Probably when the cost of living increased to the point parents have to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet, in turn meaning less time spent together, less time being able to properly raise their children. Perhaps finding out what their tax dollars really go to. Some people just want to work enough to live, not live to work. Is the meaning of life to work it away then die?
