UK raises concerns about Ukraine fatigue

Liz Truss urged the West not to show signs of ‘giving up’ on Ukraine

The West must prepare to back Ukraine against Russia in the long run and not give in to conflict “fatigue,” British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has stated. (Just wait until Russia goes after the UK, thats what they are asking for, Boris Johnson is no Winston Churchill!)

Speaking to European media on Tuesday, the foreign secretary stressed the importance of Western unity over military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. “What I am urging is [that] we continue to stick to that and we absolutely don‘t show any signs of fatigue or tiredness or giving up,” Truss said. (More dead Ukrainians, no worries)

“What we cannot have is some uneasy peace, where Russia is still present in Ukraine. That is not going to work.”

Truss said a victory for Kiev would be Russian troops leaving “all parts of Ukraine [that] have been illegally occupied.” The foreign secretary made it clear that Moscow would also have to give up Crimea, which voted to leave Ukraine and join Russia shortly after the 2014 coup in Kiev.

Asked if Britain was ready to accept that it may end up supportingUkraine for 10 years, she replied: “We have been very clear, we are in this for the long haul.” (Man the UK is being held in a vice for the dirt and money laundering of UK leaders by Ukraine Nazi. Sleep with a dog, wake up with fleas)

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also urged avoiding “Ukraine fatigue” and continuing to support Kiev against Russia. The PM repeated his message during the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Germany over the weekend. “Realistically there is going to be fatigue in populations and politicians,” he said, adding that the West must not waver in its support for Ukraine.

G7 nations reach deal on Russian oil price cap – Politico

(This is posturing and bluster, they don’t have the power to do this)

Leading Western economieswant to limitMoscow’s revenue from crude sales (wanting to is not effective, it doesnt “will limit”)

The Group of Seven (G7) leading Western economies reached an agreement on Tuesday to set a price cap on Russian oil exports, Politico reported, citing unnamed officials.

The details of the agreement have not been revealed. However, according to the story, the US suggested lifting sanctions on insurance for ships that transport Russian oil only if countries agreed to buy it at a settled maximum price, thus enforcing a price cap.

G7 member states also rejected the idea of a worldwide price cap on oil prices, proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday. The proposal was reportedly waived by the US and Germany, and France had agreed to withdraw it.

The agreement comes as Western countries are trying to deal with rising energy prices and inflation as a result of their sanctions and embargoes on Russian oil. While the restrictions are aimed at depleting the “Russian war chest” allegedly used to fund the ongoing military operation in Ukraine, Moscow has been earning more money from its energy exports than prior to the sanctions due to higher prices.

The idea of a price cap was first introduced by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen earlier this year, and then taken up by the G7, which has reportedly been holding “constructive” talks on the matter over the past three days, at its annual summit in Germany.

LPR claims it was hit with HIMARS for the 1st time

The Lugansk People’s Republic claims at least one missile was fired from a US-made multiple launch rocket system

US-supplied М142 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems have already been used by the Ukrainian military in Donbass, the authorities in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) reported on Tuesday.

On their Telegram channel, the LPR’s representatives in the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination on ceasefire and stabilization of the demarcation line (JCCC) posted a message that read, “shelling has been detected from the positions of Ukrainian armed groups: at 7:20AM … using the М142 HIMARS (1 missile).”

This is the first time the local authorities have reported that the US-supplied systems have been used in combat.

Taking to Facebook on Saturday, the chief of Ukraine’s General Staff, Valery Zaluzhny, wrote: “Multiple rocket launcher M142 HIMARS are already working in the interest of Ukraine’s defense.” He added that Ukrainian troops “skillfully hit certain targets – military targets of the enemy on our, Ukrainian, territory.”

Zaluzhny also posted a two-minute video clip, said to show how the pro-Kiev forces operate the long-range rocket system.

The arrival of several M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System units in Ukraine was also confirmed last Thursday by Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov. In a Twitter post, he expressed his gratitude to “colleague and friend @SecDef Lloyd J. Austin III for these powerful tools!”

Also on Thursday, acting Pentagon press secretary Todd Breasseale revealed that Washington would send Kiev four more HIMARS systems, in addition to the four already delivered.

On top of that, Britain is shipping three tracked M270 MLRS systems, while Germany has pledged to contribute another three.

Ukrainian officials, however, insist they need far more weapons to achieve parity with Russia’s forces.

Plans to deliver the four HIMARS units were announced by US President Joe Biden in early June. According to media reports, the White House had initially been concerned that Ukrainian forces could hit targets inside Russia with the help of these long-range systems, which could be construed as further escalation by Moscow. The US said it would provide GMLRS guided rockets with the systems, which have a range of 32-60km. The HIMARS platform can also fire a single guided missile with a range of up to 300km, but the US has not yet provided Ukraine with these projectiles.

Following the announcement, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, the “Ukrainians have given us assurances that they will not use these systems against targets on Russian territory.”

However, several senior Ukrainian officials have since said thatKiev reserves the right to use US-supplied weapons on targets in Crimea, which both Ukraine and Russia consider part of their own territory.

(This is not going to end well for Ukraine and US if they attack Crimea)

The peninsula became a Russian region following a referendum in 2014, in which the vast majority voted for reunification with Russia after the Maidan coup in Kiev.

EU nation warns of gas crisis domino effect

(The EU will fail and countries will leave the union due to the bad decisions over Ukraine, imho)

The failure by one European country to fill storage facilities before November 1 would put the entire bloc in danger, Dutch authorities warn

A gas crisis in any one EU country would provoke a domino effect and quickly spread throughout the bloc, according to Dutch Climate and Energy Minister Rob Jetten.

“It’s good if some member states can fill their gas storages by November 1, but if other countries fail to reach 80% – particularly big countries like Germany – then you have to be aware that this will be a domino effect for the whole of Europe,” Jetten told Politico magazine on Tuesday.

The minister noted that in the event of a cessation of Russian gas supply, the Netherlands “will stand with neighboring countries.”

Meanwhile, Jetten stressed that tapping the Groningen gas field, once one of Europe’s largest fields and the continent’s major source of gas for decades, would be an option of last resort. In 2019, the Dutch government announced that the giant field in the northeastern part of the country would be shuttered by October 2022 to limit seismic risks in the region, with gas only to be extracted thereafter in the event of extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Last week, the nation lifted all restrictions on coal-fired power stations to reduce natural gas consumption, while making an “urgent appeal” to businesses to save as much energy as possible ahead of the winter season. Jetten plans to present a plan this week on building two nuclear power plants in the country.

Hungary reiterates its stance on Russia sanctions

(Hungary the only one supporting their people and country)

‘No one should lecture us on our relations with Russia’, Budapest’s envoy to Germany says

Hungary does not want to be lectured on its relations with Moscow and does not plan to impose “radical sanctions” against Russia, the country’s ambassador to Germany Peter Gyorkos said in an interview with Die Welt on Monday.

The diplomat was asked to explain Hungary’s position on the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine and why Budapest continued to go against the EU in many aspects relating to the conflict.

“No one should lecture us on our relations with Russia,” insisted the diplomat, adding that Hungary “knows from its history” that a confrontation with Moscow is something that should be avoided by all possible means.

He noted that Hungary has supported all the EU sanctions imposed on Russia up until the sixth round, which included significant energy restrictions. The ambassador said that Hungary depends on Russian supplies, and that it would take “time and money to reduce dependence,” which is why Budapest has so far refused to support “radical sanctions” and is opposed to an “immediate halt to energy imports.”

Gyorkos also took issue with Kiev’s attempts to pressure Budapest to allow the transfer of weapons from Germany to Ukraine through its territory, stating that “Ukraine’s critical comments are irritating.” He noted that Hungary has “been doing a lot for Ukraine” even if it did not support the movement of weapons.

“Russia has made it clear that arms deliveries will become legitimate military targets,” Gyorkos insisted, pointing out that many Hungarian minorities that live on the Ukrainian side of the border could potentially be put in danger. “We can’t allow that. As simple as that,” said the diplomat.

“Germany is doing a lot for Ukraine. The Germans have already paid a price for this and they will continue to pay for it,” said the diplomat, noting that despite all this, Ukraine continued to respond with “unfair” criticism of Berlin.

“It also bothers me when Ukraine criticizes us. Hungary does a lot for Ukraine,” Gyorkos insisted, noting that Hungary has accepted over 750,000 refugees from Ukraine, many of which have stayed in the country.

Last week, Balazs Orban - a senior adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban - insisted that the EU should stop targeting Russia with new sanctions altogether, and instead focus on finding alternative means of achieving peace through negotiations.

The politician, who is not related to the PM, insisted that any further sanctions on Russia would only serve to hurt the EU’s economy without having a significant effect on Moscow.

Earlier this month, the prime minister warned that any potential gas embargo on Russia would “ruin the whole European economy” and has insisted that only a peaceful solution to the conflict could curb inflation and save the economy from further shocks.
