Mine is chronic, with the same level and frequency, but every now and then I'll get a "pop" of deafness followed by a much louder and lower hum/whistle that lasts for a few minutes and then recedes back to the normal ringing. You ever get that? I had one yesterday afternoon walking through the yard.
