'Israel' fears military escalation against the Karish platform

Israeli media expressed fear of the possibility of a military escalation against the Karish platform if the coming period doesn't witness progress in the negotiations on the maritime borders with Lebanon.

The Israeli sources claimed that the US envoy did not hold Lebanese answers to the inquiries, stating that the maritime border demarcation talks with Lebanon are "pending".

Yesterday, Israeli media quoted Israeli Energy Minister Karen Al-Harrar as saying that she met with the American mediator for negotiations on the maritime borders with Lebanon, Amos Hochstein, who did not present the Lebanese position on the controversial issues.

On the other hand, Israeli media quoted Hochstein as saying, "We narrowed down some gaps and had good talks, and there must be an agreement between Israel and Lebanon."

In a speech on Wednesday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah spoke about the latest developments in the issue of Lebanon's maritime borders and oil and gas extraction, stressing that "the resistance is the only force Lebanon has to obtain its right to its oil and gas […] the extraction of [the natural resources] provides Lebanon with billions of dollars without the need for any foreign debt, and this is the only path for salvaging the country."

Sayyed Nasrallah stated that "the Resistance has the right to take any step of any gravity and at any time to pressure the Israeli enemy."

Earlier, Lebanese President Michel Aoun informed the US envoy in the file of demarcating the maritime borders with occupied Palestine, Amos Hochstein, of Lebanon's official position, stressing Lebanon's sovereign rights to water and natural resources.

Furthermore, Free Patriotic Movement chief Gibran Bassil warned the Israeli occupation, telling "Tel Aviv", "You want your gas… then we want our gas […] That is how a strong state acts, that is, we preserve national dignity, and that is how sovereignty is."

Israeli expert: Hezbollah soldiers more experienced than Israelis

Eyal Pinko, a professor at Bar-Ilan University’s Political Studies Department and an expert on military strategy and intelligence, pointed out that "the average Hezbollah soldier is much more experienced and trained than the average Israeli soldier."

In an interview for the Jerusalem Post, Pinko considered that "Hezbollah is a highly organized army. Israel cannot afford a war with Hezbollah, the losses will be immense."

The professor indicated that "Hezbollah’s firepower is highly significant; it is not clear at all that Israel will be able to handle it."

The Jerusalem Post explained that "militarily, Hezbollah has only grown in strength since 2006. In addition to the arsenal of rockets and missiles, the organization is believed to have over 100 drones."

The newspaper website pointed out that "the multilayered Israeli air defense systems, considered to be highly sophisticated, will likely have difficulty fending off barrages of thousands of rockets every day in the event of a war with Hezbollah."

It is noteworthy that during his speech on Wednesday, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, underlined that one of the Resistance's many achievements in the July war is foiling the US plan for a "new Middle East."

"Another one of the July War's many achievements is creating an equation of deterrence between Lebanon and the Israeli enemy," Sayyed Nasrallah said. "All the Israelis realize that Benny Gantz's words about entering Lebanon are null and void."

"There was a US project to take control of the region through direct military intervention, but the resistance and Lebanon's resilience and the objectives of the July War dealt a heavy blow to the new Middle East project," the Resistance leader explained.

In regard to the Karish platform and the oil and gas extraction file, Sayyed Nasrallah noted that the Israeli occupation has a weak point: "its need for gas and oil in contrast with Lebanon's strong point, which is its ability to sabotage [the occupation's plans]. The resistance is the only strong point that you (the Lebanese officials) have in the demarcation negotiations. Use it."

Qasem Soleimani was murdered by Israel. Potus Trump, stepped in and pretended it was him in order to stop WW3 from starting. Potus defused the situation. Iran has flipped from back then. They are working with Potus. Potus is so bold, incredibly brave. Each time he mentioned Soleimani in his speeches, it was a jab at Israel. Soleimani was working with the Alliance. Wait and see. The truth will come out soon. I know I’m going to take a lot of heat for saying all of this. Time will tell if I’m right or wrong.

Biden to discuss oil output hike in Saudi Arabia, up pressure on Iran

The US delegation visiting Saudi Arabia, headed by President Joe Biden, will discuss during their visit to Saudi Arabia the possibility of Riyadh increasing its oil production and pumping out more oil into the global market, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Friday.

"We will discuss energy security at this meeting. The President [Biden] discusses it when he's in Europe, when he's in Asia and he certainly will be discussing it here in the Middle East and here in Saudi Arabia" Sullivan said.

Biden arrived at Al-Lydd's Ben Gurion Airport, occupied Palestine, on Wednesday, where he was received by high-ranking Israeli officials on his first official visit to occupied Palestine as President. He is scheduled to meet with Lapid and other senior Israeli officials on Thursday.

Biden spent two days in occupied Al-Quds for talks with Israeli officials then headed to the occupied West Bank to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday. He packed his bags and headed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday after concluding his tour in occupied Palestine.

The tour will see the US leader try and mend ties with Saudi Arabia to persuade Riyadh and other Gulf allies to pump out more oil in the markets as the Biden administration faces mounting criticism over the soaring oil prices.

More sanctions on Iran

Upon completing his first leg in occupied Palestine, he signed with Israeli occupation caretaker Prime Minister Yair Lapid a security pact reinforcing the US-Israeli front against the Islamic Republic.

Iranian army commander Abdolrahim Mousavi said on television that Tehran was "aware of the aggressive attitude in the (United States') system of domination, it is necessary to increase our defensive capabilities day-by-day."

Sullivan revealed that his country intended to hike economic pressure on Iran and introduce new rounds of sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

"The deal is on the table. Should the Iranians choose to take it, we're ready for compliance, for compliance return. But we're also not waiting to continue to impose economic pressure on Iran," Sullivan said.

"Further economic pressure on Iran will include two rounds of sanctions. Designations that we have done to enforce the sanctions and crack down on smuggling and deprive Iran of sources of revenue will continue to do that, even as we work at the negotiating table to try to produce a return to the JCPOA," he claimed.

US President Joe Biden and Israeli occupation Prime Minister Yair Lapid have been reportedly discussing signing an accord that will see the two upping the commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and carrying out "destabilizing activities", a senior US administration official said Thursday.

Major powers and Iran were holding talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna with the aim of reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement and returning the United States to it following Washington's unilateral withdrawal in 2018 under then-President Donald Trump, who accompanied his decision with the imposition of harsh sanctions on Tehran.

The Biden administration had pledged to stop embarking on the Trump administration's "maximum pressure policy", but it has only been going against its promises.

The negotiations are yet to yield a deal, and Biden wants to ensure that Washington, "Tel Aviv", and Riyadh are on the same page on Tehran if the Iran nuclear talks fail, The New York Times said, noting that the US President is hoping the talks succeed.

European "independence"

The US official also revealed that his country was making joint efforts with Washington's partners in Asia and West Asia to end Europe's dependence on Russian energy by increasing oil and gas supplies to Europe.

"[T]hat doesn't happen overnight, but it does require the concerted common effort of the United States and many other countries working to help increase supply to Europe," he said.

"We're doing that and, frankly, we're doing that along with partners in Asia and partners in the Middle East."

Orban: Europe 'shot itself in the lungs' with sanctions on Russia

The European Union has "shot itself in the lungs" with imprudent economic sanctions on Russia, which risk destroying the European economy if not rolled back, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Friday.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions by the West, gas supplies to Europe have tightened and fuel costs have increased, leaving countries scrabbling to refill storage and look for other supply channels.

The surge in prices pushed Orban on Wednesday to curtail a years-long cap on utility prices for higher-usage households, removing one of the prime minister's signature economic policies.

"Initially, I thought we had only shot ourselves in the foot, but now it is clear that the European economy has shot itself in the lungs, and it is gasping for air," Orban told public radio in an interview.

The prime minister said European leaders should rethink their strategy, due to the widespread damage caused to the European economy.

"The sanctions do not help Ukraine, however, they are bad for the European economy and if it goes on like this, they will kill off the European economy," he said. "What we see right now is unbearable."

"The moment of truth must come in Brussels when leaders admit they have made a miscalculation, that the sanctions policy was based on wrong assumptions and it must be changed."

Re-elected in April, Orban said that without Wednesday's curbs, which would lead to a rise in energy costs for households consuming energy, the entire utility price cap regime would have to be scrapped.

Fires, fanned by strong winds and heat, sweep across North Morocco

Moroccan firefighters and soldiers were working late Thursday, July 14, to control several fires that progressed during the day in isolated wooded areas in the north of the country.

About 500 families were evacuated “as a preventive measure” in the provinces of Larache and Taza, and no casualties have been reported so far.

The fires are ravaging forests in the provinces of Larache, Ouezzane, Tetouan, and Taza, in northern Morocco, said Fouad Assali, director of the Forest Climate Risk Management Center (CRCF).

An entire village in the Ksar El Kebir region has been destroyed by the flames and at least 1,000 hectares (2,500 acres) of forest have burned in Larache and Ouezzane since Wednesday night, despite continuing efforts to contain the fire.

Morocco has been hit for several days by a heat wave, combined with an excruciating drought, with temperatures nearing 45 degrees.

"It is the heat that causes this kind of fire. It was yesterday at dawn that the fire reached our village," Ahmed Mezouar, 58, a resident of Larache.

"We are afraid for our houses," he said. "For the moment, we are safe."

Wildfires are also raging in southern Europe, from Portugal and Spain through to France and Greece.

The worse is yet to come as climate change affects soaring temperatures around the globe.
