LIVE: Akron Police hold press conference on shooting of Jayland Walker; videos of incident to be played

Early reports were that Walker fired at police, but I couldn't tell from the video; quality was somewhat poor once the police chased the vehicle on foot. Akron Deputy Mayor encouraged 'peaceful protests' earlier in the press conference.

Akron Police: In case that [protests] turn to where they are no longer peaceful, we have a operations plan in place for that.

Lawyer for Walker family just admitted that, "the night before, there had been an attempt to stop him, which resulted in Jayland leaving the area."

"Leaving the area" is apparently now lawyer speak for fleeing from police.

Several armed black militants, looked like 'black panthers' or some related group, on street in Akron.

"Everybody got guns now. They [police] better be careful. Because what you sow is what can also reap."

Sounded like a woman talking to crowd in Akron just told people that if they are felons, to try to vote anyway, and, 'make them tell you no'. Stream was messed up, but I think that's what she was saying.
