I have a short incident I would like to relay to Anon. This is absolutely gob smacking. This morning I had Fox News on while President Trump was answering questions on the White House lawn. The cleaning lady starts shouting and swearing at the television.
Me: What’s going on? Why’re you doing this?
Lady: I hate Trump because he deported my brother in law.
Me: (Instant hackles rising on my neck and visons of MS-13 tattoos going through my mind): How did that happen?
Lady: My brother in law was innocently(!!) speeding doing 80 in a 50mph zone and got pulled over. When the cops found out he doesn’t have a license they arrested him and then deported him back to Honduras.
Me: He got caught breaking the law so exactly how is that President Trump’s fault?
Lady: But he was taken away from his three small kids.
Me: That’s horrible. But why didn’t your sister go back with him?
Lady: She couldn’t go because she was already married to another man.
Me: What?! So exactly how long ago did your brother in law get deported?
Lady: 12 years ago.
Me: 12 years ago?!?!?! How the fuck is that President Trump’s fault? He only became president last year!
Lady: Yes, but Trump’s a racist.
Me: I bet if I asked you to give me even just one example of Trump being a racist you won’t be able to.
Lady: Yes, but he’s got businesses and he not allowed to have businesses.
Me: What are you talking about? They ALL have businesses but the TV news won’t tell you that because they want you to hate President Trump.
Lady: Oh.
I can only imagine how many of them tell each other this kind of bullshit and they get believed. This is how they perpetuate the hate and the ignorance. It’s mind boggling. How do you break through to them?
