San Antonio immigrants were found dead in 'cloned' truck, company saysThe death toll of the immigrants found in the back of a semi-truck on Monday, June 27 now sits at 51 as of Wednesday morning, June 29, as a new report says the truck might have been "cloned."

Betancourt Trucking and Harvesting owner Felipe Betancourt Sr. said that the immigrants were in a Volvo semi-truck that was copied to look like one of their commercial vehicles, the Express-News reported Tuesday, June 28. The owner of the Alamo, Texas-based company said that whoever obtained the vehicle copied everything from the color to the identifying number with the federal and state departments of transportation.

"Ours is sitting right here," Felipe Jr., the owner's son, told the Express-News. "My truck doesn’t have a window on the side like the one in San Antonio. … That one in San Antonio is not our trailer."

The San Antonio Fire Department first discovered the semi-truck Monday night at the 9600 block of Quintana Road, and initially discovered 46 people dead in and around the truck. The cause of deaths are still being determined by the Bexar County Medical Examiners Office, but there were no sings of air conditioning or water in the back of the truck.

The number has since increased to 51 as more of the immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras died in area hospitals. There are still 12 being treated. At least two of the people that died have been confirmed to be two girls from Guatemala. Law enforcement officials saidthe bodies were covered in steak seasoning to possibly mask their scent.

Three people were arrested in connection to the trailer but no charges have been officially announced.
