Most people don't know how to pronounce Rothschild. It's two syllables. Actually two words put together. Roth and Schild. In the first part the h is silent, so it's pronounced Rot with a long 'o'. Like in 'row your boat' and it translates as red. Don't know why the Rothschild's put that h in there. The second part: Schild is pronounced: Shilt and translates as shield. The two together translates as red shield.
