Naureen Hassan Resigns from the New York Fed

NEW YORK—The Federal Reserve Bank of New York today announced that Naureen Hassan has stepped down from her role as First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. She will be leaving the New York Fed in September 2022 for a senior leadership role in the private sector and in the interim has moved to an advisor role to help facilitate a smooth transition. Helen Mucciolo, Chief Financial Officer and Head of the Corporate Group, will serve as interim First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer until a successor is named.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service, one of the largest single employers of professional accountants, is now hiring 470 revenue agents who will specialize in auditing or examining both individual and business taxpayers nationwide.

 

Known officially as Internal Revenue Agents, these positions are at grades 5-12 in the federal civil service system with a base pay ranging from $31,083 to $68,299.

Zahawi and Hunt knocked out of contest

Nadhim Zahawi and Jeremy Hunt have been eliminated from the race to be next Tory leader, following the end of the first round of voting.

 

Candidates needed at least 30 MPs to support them to progress to a second round - neither Hunt nor Zahawi managed this.

 

Those six who made it will now proceed to a series of votes among MPs, eliminating the last placed candidate in each round until a final two are left.

 

This process is set to be completed by Parliament's summer recess on 21 July.

 

The remaining pair will then face Conservative party members at a series of hustings around the country over the summer, who will vote to select the new leader, and therefore prime minister.
