They need to get away from all-electronic systems. Entirely away from them.

 

At least in Los Angeles County, we have ink dot cards. That's something. But the ink dot cards don't have the candidate names on them. Somehow switch the key, and voila! The votes are changed. There are enough precincts that a certain number of switched keys could go unnoticed.

 

But the biggest danger here is the vote-by-mail system. Clerks can find ways to invalidate votes. Ballots can be siphoned off by the post office and voted how they want. I've heard of evidence in prior elections that this may have been done.
