Biden Backs Canada Helping Restart Russian Pipeline After Killing US Pipeline Projects
President Joe Biden’s administration is supporting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision to ship natural gas pipeline equipment to Germany, which will lead to the European economic hub importing more Russian natural gas.
State Department spokesman Ned Price expressed Washington’s support for the move in a statement Monday.
Trudeau’s government plans to ship the equipment for the Nord Stream 1 pipeline back to Germany after it had been kept in Montreal due to sanctions on Russian gas, according to Bloomberg. The decision is aimed at preventing serious economic turmoil in Germany due to high energy prices.
“We support the Canadian government’s decision to return a natural-gas turbine to Germany for use in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline,” Price said, adding that the move “will allow Germany and other European countries to replenish their gas reserves, increasing their energy security and resiliency and countering Russia’s efforts to weaponize energy.”
German Economy Minister Robert Habeck told Bloomberg that Russia would use the sanctioned turbines to shut down the Nord Stream pipeline entirely, crushing Germany’s capacity to store fuel before the winter.
European gas prices fell after the announcement, Bloomberg reported. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said the decision was “dangerous” in a statement released July 10.
Despite supporting the continued use of Russia’s Nord Stream 1 pipeline, Biden has opposed constructing new pipelines in the U.S., and he put a stop to the completion of the Keystone XL pipeline.

Second Democrat Louisiana Judge Blocks State Trigger Law, Allows Abortions to Resume
Democrat Louisiana District Judge Donald Johnson has ruled that abortions may resume in Louisiana, despite a trigger law that went into effect restricting most abortions.
The law was written so that if Roe v. Wade was overturned, virtually all abortions in the state would be immediately banned — unless the mother is at risk of death or permanent injury.
On July 12, Judge Johnson issued a temporary restraining order that blocked the state law.
On July 18, a hearing will take place at the 19th Judicial District Courthouse in East Baton Rouge Parish, during which he will decide if he will grant a preliminary injunction.
Judge Johnson is the second in the state to block the law.
Days after the Supreme Court ruling, another Democrat judge, Judge Robin Giarrusso of the Orleans Parish Civil District Court issued an order temporarily halting the law after abortion providers in the state filed a lawsuit. However, as WFAB reports, State District Judge Ethel Julien lifted that order arguing that the lawsuit should have been filed in the state capital, Baton Rouge, instead of New Orleans.
Abortion providers represented by Center for Reproductive Rights argued that “the abortion restrictions violate providers’ due process rights and ‘lack constitutionally required safeguards to prevent arbitrary enforcement,'” according to a report from Fox News. They also claimed the laws were vague and did not set a specific start time for the law to be applied.
“A public health emergency is about to engulf the nation. As expected, Louisiana and many other states wasted no time enacting bans and eliminating abortion entirely,” Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, said in a statement obtained by Axios.
“People who need an abortion right now are in a state of panic. We will be fighting to restore access in Louisiana and other states for as long as we can. Every day that a clinic is open and providing abortion services can make a difference in a person’s life,” Northup continued.
Benjamin Clapper of Louisiana Right to Life issued a statement saying that “it is disappointing that another judge is preventing laws supported by our citizens and their legislators from being enforced to protect babies from abortion. These delays mean that innocent babies targeted for abortion are back in the crosshairs at for-profit abortion businesses. The lawsuit is frivolous and wastes taxpayer dollars. We look forward to our law being vindicated and lives being protected.”
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry has vowed to fight the lawsuit and defend the trigger law.
For now, abortions are legal in the state.

Sanction exemptions will only embolden Moscow, the Ukrainian president says
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has argued that Canada’s move to return a turbine required for a pipeline transporting Russian gas to Germany will be seen as “weakness” by Moscow.
Zelensky said the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has summoned a Canadian envoy over the “absolutely unacceptable” decision to allow the return of a repaired item to Germany. The device is required for Nord Stream, the Baltic Sea pipeline that delivers gas from Russia to Germany.
“The decision on the exemption from the sanctions will be viewed in Moscow only as a sign of weakness,” Zelensky argued in a video address published on Tuesday.
“If a terrorist country can claw out such an exemption from the sanctions, what exemptions will it want tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? It is a very dangerous matter.”
“Now, there can be no doubt that Russia will try not just to limit as much as possible, but to completely shut down the supply of gas to Europe at the most acute moment. This is what we need to prepare for,” the Ukrainian president said.
The turbine had been held up in Canada due to sanctions imposed on Moscow in response to its military campaign in Ukraine. Russian state gas giant Gazprom said last month that it was forced to reduce the flow through Nord Stream because the turbine had not been returned on time. The company then suspended the flow completely for 10 days starting Monday, citing planned maintenance.
German Economy Minister Robert Habeck argued at the time that Gazprom’s decision to reduce the flow through the Nord Stream was politically motivated. At the same time, he also urged Canada to allow the turbine be shipped to Germany.
“Strong sanctions mean it must hurt and harm Russia and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin more than it does our economy,” Habeck told Bloomberg last week. “Therefore, I ask for understanding that we have to take this turbine excuse away from Putin.”
On Monday, Ottawa gave the greenlight for the return of the turbine. “Canada will grant a time-limited and revocable permit to Siemens Canada to allow the return of repaired Nord Stream 1 turbines to Germany,” Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said.
The US Department of State backed the move, saying that, “in the short term, the turbine will allow Germany and other European countries to replenish their gas reserves, increasing their energy security and resiliency and countering Russia’s efforts to weaponize energy.”

The outlet reported that Amazon claimed that the ads included "prohibited content."
"We don't allow content that appears to infer or claim to diagnose, treat, reverse or question sexual orientation," Amazon Advertiser Support told the Daily Wire via email.
But Amazon is apparently willing to feature sponsored search results for books that promote the dogmas of radical leftist gender ideology.
A search for the phrase "gender identity" on the website turns up sponsored results for books such as "Gender Identity Workbook for Teens: Practical Exercises to Navigate Your Exploration, Support Your Journey, and Celebrate Who You Are" and "You and Your Gender Identity: A Guide to Discovery."
Walsh also has a "What Is a Woman?" documentary.
While the question should not be difficult to answer, it can become significantly more difficult for people who adhere to the bizarre concepts involved in left-wing gender ideology. While women are the only people who can become pregnant and bear children, proponents of these bizarre concepts have adopted preposterous phrases like "birthing people" in order to be inclusive of pregnant women who do not identify as women.
As the left seeks to foist radical gender ideology upon society, many people, like Walsh, remain staunchly opposed to the reality-defying movement. Societal debates continue to rage regarding issues such as whether biological males who identify as women should be allowed to compete in female athletics or use female restrooms.
Walsh is also the author of the children's book "Johnny the Walrus," which serves to challenge the liberal gender ideology.

Tech CEO arrested for 30-year-old murder in alleged love triangle gone sour
A tech CEO was arrested at JFK airport last week for the killing of his roommate’s girlfriend three decades ago in a love triangle that turned deadly.
John Woodward — the president and CEO of California-based Readytech — was cuffed as he arrived at JFK airport last Saturday for the killing of 25-year-old Laurie Houts on Sept. 5, 1992, officials said Monday.
Woodward allegedly strangled Houts to death with rope in a jealous fit after developing unrequited feelings for his roommate, who Houts was dating at the time, according to the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office.
The tech CEO, who moved to the Netherlands after the murder, was the prime suspect during the initial investigation in the ’90s, but a lack of evidence led a judge to dismiss the case after two court trials with hung juries.
Woodward, now 58, was openly jealous of Houts, a computer engineer, for her relationship with his roommate and had no alibi, the DA said.
He even as asked what investigators knew in response to his roommate — who was wearing a wire — directly asking if he had killed his girlfriend.
His fingerprints were found on the outside of Houts’ car, where her body was found with a rope around her neck, by a passerby in Mountain View, California, but investigators were never able to place him inside the vehicle — until about thirty years later.
In 2021, the Santa Clara County Crime Lab and Mountain View Police Department detectives weren’t just able to prove that Woodward was inside Houts’ car — they linked him to the murder weapon.
New developments in forensic testing turned up DNA evidence on the rope used to strangle Houts which was matched back to Woodward.
Woodward was charged with murder by strangulation and is currently being held without bail in New York while he awaits extradition to California. He will be arraigned when he arrives in Santa Clara County and faces life in prison if convicted.
Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen said his office never stopped seeking justice for Houts and her family, even after two failed trials.
“I want Ms. Houts family and friends to know that we never gave up on her,” Rosen said in a statement. “Neither time nor distance will stop us from finding out the truth and seeking justice.”

Eight candidates have been selected to compete to replace Boris Johnson as UK Prime Minister and head of the Conservative Party, the committee in charge of organizing the race revealed on Tuesday.
Graham Brady, a Conservative MP and the chair of the 1922 Committee, confirmed the list of names at a press briefing in Westminster.

The conservative majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday that ballot drop boxes were illegal in the state, and it didn’t take long for right wing election lie evangelists to declare the decision proof of a fraudulent 2020 vote, and even to demand again that the election results be overturned.
The COVID-19 pandemic moved Wisconsin election officials, backed by a memo from the state’s Election Commission, to install hundreds of drop boxes across the state. Justice Rebecca Bradley wrote for the court’s 4-3 majority Friday that “Ballot drop boxes appear nowhere in the detailed statutory system for absentee voting.”
Donald Trump, whose campaign filed an unsuccessful 2020 lawsuit to overturn Wisconsin’s election results based on the use of drop boxes, was first in line: “This means I won the very closely contested (not actually!) Wisconsin Presidential race because they used these corrupt and scandal-ridden Scam Boxes,” he wrote in a post on his social media website, Truth Social.
During a rally in Alaska, Trump said Democratic officials in Wisconsin “systematically violated the law to rig the 2020 presidential election.” Separately, he wrote that other states were “looking at, and studying” the state court’s “amazing” decision.
“Speaker Robin Vos has a decision to make!” Trump said. “Does Wisconsin RECLAIM the Electors, turn over the Election to the actual winner (by a lot!), or sit back and do nothing as our Country continues to go to HELL?” He referenced a legally impossible resolution to overturn the election results that sounded like the one pushed by State Rep. A post on John Solomon’s right-wing “Just The News” website similarly asserted, “Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling on drop boxes undercuts Democrats’ clean election claim.”
The article presented no evidence of the use of drop boxes leading to the counting of fraudulent votes — there is none. Instead, it argued that the decision was “evidence that a widely used mechanism for the 2020 election was illegal, undercutting Democratic claims that any irregularities in the contest were insufficient to sway outcomes.”
On the social media website Gettr, Steve Bannon commented on the ruling, “now DECERTIFY THE 2020 BIDEN ELECTORS.”
Tom Fitton, the heavily bicep’ed leader of the right-wing legal advocacy group Judicial Watch, said the court’s decision was “a historic vindication for Trump.”
“Zuckerboxes were one of the most visible ways that the unprecedented infusion of private money into the 2020 election led to disparate treatment of voters,” said another right-wing legal voice, Phillip Kline of the Amistad Project.
The Trump-campaign-linked group filed unsuccessful lawsuits seeking to overturn the 2020 election in multiple states. Kline was subpoenaed by the congressional Jan. 6 Committee in March.
