‘I have to fight with you guys:’ Man accused of fighting with state troopers in Westmoreland County

SOUTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
A San Antonio, Texas, man is facing several charges after allegedly breaking into two Westmoreland County properties and fighting with state troopers. Simran Pal Virk, 31, is being held in the Westmoreland County Jail. State police said the incident began Saturday when police were dispatched for a suspicious man who broke into a property on Fitz Henry Road in South Huntingdon Township through a garage door. Police said the man was scared off by the property owner and broke into a horse barn on Bolbrich Lane. When police caught up with him they said the man was found to be under the influence of PCP and K2 and they later learned he was a paranoid schizophrenic and having a manic episode. The man, identified as Virk, allegedly said to troopers, “I have to fight with you guys because the horses told me to do it.” Troopers said they attempted to pat him down Virk became combative. According to police, troopers deployed their Tasers and a struggle ensued. Virk allegedly tried to take a Trooper’s taser during that struggle. He faces a preliminary hearing on July 20.
