Just an opine as I sit here waiting for something to explode in a completely metaphorical way. The Trump years yielded us as Americans a time of collective peace, relief, and prosperity. Historically, times like these gave way to a cultural Renaissance of sorts. Playing a part in this are obvious factors like basic needs being secured and extra funds that nurture potential hobbies and forms of creation, exploration and art. Truly, I did notice many people around me having more freedom and peace of mind to create things and explore their worlds around them. Even those who disliked Trump found themselves with enough extra leisure to make music or art about him. In the times we find ourselves in today, I am saddened by the images of abandoned hobbies and even dreams, as those same people I've previously observed have no choice but to work more or take a second job that renders them tired in an endless cycle of hopeless exhaustion. Those who previously had a complaint about Trump, now have no time for politics, as they figure out which bill to pay in the order of importance. They no longer have the time to absorb the world around them. Only work and struggle still. It was only a couple of years, but I believe the American people now understand that there could be more to life than just working in a slave system as they had a glimpse that left almost as quickly as it came. It was a sudden rush of invigoration for the American dream that in the time seemed on the verge of extinction.
