Borrell: The EU is losing the narrative on Ukraine

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, after the G20 Foreign Minister’s meeting in Bali, said that the EU is losing the “global battle of narratives when it comes to Ukraine," adding that something needs to be done.

"The global battle of narratives is in full swing and, for now, we are not winning. As the EU, we have to engage further to refute Russian lies and war propaganda, making it clear who is responsible for the aggression and hence its consequences," Borrell said on his blog on Sunday.

According to Borell, the G20 summit, in the majority, supported the resolution condemning Russia’s operation in Ukraine. The members of the G20 are mostly NATO members or close US allies except for a small minority inclusive of Russia, China, and India while a few others attempt to maintain a sense of neutrality and balance their ties with both the West and Russia.

However, Borrell pointed out that this unity halts when it comes to discussing the steps forward and the consequences of the war. In his blog, Borell stated that “The G7 and like-minded countries are united in condemning and sanctioning Russia and in trying to hold the regime accountable. But other countries, and we can speak here of the majority of the “Global South”, often take a different perspective.”

In conclusion, Borrell highlighted that despite everyone’s agreement that the war in Ukraine must end, many refused or were reluctant to “name the aggressor.” According to Borell, that is because some called the Collective-West’s pressure on Russia a “double standard” and seek to retain good relations with Russia or at the very least avoid jeopardizing them when many do not agree with the NATO and EU narrative on the situation in Ukraine.

During the G20 Summit

During the G20 summit, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken refused to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, but during the negotiations, he addressed Russia and spelled out US financial help to alleviate global food shortages, which are claimed by the US to be caused by the crisis in Ukraine, a major source of world grain and corn exports.

"Russia is the source of the problem, the United States is focused on solutions," Blinken said, according to the Western official that was present.

On Telegram, Russian spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that “From the moment the meeting of the G20 began, Lavrov was in the hall and after about two hours began to hold bilateral talks in the next room with colleagues on the same forum."

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, at the summit in Indonesia, the host country encouraged the G20 to help stop the crisis in Ukraine, which put some of Russia's harshest opponents in the same room as Moscow's top diplomat. "Aggressors', 'invaders', 'occupiers' - we heard a lot of things today," Lavrov told reporters.

He said the Western debate "strayed almost immediately, as soon as they took the floor, to the frenzied criticism of the Russian Federation in connection with the situation in Ukraine," adding that "During the discussion, Western partners avoided following the mand.”

Borell used the fact that Lavrov left the G20 meeting after Russia had been ‘frenzied’ to point another finger at Russia saying it is proof of "how much Russia really cares about multilateral fora."

>> Pfff!!!! Loosing the narrative. Kek! This is only the start. [They] loose control of the masses when [they] loose control of the narrative.

US intelligence sends Kiev satellite photos to target civilians

According to a member of the Russian hacking collective RaHDIt, US intelligence is sending Kiev satellite photographs, including ones of Russian territory, where Ukrainian strikes are afterwards carried out with civilian targets.

The RaHDIt hacker said "We know for sure that the American intelligence supplies Ukrainian intelligence with satellite images, radar data, including satellite images of Russian territory, where Ukrainian missiles and shells actually arrive. We can also see that their radar detection systems are working in the interests of Ukrainian intelligence."

On July 3, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Ukraine had deliberately targeted civilians by attacking residential areas of the Russian cities of Belgorod and Kursk with Tochka-U missiles with cluster warheads and Tu-143 drones. All three missiles were shot down by Russian air defense, but one of them crashed into a neighborhood. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod area, reported that the shelling destroyed 65 homes, including apartment buildings, and left four people dead and four others—including a child—injured.

The source told Sputnik that "to deliver such strikes, you need to have accurate information, the location of the targets."

Is this enough reason to start a war? I mean from the lawful point of view. Each time I read such stories, I think this is going to be used as an excuse to start the war. [They] keep on poking the bear.

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/uk-french-german-belgian-police-have-worrying-extremism-leve

UK, French, German & Belgian police have worrying extremism levels

According to a report by the Institute of Race Relations (IRR), police forces in the UK and across Europe are suffering from an expanding "culture of extremism," as more officers from the establishments share racist and far-right content onto their pages.

The problem, according to the institute, is that UK policing has a growing extremist problem. For instance, in France, 81% of gendarmes said they would vote for a far-right politician like Marine Le Pen.

Former French, German, Belgian, and Hungarian high-ranking police officers have also become extreme-right mayoral and parliamentary candidates.

British police officers' behaviors have raised concerns that they are "institutionally racist." One group of officers were sharing images on WhatsApp of two murdered black sisters, while another group of officers at the central London station were joking about rape, killing black children and beating their wives.

Last month, the Metropolitan police was placed on special measures after scandals that included Sarah Everard, who was murdered by a Met officer, in addition to strip-searching innocent black children, and the stop-and-searching of British Olympic sprinter Bianca Williams.

Liz Fekete, director of IRR, said: “Our conclusion that the dehumanizing mindset and overall sense of impunity and entitlement displayed in police WhatsApp groups is a symptom, not a cause, of authoritarian trends in policing, will no doubt make for uncomfortable reading.”

Fekete added: “Racism has become entrenched in policing as the rank and file are resituating themselves as society’s victims and organizing on an ever more extremist agenda.”

Many avatars and hashtags on Twitter are seen to have the "thin blue line" across the British flag and they are seen on police officers' uniforms in Manchester - the line is associated with the US' "blue lives matter" movement, or White nationalism.

Furthermore, the report warns of a link between racist attitudes and operational practice, in relation to predictive policing and racial profiling. For instance, last December, concerns were raised about Operation Pima conducted by the Met, where the intelligence reports showed that 61% of the individuals mentioned to be the "most prolific or violent offenders" were black.

Amnesty International's Ilyas Nagdee said the research was of importance and could be used to look into “alternative approaches to public safety.”

Systemic violence on Europe's borders

Last month, what seemed like an "unfortunate event" on the Morocco-Melilla border was, thanks to videos circulated by the media, a massacre that brutally killed 37 mostly-African refugees coming from Chad, Niger, South Sudan and Sudan. Over 150 were injured in the violence, which included charges and beatings by security forces coming from both the Spanish and the Moroccan sides.

The scene at the border is hardly representative of Spain's and Europe's "democratic" values. After refugees, fleeing wars that have no end in Africa, climbed fences that erect 6 to 10 meters high, they were beaten up violently by Spanish police, that worked in close coordination with the Moroccan authorities, calling them in illegally.

Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez articulated his full support for the border guards' actions, demonizing the refugees as attackers against the "territorial integirty" of Spain.

Europe’s imperialist viewpoint of the world comes as no surprise – the increasing militarization and systemic brutality of the continent’s armies are resurrecting grounds for fascist violence on its borders as well as its neo-colonies.

More alive than ever today, European fascism (even through the self-proclaimed leftist presidents) is waging a war on the east, their armies in the process of deploying the most brutal forms of repression against those standing in their way of imperial conquest.

Europe has been taking on an anti-refugee concept – rigid and violence. Last winter, Poland left refugees to freeze to death in the forests on its border. In 2019, Italy’s Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, called on the EU to suspend all naval rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea, which left thousands of people to drown. “Progressive” Finland, with its application to join NATO, declared its intention to begin constructing barriers along its border with Russia to guard against any refugees being used as “hybrid warfare” by Russia.

Mossad plane lands in Riyadh ahead of Biden's visit: Israeli media

The political affairs commentator for the Israeli Makan channel, Shimon Aran, said today, Monday, that a private Israeli plane "that the Israeli Mossad used in the past landed this afternoon in Riyadh."

The Israeli commentator confirmed, through his account on Twitter, that the plane landed this afternoon in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, apparently in preparation for US President Joe Biden's visit.

US President Joe Biden said on Saturday that he aims to "strengthen a strategic partnership" with Saudi Arabia during a visit next week but claimed that he will hold true to "fundamental American values."

In a Washington Post opinion piece published Saturday, Biden wrote, "I know that there are many who disagree with my decision to travel to Saudi Arabia."

"My views on human rights are clear and long-standing, and fundamental freedoms are always on the agenda when I travel abroad, as they will be during this trip," he claimed.

Biden is holding bilateral talks with King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his leadership team during his visit to the Middle East this week.

Biden said in a comment published in the Washington Post late on Saturday that his goal is to "redirect, not sever, relations with a country that has been a strategic partner of the United States for 80 years."

In conjunction with the approaching date of Biden's visit to Saudi Arabia, four people familiar with the matter said the US President's administration "is discussing the possibility of canceling its embargo on US sales of offensive weapons to Saudi Arabia, but the final decision depends on Riyadh making progress toward ending the war in Yemen."

Following the announcement of US President Joe Biden's visit to Saudi Arabia, multiple US lawmakers expressed their concerns, CNN reported, ignoring, however, the Israeli occupation crimes against Palestinians.

Among those who made remarks on the upcoming visit was Senate Majority Whip Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, who called on the US President to change his plans.

On his part, Virginia Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, described Biden's trip as a "really bad idea", especially in regard to the case of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"What's the fundamental issue in the world right now? It's the authoritarians. … I don't think you go say, 'Well, circumstances change. We sit down with a murderer who killed a journalist (Khashoggi) who lives in Virginia.'"

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/netanyahu-highly-values-mbs-role-in-achieving-abraham-accord

Netanyahu highly values MBS role in signing 'Abraham Accords'

Israeli media relayed the appreciation of the leader of the Israeli opposition, Benjamin Netanyahu, to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, for his contribution to the completion of the four so-called "Abraham Accords".

Netanyahu said that in case he assumes leadership once again, then he intends to achieve full "peace agreements" with Saudi Arabia, as well as with other Arab states.

The former Israeli Prime Minister's statement comes ahead of an upcoming visit by US President Joe Biden to the Middle East, during which he will meet with Palestinian and Israeli occupation officials.

According to Israeli media, Biden plans to meet with Netanyahu during his upcoming visit to "Israel".

This is the first time in which an Israeli official openly highlights bin Salman's clear contribution to the signing of the normalization agreements with the Israeli occupation.

The UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan were part of the so-called "Abraham Accords" brokered by former US President Donald Trump's administration in 2020 to normalize relations with "Israel".

Mossad plane lands in Riyadh ahead of Biden's visit

On Monday, the political affairs commentator for the Israeli Makan channel, Shimon Aran, revealed that a private Israeli plane "that the Israeli Mossad used in the past landed this afternoon in Riyadh."

The Israeli commentator confirmed, through his account on Twitter, that the plane landed this afternoon in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, apparently in preparation for US President Joe Biden's upcoming visit.

Netanyahu visited Saudi Arabia

It is noteworthy that "Israel" Hayom newspaper had previously revealed that Israeli envoys visited Riyadh several times throughout a period of time that extends for over a decade now. However, these visits have always been kept secret.

There has been one exception to the secret visits and that is Netanyahu’s visit in November of 2020 to the Red Sea city of Neom, which was widely yet carefully publicized, where he met with bin Salman.

Previously, Israeli Security Minister Benny Gantz had visited Saudi Arabia as chief of staff, while Aluf Meir Dagan, Tamir Pardo, and Yossi Cohen arrived as heads of Mossad and Ben Shabbat as head of the "National Security Council." The purpose of the visit was to develop security coordination, especially against Iran.

Netanyahu, as did most Israeli officials, had flown to Saudi Arabia in a private plane especially leased for this occasion. At the time, it was business contacts that have matured into political, military, and security deals.

A “road map for normalization”

In the same context, four informed US sources told Axios that the White House has been working on a “road map for normalization” between Saudi Arabia and the Israeli occupation ahead of US President Joe Biden’s visit to West Asia in July.

Earlier this year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman said, “We do not view Israel as an enemy, but rather as a potential ally in the many interests that we can pursue together, but some issues must be resolved before we can reach that."

>> 9 lives Bibi.
