Lebanese President: demarcation of the border will end soon

Lebanese President Michel Aoun affirmed that "the issue of border demarcation will be finalized soon," and that "the results will be positive and in the interest of both parties."

In a television interview on OTV, President Aoun said that "if things were not positive, Beirut would have stopped the negotiations." Aoun explained that "The demarcation of the borders will end soon, it will not take a long time, and the solution will be in everyone's interest."

"We will reach a solution in a short period, and I believe we have reached an understanding with the Americans who are mediating with 'Israel'," he added, noting that there is a "positive atmosphere" in the negotiations.

On the other hand, Aoun confirmed that "the tour conducted by Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad regarding gas and electricity was positive," explaining in this regard that "the task is to finalize the necessary transactions with the parties that give us gas."

The minister "went to Egypt and Iraq and spoke with them. Thankfully, the results are positive," he added.

Axios: US pressured Lebanon to criticize Hezbollah for drones

US-based Axios website said President Joe Biden's administration pressured the Lebanese government to criticize Hezbollah's sending of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to the Karish field natural gas platform in the Mediterranean sea.

Citing sources briefed on the issue, the website indicated that "U.S. energy envoy Amos Hochstein and U.S. ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea spoke to senior political and military leaders in Lebanon over the weekend," adding that both of them "raised concerns about the drones incident and asked the Lebanese government to publicly speak against it."

Lebanese Resistance movement Hezbollah had released a statement on the three UAVs sent on a recon mission over the Karish gas field, before being shot down by Israeli occupation forces.

Israeli occupation forces had announced that they shot down the three UAVs off the Mediterranean coast. One of the UAVs was downed by an F16 fighter jet, and the other two by Barak missiles launched from the Saar 5 Class Corvette, according to a statement by the IOF.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had recently threatened the Israeli occupation over its attempts to forcibly extract gas from the contested region, saying the resistance is prepared to prevent them from infringing on Lebanese sovereignty.

Syria to become top DPR partner at sea: FM

Trade between Syria and the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) will see the two parties trading metals, industry, machinery, and agriculture, DPR Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova told TASS on Thursday.

Damascus may become one of the DPR's main sea trade partners, Nikonorova added.

"Sea trade is reviving before our eyes, and Syria may become one of our key trade partners. Specialists in this field suggest that joint trade turnover may include metals products, the products of machine building, agriculture," she said.

Following its liberation from Ukraine, the DPR's authorities reconstructed the port of Mariupol and rendered it fully operational once again, she noted, despite the damage it sustained at the hands of Kiev's forces.

"The plan is to load around half a million tonnes of products through the port by yearend," the foreign minister revealed.

Syria became the first Arab nation to declare its intention of recognizing the independence of the DPR as well as its sister republic, the Lugansk People's Republic.

"Applying to the common will and desire to establish relations in all fields, the Syrian Arab Republic decided to recognize the independence and sovereignty of the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk Peoples Republic," an official source in the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said.

The official source noted that "communications will be held with both countries to agree on frameworks for enhancing relations, including establishing diplomatic relations in accordance with the well-known rules."

Syria was also among the first countries in the world to voice support for the Donbass republics, with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad saying on February 22 that Damascus supported the recognition of the DPR and LPR while affirming the Syrian people's solidarity with the two republics.

The Syrian decision came just under a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, signing a decree into law declaring them as independent and sovereign.

Yu-Gi-Oh! manga creator Kazuki Takahashi dies at 60

The creative mind responsible for creating the acclaimed and popular "Yu-Gi-Oh!" manga series, Kazuki Takahashi, has been found dead due to an apparent snorkeling trip incident off the coast of Japan's Okinawa, a coast guard official said Thursday.

He was wearing a T-shirt, an underwater mask, a snorkel, and fins, the Nago official told AFP.

"We are investigating the case as both a possible accident or crime," he said.

The local authorities said Takahashi had sustained injuries to his abdomen and lower parts of the body, which were apparently made by bites from a shark or other sea creatures.

Takahashi was found around 300m offshore and pulled from the water, Japanese media reported, marking a tragic end for the author who entertained millions of people around the world.

"Yu-Gi-Oh!" ran in the Japanese weekly comic magazine Shonen Jump between 1996 and 2004, telling the story of Yugi, a teenager who receives an ancient puzzle that awakens in him the alter ego of an Egyptian pharaoh.

The mystical story garnered widespread attention worldwide, as the manga gave rise to a media franchise including one of the biggest trading card games, as well as an anime series and films.

The story was later published as a series of 38 tankobons (manga volumes) by Japanese publishing powerhouse Shueisha, which did not issue an immediate statement on the author's death.

Takahashi wrote under a pen name, and his real first name was Kazuo.

His creation, Yu-Gi-Oh!, was recognized in 2011 by the Guinness World Records as the world's best-selling trading card game after it sold more than 25.17 billion sets around the world.
