Update July 14, 8:13 p.m.: Local Fox reporter Angela Ganote obtained a copy of the mandatory termination of pregnancy report and mandated report of child abuse filed by Bernard in Indiana. PJ Media was denied these same reports earlier today by the Indiana Department of Child Services with an explanation that said the reports were “confidential.” Indiana Attorney General Rokita says the investigation is still ongoing and told Fox, “As we stated, we are gathering evidence from multiple sources and agencies related to these allegations. Our legal review of it remains open.”

Dr. Caitlin Bernard, who alerted the media to the 10-year-old who was raped in Ohio in order to lobby against Republican abortion-restriction laws, is facing at least two investigations for her conduct. Fox News reported that her employer, Indiana University, is investigating her for HIPAA violations for revealing information about her patient to the press.

Fox News’s Aishah Hasnie reported that the Indy Star was rightfully questioned for its incomplete reporting because reporters “cited only an anecdote from the Indiana doc [Caitlin Bernard] who was caring for this girl.” The abortionist, Bernard, was also “at an abortion rights rally talking about” the rape, Hasnie said.

She went on to report that “[Bernard’s] employer [Indiana U] has filed a HIPAA violation against her for sharing details about the young patient.”

PJ Media reached out to Indiana University to confirm the investigation and get clarification on the violations, but the university did not respond at the time of publishing.

On Wednesday evening, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita went on Fox News’ “Primetime” with Jesse Watters and announced that he is launching an investigation into Bernard as well.

More Fallout for Democrats From 10-Year-Old Rape Victim Story

The controversial story of a 10-year-old rape victim who was transported from Ohio to Indiana to procure an abortion has been very clarifying. First reported by pro-abortion leftists around the world, the story was picked up by PJ Media’s Megan Fox, who was the first reporter to ask questions about the sizable gaps in the narrative. Megan’s outstanding research arguably began the pressure campaign that ultimately produced an announcement of the arrest of the illegal alien rapist three weeks after the crime was first referred to police.

Why did the arrest take so long? It’s certainly possible investigators wanted to make sure the case was rock-solid before making an arrest. Or was law enforcement dragging its feet on arresting an illegal alien in a high-profile, barbaric case until the spotlight the pro-aborts had shined on it was focused elsewhere?

But more importantly, the left has just lost another one of its major talking pointsas the post-Dobbs landscape takes shape: no one will force pregnant children to carry babies to term. Sorry, handmaids: barely-pubescent raped girls will not be experiencing the “forced birth” you’ve all been screeching about.

One of the many fishy aspects of this story is that the victim was transported across state lines to procure an abortion, even though Ohio’s new heartbeat law would have permitted the procedure to take place within the state. The law allows abortion in Ohio when medically necessary: “‘Medical necessity’ means a medical condition of a pregnant woman that, in the reasonable judgment of the physician who is attending the woman, so complicates the pregnancy that it necessitates the immediate performance or inducement of an abortion.”

This basically rules out forcing any pregnant girl to carry a pregnancy to term. How young is too young to have a baby? This will have to be established, and the medical community will come to a consensus. A momentous change like overturning Roe v. Wade will naturally take some time to sort out. But the tragic Ohio case has just given it a big nudge.

Still another piece of fallout is that Indiana is now investigating the doctor who performed the abortion,Dr. Caitlin Bernard, for failure to report the rape of a minor — something she’s been investigated for before. And not only that, even the mainstream media has been shamed into reporting the investigation. Good: it’s long past time the abortion industry took responsibility for reporting abusers consistently and in accordance with the law.

Was the poor victim unnecessarily transported across state lines for the procedure just so an activist doctor would have a headline? Let’s pray that, for the sake of the child, that’s not the case. Perhaps the Ohio doctors were just overly wary of the newly triggered heartbeat law. But going forward, it’s now clearly established that children don’t need to travel out of states with laws like Ohio’s to terminate pregnancies.

The tragedy of rape and abortion is that the mother did not choose the pregnancy, but that’s also not the baby’s fault. I don’t believe there is a good answer in situations like that. But when you add in the loss of life or health of the mother, then the scales tip further to one sad side than the other. Pro-life absolutism is unlikely to become law in any state.

At any rate, pro-abortion leftists wanted to shine the spotlight on this story, and now they’re getting what they asked for. Good.

Chuck Schumer ‘Shellshocked’: Leftists Sob as Joe Manchin Kills Green New Deal Again

Democrats and climate activists were left outraged on Thursday when Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) refused to go forward with his party’s economic package, citing its climate and energy programs as well as its raising of taxes on wealthy Americans.

Manchin’s decision to pull the plug comes after weeks of negotiations with Democrats to craft a bill that he would support and seven months after he killed President Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan.

“Political headlines are of no value to the millions of Americans struggling to afford groceries and gas as inflation soars to 9.1 percent,” said Sam Runyon, a spokeswoman for Manchin. “Senator Manchin believes it’s time for leaders to put political agendas aside, re-evaluate and adjust to the economic realities the country faces to avoid taking steps that add fuel to the inflation fire.”

“Senator Manchin has not walked away from the table,” she added.

According to the New York Times, Manchin’s rejection of the plan shatters President Biden’s “ambitious climate agenda,” which aimed to be “the largest single federal investment in American history toward addressing the toll of climate change.”

“Without action by Congress, it will be impossible to meet Mr. Biden’s goal of cutting U.S. emissions roughly in half by the end of this decade,” noted the Times. “That target was aimed at keeping the planet to stabilize the climate at about 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming compared to preindustrial levels.”

As of Thursday morning, Democrats were optimistic they had reached a deal with Manchin only to have their hopes dashed at the last minute. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his staff were reportedly left “shellshocked” after believing Manchin would deliver.

“Many were seething with anger at Mr. Manchin,” said the Times. “They criticized him as having strung negotiators along, while watering down a package that at one stage would have been sufficient to put a steep dent in emissions and also adding fossil fuel projects that cut against climate goals.”

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) told the Times that Manchin may have helped sabotage the “last chance to prevent the most catastrophic — and costly — effects of climate change.”

“We can’t come back in another decade and forestall hundreds of billions — if not trillions — in economic damage and undo the inevitable human toll,” Wyden told the outlet. “If we can’t move forward as we had hoped, we need to salvage as much of this package as possible. The expression that failure is not an option is overused, but failure really is not an option here.”

Leah Stokes, a professor of environmental policy at the University of California Santa Barbara, reportedly “sobbed on Thursday night” upon learning Manchin’s reversal after she had put “months of work” into helping Democrats craft climate legislation.

“The stakes are so high,” she said. “It’s just infuriating that he is condemning our own children.”

Tiernan Sittenfeld, the senior vice president for government affairs at the League of Conservation Voters, said there are no “=•words that are suitable for printing in The New York Times, for how appalled and outraged we are==.”

The House Judiciary Committee will be moving on an “assault weapons” ban bill that targets at least 45 specific AR-15 rifles and approximately 30 specific AK-47s.

The legislation Rep. David Cicilline’s (D-R.I.) assault weapons bill, H.R. 1808.

Cicilline’s bill would ban the manufacture and sale of at least 45 specific AR-15 rifles , including, “Bushmaster ACR, Bushmaster Carbon 15, Bushmaster MOE series, Bushmaster XM15, Chiappa Firearms MFour rifles, Colt Match Target rifles, CORE Rifle Systems CORE15 rifles, Daniel Defense M4A1 rifles, Devil Dog Arms 15 Series rifles,” as well as the Diamondback DB15 rifles.

The bill would also ban the manufacture and sale of all AR-pistols, and specifically naming thirteen that are specifically listed: “American Spirit AR–15 pistol, Bushmaster Carbon 15 pistol, Chiappa Firearms M4 Pistol GEN II, CORE Rifle Systems CORE15 Roscoe pistol, Daniel Defense MK18 pistol, DoubleStar Corporation AR pistol, DPMS AR–15 pistol, Jesse James Nomad AR–15 pistol, Olympic Arms AR–15 pistol, Osprey Armament MK–18 pistol, POF USA AR pistols, Rock River Arms LAR 15 pistol,” and the “Uselton Arms Air-Lite M–4 pistol.”

Punchbowl News reports the bill will be marked up Wednesday by the House Judiciary Committee and Democrat leadership aides indicate “the bill could come up for a floor vote as soon as the last week of July.”

On January 13, 2021, Breitbart News noted National Shooting Sports Foundation numbers that there were “20 million firearms in private possession which Democrats label ‘assault weapons.’”

Rep. Burgess Owens Slams Left’s ‘Racist Attacks,’ Says Justice Clarence Thomas ‘Should Be Revered, Not Ridiculed’

The “hard left” encourages “racism, inequality, [and] inequity,” according to Utah Rep. Burgess Owens, who condemned the “racist attacks” and violence unleashed by the left following the overturning of Roe, including the “racially charged firestorm against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas,” who he said should be “revered, not ridiculed.”

Speaking at the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing on privacy and civil rights in post-Roe America on Thursday, Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) joined the “eloquent defense of life” offered by many of his Republican colleagues, as he called to “recognize the sanctity of all life.”

Describing himself as “having grown up in the Jim Crow South of segregation and KKK,” Owens said he was “familiar with the true racism, intolerance, and hate — all due to the color of my skin.”

“I see the same thing today in 2022 as the hard left, the so-called party of tolerance, who bang the drum of racism, inequality, inequity, do not practice what they preach,” he said.

He noted that the “leaked opinion and reversal of Roe v. Wade unleashed carefully planned attacks on pro-life organizations, violent protests, and an assassination attempt at the home of Supreme Court Justice [Brett Kavanaugh] and his family” as well as a “racially charged firestorm against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.”

However, Owens said the targeting of Thomas was “nothing new,” adding that he “has been the target of the elitist left for 40 years.”

“Instead of celebrating the second black American in our nation’s history [ascending to the] highest court, they declared open season with vicious and racist attacks,” he stated.

“This is because he’s an articulate, confident black American who loves the American tenets of God, country and family,” he added. “It’s because he’s a black man who dares to think differently than they would love for him to think.”

He then shared several of the attacks with the committee:

• “Samuel L. Jackson called Justice Thomas ‘Uncle Clarence’ and tweeted that a ban on interracial marriage is next,” he said.

• He then called attention to Mississippi Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson’s having called Justice Thomas “Uncle Tom” while citing the Supreme Court Justice’s “support for voter ID and opposition to affirmative action.”

• Thompson also stated that “Justice Thomas doesn’t like black people” and “doesn’t like being black,” said Owens.

• Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot “attacked Justice Thomas in a profane rant suggesting the decision would lead to overturning gay marriage,” he stated.

• In addition, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “called Justice Thomas an angry person of grievance.”

But according to Owens, “it’s not just Justice Thomas they attacked.”

• “CNN suggested that Congresswoman Mayra Flores wasn’t the real deal,” he said. “They believed, and I quote, ‘she holds views outside Latino mainstream.’”

• “Mayra, too, dares to think differently than what the elitist left demands,” he added.

• Also, Owens noted, Professor Michael Eric Dyson, appearing as a guest on MSNBC’s The ReidOut with host Joy Reid, called Republican and Marine veteran Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears “a black mouth of white supremacy.”

• In addition, Twitter “allowed ‘Uncle Tim’ to trend for hours after Senator Tim Scott’s State of the Union rebuttal, before taking action.”

Owens then offered “advice” for members of the left who “attempt to divide us with their hateful rhetoric.”

“First,I recommend a good book I read a couple decades ago called ‘How to win friends and influence people,’” he said. “The hard left is failing big time in this area.”

“Second,” he added, “I suggest you’ve totally missed the basic 101 of the American spirit:we don’t respond well to intimidation and bullies and cowards.”

Calling the “pattern of intolerance” both “disgusting” and “unjustified,” as well as “un-American,” Owens claimed it “shows how far we’ve come from MLK’s dream where our children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by [the content of their character].”

“Instead of working to delegitimize our institutions, [they] default into fear mongering tactics and basic arguments that the Supreme Court wants to take away our rights,” he said, calling to “be honest with the American people.”

“Dishonesty is not appreciated by the American people, and you’ll see that in November this year, check it out,” he added.

Calling Roe a “flawed decision” from the start, Owens highlighted its overturning merely gives states the right to decide on the issue.

Blue State Blues: Biden Succeeds In Israel by Abandoning His Own Policies

President Joe Biden’s visit to the State of Israel this week has been successful — thanks largely to the fact that he has not been able to implement his campaign promises or the policies clearly preferred by the left-wing staff running his administration.

In the 2020 campaign, Biden sought to appease anti-Israel voices within his own party by promising to open a consulate for the Palestinians in “East Jerusalem.” He also vowed to bring back the Iran nuclear deal, and he criticized Saudi Arabia harshly.

Today, Biden has abandoned plans for a Palestinian consulate that would divide the city — so much so that the White House had to walk back a gaffe by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, a noted Russia hoaxer, that Biden still intended to do so.

Biden signed a declaration committing to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon; he told Israeli TV the U.S. would use force. And he is flying from Tel Aviv to Saudi Arabia — after Trump flew the first direct leg in the opposite direction in 2017.

Biden clings to the conceit that he is somehow correcting his predecessor’s mistakes. He laughably told a press conference on Thursday that he was addressing the “vacuum” of U.S. leadership in the Middle East somehow left to him by his predecessor —moments after praising the Abraham Accords, which only came about because of Trump’s intense diplomatic involvement. To the extent there is a “vacuum,” it was caused by Biden’s former boss, Barack Obama, who allowed Russia back into Syria.

Moreover, Biden continued to attack Trump for pulling out of the Iranian nuclear deal in 2018, a decision that was welcomed by Israel and the Sunni Arab world because the deal allowed Iran to become a nuclear power over time, and did nothing to stop its broader nefarious activities.

Earlier this week, Sullivan complainedthat Iran is supplying Russia with drones; that, as then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned in 2015, is the kind of mischief that the Iran nuclear deal allowed.

Biden also continues to flog the dormant two-state solution, and restored hundreds of millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to the Palestinian Authority without getting anything in return. Notably, last year’s war between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian terror group ruling Gaza, happened after Biden pledged the cash. The administration began the war by criticizing Israel, and casting a false moral equivalence between the two sides, but eventually faced the reality of Palestinian malfeasance…

That has enraged the Palestinians, who still apparently do not know how to do anything except complain about Israel.They turned down Trump’s invitation to join the Abraham Accords, with $50 billion in investment as an incentive, and so instead they are watching the region move beyond their self-indulgence.

Even new Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, the left-wing alternative to Netanyahu, has only spoken once to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. They are impossible to deal with.

SoBiden’s visit to Israel was a success, because he confirmed the status quo in U.S.-Israel relations, and implicitly accepted the direction that Trump set for the region. And unlike Obama, who delayed visiting Israel until his second term, Biden is not trying to isolate Israel, or conjure a new regional counterweight.

The Palestinians had a chance to influence Biden in the early days; they blew it in the usual fashion. Trump’s policies endure because Israel, and the Arab states, prefer his approach.

Overall, Biden’s visit is a success for Israel and for U.S.-Israel relations, and highlights the degree to which Palestinians have missed the boat. Moreover, it places relations with Israel on firmer bipartisan foundations. Democrats still have a problem with their anti-Israel (and antisemitic) left flank. But at least on this one issue, the most left-wing administration in U.S. history turned its back on “progressive” ideology and did the right thing, to the benefit of the American and Israeli people.

George Gascón to Disband Unit That Notifies Victims of Convicts’ Parole Hearings

Gascon’s office confirmed the move to Fox News, saying that notifying the victims can be “triggering” to them, that it bogs down resources, and that ultimately, it is the responsibility of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Gascon’s office said the Lifer Unit was already downsized under the administration of Los Angeles County’s previous District Attorney, Jackie Lacey, adding that victims still have access to the supportive services of its Victim Service Representatives.

Gascón was elected in 2020 with the help of millions of dollars in spending by left-wing billionaire George Soros. He defeated Lacey, an incumbent who was the first black woman to hold the job but had been criticized by Black Lives Matter.

Now, with rising public outrage at the crime surging across Los Angeles, Gascón faces a probably recall election, pending verification of the more than 700,000 signatures that were handed in last week to place a recall on the next ballot.

Thursday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Special Report,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) criticized his congressional Democrat colleagues for spending bills, which he said have contributed to the inflationary pressures the country was facing.

According to the Kentucky Republican, the next move for Democrats was to “tax us into a recession.”

“Gene [Sperling] had a really tough job trying to defend the indefensible,” he said. “There’s one clear reason we are suffering from 40-year-high inflation, the 2.9,– the $1.9 trillion so-called rescue package passed last year in March, without a single Republican vote, which Bill Clinton’s Secretary of the Treasury Larry Summers said at the time was going to create record inflation. And Jason Furman, President Obama’s top economist, said it was going to create record inflation. And it has. And you saw the numbers the other day. They continue to go up. So, Gene did the best job he could defending the indefensible.

This inflationary spiral is entirely the responsibility of this all-Democratic government,” McConnell continued. “And, as you suggested, now they want to make it worse by having yet another spending bill, which they argue is some version of BBB, which Senator Manchin shot down a year ago. And they’re discussing raising taxes, which, coupled with the interest rates that the Fed is going to have to pick up, likely leads to a recession. So they want to tax us into a recession after spending us into inflation.”
