Chairman Thompson: As a part of his last-ditch effort to overturn the election and block the transfer of power, Donald Trump summoned a mob to Washington, DC, and ultimately spurred that mob to wage a violent attack on our democracy.
Stephanie Murphy: The president's goal was to stay in power for a second term, despite losing the election. The assembled crowd was one of the tools to achieve that goal.
Raskin: The problem of politicians whipping up mob violence to destroy fair elections is the oldest domestic enemy of constitutional democracy in America.
Cipollone [video deposition]: "Did I believe he [President Trump] should concede the election at a certain time? Yes, I did."
Cheney [video interview]: They [President Trump's administration] lost sixty out of sixty-one of those cases.
[not based on evidence]
Raskin: Throughout our hearings, you've heard how President Trump made baseless claims that voting machines were being manipulated by foreign powers in the 2020 election.
[not baseless- they were acts of war; treason assisted by U.S. officials]
Raskin: [Sidney Powell] made outlandish claims about Venezuelan and Chinese interference in the election, among others.
Cipollone [video deposition]: "To have the federal government seize voting machines? That's a terrible idea for the countryโฆthere's no legal authority to do that."
[interference with critical infrastructure [by foreign and domestic actors] is all the legal authority needed]
Hershmann [video deposition; sarcastically]: At one point, General Flynn took out a diagram that supposedly showed IP addresses all over the world, and who was communicating with whom via the [voting] machines, and some comment about thermostats being hooked up to the internet.
Raskin: Certain accounts of this meeting indicate that President Trump actually granted Ms. Powell security clearance, and appointed her to a somewhat ill-defined position of Special Council.
Cipollone, in video deposition, said that President Trump was legally able to name Powell as special council, but he considered it invalid without 'proper paperwork'. Not sure, but I would think the president could appoint such a position verbally, and it would be legitimate, the 'paperwork' to be drawn up at a later time.
Committee playing video of everyone from Alex Jones and Tim Pool, to 'Salty Cracker'. kek
Committee playing audio from an unnamed, unseen Twitter employee, claiming President Trump might use the platform to, 'speak directly to folks who might be incited to violenceโฆit was very clear that individuals were ready, willing, and able to take up arms'.
Raskin: Jim Watkins, the owner of 8kin, the fringe online forum that was birthplace of the QANON extremist movement, confirmed the importance of President Trump's tweet. [calling people to DC]
Raskin reading ridiculous [obviously planted] violent comments, looks like from 4chan, as well as donald.win.
Washington Post commentator, January 6th Hearing stream: Democrats and republicans on Capital Hill all believe that republicans are going to win control of the House, and dissolve this committee.
Committee showing video of people in the street, looks like the night of January 5th, appears to have been close to when Epps was calling for people to storm the Capital. Of course, his comments were not shown.
