US successfully tests hypersonic missile off California coastfoxnews

Lockheed Martin is working on several hypersonic weapons for the U.S.

The Lockheed Martin-produced missile is designated the Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW). The plane-mounted missile had previously failed to detach in past tests, according to Reuters.

Hypersonic weapons fly in the upper atmosphere and reach incredible speeds of up to Mach 5, or more than 3,800 miles per hour.

The U.S. has numerous projects researching hypersonic weapons, as do Russia and China. Tuesday's test is at least the third time the U.S. has successfully used one of the weapons since September.

The U.S. last publicly tested another Lockheed Martin-designed hypersonic in April. The Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC) is fired from the ground rather than from an aircraft.

The weapon reportedly achieved speeds above Mach 5 at an altitude above 65,000 feet and was able to sustain its speed for at least 300 miles.

The U.S. faces staunch competition in developing the weapons, with Russia and China also conducting tests. Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed to have used a hypersonic missile during its invasion of Ukriane earlier this year.

China also successfully tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile last year in a shock to U.S. watchdogs.

The Chinese fired the missile in August, and it circled the globe before striking at its target, missing by roughly 24 miles.

"We have now idea how they did this," one individual familiar with the U.S. intelligence response to the test told The Financial Times.

Durham requests 30 subpoenas for testimony in trial against Steele source Igor Danchenkowashexaminer

Special counsel John Durham requested a federal court to issue 30 subpoenas for testimony in the trial against Igor Danchenko, British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s alleged main source for his discredited dossier.

Danchenko was charged with five counts of making false statements to the FBI, which Durham says he made about the information he provided to Steele for the dossier. His trial is scheduled for October. The DOJ’s watchdog said FBI interviews with Danchenko “raised significant questions about the reliability of the Steele election reporting” and concluded Danchenko “contradicted the allegations of a ‘well-developed conspiracy’ in” Steele’s dossier. He has pleaded not guilty.

Durham’s brief court filing on Wednesday requested the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia to issue “thirty subpoenas” for an “appearance before said Court at Alexandria, Virginia,” starting on Oct. 11 “to testify on behalf of the United States.” The potential witnesses are not named, but a copy of the blank subpoena reads that “YOU ARE COMMANDED to appear.”

U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga, who is handling the case, was nominated by President George W. Bush in 2008, and he has also been on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court since 2020.

Danchenko, a Russian-born lawyer and researcher who has lived and worked in the Washington, D.C., area for many years, was indicted in November on a charge of lying to the bureau. The trial against him is Durham’s next big test.

Democratic cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussmann had been charged in September by Durham after reportedly concealing his two clients, Neustar chief technology officer Rodney Joffe and Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign, from FBI General Counsel James Baker when he pushed debunked allegations of a secret line of communication between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa-Bank during a September 2016 meeting. But a jury found him not guilty in late May.

Danchenko allegedly relied upon a network of Russian contacts but undermined key collusion claims when interviewed by the FBI. According to Durham’s false statements charges, he anonymously sourced a fabricated claim about Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort to longtime Hillary Clinton ally Chuck Dolan, who spent many years doing work for Russian businesses and the Russian government, including in 2016.

Steele is best known for his discredited anti-Trump dossier, which Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz concluded in December 2019 played a "central and essential" role in the FBI's effort to obtain wiretap orders against former Trump campaign associate Carter Page. The dossier was created after Steele was hired by Fusion GPS, which was itself hired by Perkins Coie and Marc Elias, the general counsel for Clinton’s campaign. Sussmann worked for Perkins at the time too, and both he and Elias met with Steele in 2016.

Steele was working for Vladimir Putin-linked oligarch Oleg Deripaska before, during, and after his time targeting Trump.

America First Legal files demands with EEOC, asking agency to open a civil rights investigation into DICK’S Sporting Goods for violating federal law following Supreme Court’s abortion decision.

• AFL contends DICK’S paid travel for abortions violates the law by discriminating on the basis of childbirth.

• ALF asserts that under the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, DICK’S must provide an equivalent paid benefit to a mother who gives birth.

‘I’m A Pedophile’:Biden-Era USPS Chief in Mail-In Ballot Unit Arrested After Trying To Meet Teen Boy For Sex.

A high-level U.S. Postal Service official appointed under President Joe Biden was caught during a child sex sting, admitting “I’m a pedophile” on camera.

Russell Rappel-Schmid, the Chief Data Officer for the U.S. Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), was caught in San Diego, California attempting to meet a 14-year-old boy for sex.

The PRC is responsible for overseeing the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) – which deals with mail-in ballots during election season – and Rappel-Schmid was tasked with running the commission’s data management and compliance with the OPEN Government Data Act.

While federal authorities have not yet confirmed the man in the video is Rappel-Schmid, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department announced that Rappel-Schmid was released from the city’s Central Jail early Tuesday morning after being arrested on Monday. His felony arraignment is set for next Monday.

Rappel-Schmid was reportedly in San Diego for a business conference when he allegedly tried to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old boy for sex. The People vs Predators group filmed the encounter, and Rappel-Schmid can be seen admitting “I’m a pedophile.”

In response to the video and criminal charges, the PRC terminated Rappel-Schmid from his position.

“The Postal Regulatory Commission has become aware of the recent arrest of one of our employees. Upon becoming aware of this information, the Commission has terminated this employee effective immediately. The Commission is shocked and horrified at these serious allegations and maintains a steadfast commitment to promptly deal with any claims of employee misconduct.”

Rappel-Schmid’s profile has been removed from the agency’s website.

He joined the oversight body under President Joe Biden in May and previously served as the State of Alaska’s first chief data officer. Rappel-Schmid also worked at the USPS Office of Inspector General (USPS OIG) on the data analytics team and as an audit manager.
