Nobody expect deflation but if you want the worst thing in the world to happen (and some do) you deflate the dollar leaving everyone with debt they can never hope to repay.
Maybe you only have $5 in debt. But what if the best job you can find only pays $3.35 an hour. Good luck paying that off. But wait, sign here, take the pledge and the chip and we'll write it off!
