Johnson was so deeply unpopular he announced on prime time TV he would not seek the Presidency. Johnson was likely working the interests of "the bosses" so a Democrat, Hubert Humphrey would retain the office.

I'll never accept Reagan was. Nancy was into the whole dates and star signs, Jeanne Dixon coming to the WH was a big scandal.
