Is There A History Of Ritual Abuse In Utah?

As the Utah primary draws near, the investigation into “ritualized child sexual abuse” has garnered more than 120 tips related to claims of ritualistic sex rings. Let’s examine the history of these allegations in Utah.

In the nearly 4 weeks since the Utah County Sheriff’s Office announced an investigation into allegations of “ritualized child sexual abuse” in three Utah counties, they have received more than 120 tips in the form of phone calls, texts, and emails. UCSO Public Information Officer Sgt. Spencer Cannon told the Salt Lake Tribune that the office has “pulled in” sergeants with experience in sex assault cases to help review the information.

The Last American Vagabond (TLAV) has been following the unusual situation since May 31st when the Utah County Sheriff’s Office announced they were working with multiple county and federal agencies investigating reports of ritualistic child sexual abuse from as far back as 1990. The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation began in April 2021. The investigation subsequently discovered previous reports alleging “similar forms of ritualistic sexual abuse and trafficking” that occurred in Utah County, Juab County, and Sanpete County during the time between 1990 and 2010.

Following the announcement of this investigation by Utah County Sheriff Mike Smith, Utah County Attorney David Leavitt held a press conference where he shared a 151-page document titled “victim statement” related to a 2012 case involving allegations of sexual abuse of children. Leavitt and several other people are named in the statement as being involved with a group practicing ritual child sex abuse. He claimed the Sheriff’s investigation was a political attack on him related to the June 28th primary elections in Utah.

As TLAV reported last week, courtroom records revealed that Utah County Attorney David Leavitt lied when he said the 2012 case was dismissed by his predecessor because it was “unbelievable”, lacking evidence, and the story of a “tragically mentally ill” woman.

The Salt Lake Tribune has also reported that USCO Sgt. Cannon said the report that Leavitt was referencing was not what started the sheriff’s investigation last year. “We had a victim come forward and disclose abuse of this nature,” Cannon told the SLT. “And so that’s what started our investigation. The case that David Leavitt spoke about is not the case we initially started investigating. It’s not the case that we became aware of in April of last year.”

Cannon did acknowledge that the detectives became aware of the 2012 case and the allegations against therapist David Lee Hamblin, but did not say if the case was part of the current investigation.

As Utahans prepare to vote in the primary on June 28th — a race in which both Sheriff Mike Smith and Utah County Attorney David Leavitt are both up for re-election — we wait to see if there will be any additional announcements, indictments, subpoenas or any official action taken.
