On 12 December 2019, NASA announced the chosen landing spot, known as Nightingale (a male night-song bird).
It is expected to return with its sample to Earth on 24 September 2023. (Note the pyramid mission patch - and the probe's bird-like shape). If successful, OSIRIS-REx will be the first U.S. spacecraft to return samples from an asteroid.
