LGBT ‘propaganda’ faces complete ban in Russia

A new bill compares the promotion of “non-traditional sexual relations” with war propaganda and inciting national, racial or religious hatred

The promotion of LGBT relations could be permanently banned in Russia under a bill introduced to the State Duma on Monday, which likens such messaging to war propaganda and incitement of hatred.

Currently, LGBT ‘propaganda’ in Russia is only banned when directed at children, but some politicians have been calling for harsher restrictions and punishments for the “denial of family values” and “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.”

In an explanatory note attached to the bill, the authors argue that LGBT ‘propaganda’ has become widespread in Russia and is being promoted through the media, public events, streaming services and through the depiction of such relationships in films.

“In Russia, at the legislative level, it is not allowed to promote suicide, drugs, extremism, criminal behavior, as they are considered negative and socially dangerous phenomena. At the same time, formally, until now, there is no ban on propaganda of the denial of family values and non-traditional sexual relations, including with the use of film distribution,” the note reads.

The authors of the bill – who do not include members of the ruling United Russia party – claim the denial of family as a social value, promotion of so-called “childfree” lifestyles, and the approval and recognition of non-traditional sexual relations, is dangerous not only for children and young people, but for society as a whole, since it “puts the issues of demography and future economic growth at risk.”

The bill seeks to supplement current legislation by introducing administrative and criminal responsibility for spreading LGBT messaging across any demographic in the Russian Federation and to deny distribution rights to films that promote such relations.

Just as Washington begins to take the TikTok threat seriously, the Democrats join the platform.

The Democratic National Committee has officially joined TikTok, a controversial social media platform with deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party, despite advising their own campaigns against joining the Chinese-owned app during the 2020 election cycle.

“We continue to advise campaign staff to refrain from using TikTok on personal devices. If you are using TikTok for campaign work, we recommend using a separate phone and account,” the DNC security team instructed its candidates two years ago.

Despite the warning, the Democratic Party has completed an about-face on the platform, at the same time Washington, D.C. begins to take seriously the threat of spying through the app.

The DNC’s stark reversal comes amidst evidence revealing that the TikTok parent company employs former Chinese Communist Party officials, including individuals with military ties, to executive roles and even grants party members preferential treatment in hiring processes.

The app’s founder also pledged to use ByteDance to “promote socialist core values” and devotion to the Chinese Communist Party in 2018.

TikTok’s threat to national security and data privacy – previously acknowledged by the DNC – prompted the Trump administration to attempt to ban the platform from operating in the U.S. – an effort recently quashed by the Biden White House.

The committee maintains it is employing security precautions such as dedicating individual devices that are isolated from “other DNC assets/processes/businesses as a mitigation to the privacy risk.” The DNC attributed its decision to an effort to reach more voters, particularly younger generations.

The move comes amidst a massive lobbying campaign mounted by TikTok and its parent company ByteDance. Many of the lobbyists and firms hired by the company have ties to Democratic politics and leaders such as Nancy Pelosi.

The Biden administration’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) is promoting an activist organization that seeks to embed leftist gender theory in the classroom.

The CDC LGBT Youth Resources page, archived here, directs teachers to access educator resources from the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a leftwing organization that seeks to embed gender theory into America’s classrooms.

“Looking for ways to support Ally Week, No Name-Calling Week or the Day of Silence? Interested in finding ways to bring LGBTQ-visibility into your curriculum? You’ve come to the right place!” GLSEN’s website explains.

The organization continues by noting the guides can be used to direct activism and to embed ideological positions into school curriculum when it says “GLSEN’s education team has created educator guides for each of our Days of Action, along with other resources for increasing LGBTQ visibility and affirmation into any curriculum.”

Among GLSEN’s educator guides is “Supporting LGBTQ+ Students of Color,” which instructs teachers to “De-center whiteness in LGBTQ+ history, inclusive curriculum, and visual representation,” “Reflect on your own identities, privileges, and power,” and to “Participate and/or advocate for both LGBTQ+ and anti-racist education training at your school.”

GLSEN maintains a list of books that teachers can use in the classroom to encourage “LGBTQ-visibility.” The list, intended for elementary school children, includes “A is for Activist,” as well as “I am Jazz,” which endorses the idea that children can be transgender.

GLSEN also advocates for men to be able to play in women’s sports and to use women’s restrooms and locker rooms. The organization previously partnered with both the YMCA and Nike to bring an OnlyFans performer to teach children a suggestive form of dancing.

Swedish LGBT Writer Demands Mosques Welcome and Include Homosexuals

Swedish writer Jonas Gardell has demanded that mosques welcome and include members of the LGBT community and examine their attitudes toward homosexuals following the Oslo gay pub shooting.

Jonas Gardell, who self-identifies as gay, stated that after two people were killed in last month’s Oslo shooting at a well-known gay pub ahead of the city’s Pride festivities, mosques should be more inclusive toward the LGBT community.

The main suspect in the Oslo attack, Iranian national Zaniar Matapour, is said to have been linked to radical Islamic extremists who were also linked to the Islamic State terrorist group.

“Of course, the vast majority of Muslims are not extremists but reject violence. But damn it, everyone has a responsibility, a responsibility for how the religion they belong to views gay and transgender people, an obligation to defend and include LGBTQ people in their congregations, to receive us in their mosques as loved by God, just as we are,” he wrote in an opinion article for newspaper Expressen.

“Excluding gay and transgender people with the argument ‘according to our religion…’ is nonsense. The correct wording, in that case, is ‘according to my interpretation of our religion…’. Religion is never static but always evolves and changes as time goes on, and it can never be used to oppress and discriminate against other people,” he added.

Gardell also notes the problems some of his homosexual Muslim friends have faced, being forced to flee their countries as some majority-Muslim countries hand down the death penalty for those convicted of homosexuality.

“Embracing their gay brothers and sisters would be a first step on the way to taking on the responsibility that all of Scandinavia’s Muslims actually have to protect the democracy we live in and for hate crimes like the one in Oslo to never be committed again,” Gardell said.

While Muslims in Sweden remain largely conservative in their views on homosexuality, Sweden’s national church, the Church of Sweden, has largely embraced the LGBT movement, although there has been some division on same-sex marriage among members of the clergy.

Last August, the church of Sweden was split on a proposed policy to force all priests in the church to conduct same-sex unions even if the individual priests were against the practice and wished to abstain.

In one case, an openly gay Swedish priest announced that he would refuse to conduct marriage ceremonies for straight couples to protest the loophole that allowed priests to abstain from same-sex unions.

Interim San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins fired 15 staffers who worked for Chesa Boudin, the city's controversial progressive DA who was ousted in an historic recall election last month.

"Today, I made difficult, but important changes to my management team and staff that will help advance my vision to restore a sense of safety in San Francisco by holding serious and repeat offenders accountable and implementing smart criminal justice reforms," Jenkins said in a statement, according to SFGate.

Jenkins — who quit her job in Boudin's office in 2021 to join the recall effort against him — was appointed DA by San Francisco Mayor London Breed on July 7 and will serve until November when she'll run in a special election determining who will complete Boudin’s term through 2023.

KTVU-TV legal analyst Michael Cardoza — a former prosecutor who worked in the SFDA's office — told the station that "the purge allows the new DA to bring her people in that have the right mental attitude toward prosecuting crime."

Jenkins has installed an all-female executive team, KTVU-TV reported, adding that her picks include Ana Gonzalez — one of Boudin's seven firings in his first two days in office — as well as Nancy Tung, Tiffany Sutton, and Kulvidar "Rani" Singh Mann.

"I promised the public that I would restore accountability and consequences to the criminal justice system while advancing smart reforms responsibly," Jenkins said in a press release, according to KTVU. "I have full faith and confidence that these women will promote and protect public safety while delivering justice in all of its various forms."

One leftist calls firings 'terrifying'

Cat Brooks, co-founder of the progressive Anti Police-Terror Project, told SFGate that Jenkins' firings are "terrifying."

"San Francisco has taken 10 giant steps backwards," Brooks told the outlet. "Jenkins was dangled in front of us because she's a black woman, which was supposed to make us feel better, but the firings are terrifying. I hope this raises the ire of the left and makes us realize we must fight, or we will lose. We always say a shift to the right can’t happen in California, but it is happening right here in San Francisco."

Boudin — a socialist who's the son of violent radicals — was elected in 2019 amid a national wave of progressive prosecutors running for office and promising to stop tough-on-crime policies they said disproportionately affected minorities.

Several key progressives such as Vice President Kamala Harris and socialist U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) supported Boudin's candidacy. Radical anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour claimed she cried tears of joy after Boudin won.

Within his first two days in office, Boudin fired seven tough-on-crime prosecutors. He also vowed to not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes, such as public camping, prostitution, public urination, and blocking a sidewalk.

But Boudin's soft-on-crime approach left the city's overwhelmingly liberal voting base with bad tastes in their mouths: They overwhelmingly supported Boudin's recall by a vote of 60% to 40%.

Gender activists push to bar anthropologists from identifying human remains as ‘male’ or ‘female’

But a new school of thought within archaeology is pushing scientists to think twice about assigning gender to ancient human remains.

It is possible to determine whether a skeleton is from a biological male or female using objective observations based on the size and shape of the bones. Criminal forensic detectives, for example, do it frequently in their line of work.

But gender activists argue scientists cannot know how an ancient individual identified themselves.

“You might know the argument that the archaeologists who find your bones one day will assign you the same gender as you had at birth, so regardless of whether you transition, you can’t escape your assigned sex,” tweeted Canadian Master’s degree candidate Emma Palladino last week.

Over 300 Government Workers Quit Due to Governor Youngkin’s Telework Policy

Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s new employment policy has resulted in hundreds of government workers resigning.

The revised plan now requires mostly in-person work for the state’s employees. This move effectively cancels the ability to work mostly from home, which was put in place to combat the Covid pandemic.

Virginia is ranked in the top quartile of states for its Covid response. With cases and fatalities at a manageable level, the governor’s office is putting out the strong message that it is time to go back to work.

While 300 may seem like a lot of people, the state has about 712,100 employees. That equates to .042% of the total workforce quitting because they must go into the office.

A Youngkin’s administration spokesman commented on the change, saying “We know an office-centric environment fosters collaboration and teamwork and provides an even greater level of service for all Virginians.”

The disgruntled employees are not alone in their sentiments. A large portion of Americans are resisting returning to work, with a common refrain being all they are gaining is a commute.

Democrats in the state legislature have urged Youngkin to delay the policy, noting that a top-down one size fits all approach does not serve the diverse needs of workers.

Detractors have also pointed out that the labor market is currently very tight. More people may leave for the private sector which may provide more flexibility and childcare options.

The Virginia Department of Transportation suffered the most losses with over 180 people leaving government service.

Not surprisingly, high gas prices have been cited as a contributing factor. A long commute, once bearable, has become prohibitively expensive for some.

Although teleworking solves the fuel issue, it has been shown to have a negative impact on productivity. Studying accounting data reveals that people working from home were not able to show similar results as those who worked in the office.

Youngkin for his part is pushing forward with the policy despite the objections. The next few months will reveal if his approach to remote working is the right one.

No major problems with ballot drop boxes in 2020, AP finds

ATLANTA (AP) — The expanded use of drop boxes for mailed ballots during the 2020 election did not lead to any widespread problems, according to an Associated Press survey of state election officials across the U.S. that revealed no cases of fraud, vandalism or theft that could have affected the results.

The findings from both Republican- and Democratic-controlled states run contrary to claims made by former President Donald Trump and his allies who have intensely criticized their use and falsely claimed they were a target for fraud.

Drop boxes are considered by many election officials to be safe and secure, and have been used to varying degrees by states across the political spectrum. Yet conspiracy theories and efforts by Republicans to eliminate or restrict them since the 2020 election persist. This month, the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s conservative majority ruled that drop boxes are not allowed under state law and can no longer be widely used.

Drop boxes also are a focal point of the film “2,000 Mules,” which used a flawed analysis of cellphone location data and ballot drop box surveillance footage to cast doubt on the results of the 2020 presidential election.

In response to the legislation and conspiracy theories surrounding drop boxes, the AP sent a survey in May to the top elections office in each state seeking information about whether the boxes were tied to fraudulent votes or stolen ballots, or whether the boxes and the ballots they contained were damaged.

Rep. Jody Hice subpoenaed in Georgia election investigation

Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) has been subpoenaed in his home state to appear before a special grand jury investigating efforts by former President Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

Hice was one of 10 congressional Republicans who attended a December 2020 White House meeting to discuss challenging the 2020 election results, according to testimony unveiled by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

New court filings reported by CNN on Monday reveal Hice was served the subpoena last month, but don’t go into detail on what exactly Hice will be asked to testify about.

The Hill has reached out to Hice’s office for comment.

Hice posted on Twitter in December 2020: “Big meeting today with @realDonaldTrump, @VP, the President’s legal team, @freedomcaucus and other Members of Congress. I will lead an objection to Georgia’s electors on Jan 6. The courts refuse to hear the President’s legal case. We’re going to make sure the People can!”

Several key Trump allies have already been sent subpoenas by the grand jury in Fulton County, Ga., including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) and conservative lawyers John Eastman, Jenna Ellis and Cleta Mitchell, as part of its investigation into criminal interference in the state’s 2020 election process.

The Associated Press reported Friday that prosecutors are also considering a subpoena for the former president.

Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) on Jan. 2, 2021, and asked the top state elections official to “find” votes that would override President Biden’s victory in the state. Raffensperger rejected the request.

Hice ran a Trump-backed campaign for Georgia’s secretary of state office this year and was defeated by Raffensberger in the GOP primary.

Kiev will be ready for talks with Moscow only after the latter’s "defeat on the battlefield," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said.

"Let us first change the situation on the front, and then we will speak. Everyone understands that the talks are directly linked with the situation on the front. I say it to all partners: Russia is to sit down at the negotiating table only after the defeat on the battlefield. Otherwise it will be a language of ultimatums again," he said in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, which came out on Monday.

According to the Ukrainian top diplomat, President Vladimir Zelensky has a principled position on this matter. "He doesn’t rule out possible talks, but there are no grounds for them now, taking into account Russia’s aggressive behavior," he said, adding that the president told it quite clearly to Western leaders who had hinted at possible talks.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Monday, commenting on Kuleba’s words, that Kiev doesn’t want peace and has refused from talks with Moscow under Washington’s dictation.

"This is an answer to all who accuses Russia of dodging talks with the Kiev regime: the Kiev regime has refused from them itself. Kuleba has confirmed it once again today. However, he forgot to add that it is not the position of the state of Ukraine but a Washington’s song caught up by the Kiev regime. But the mere fact that [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensy and his team (al least, what has remained of it) don’t want any peace has been confirmed," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

Victoria police drop ‘incitement’ charges against Australian freedom activist Monica Smit

'The Director of Public Prosecutions has decided to discontinue the incitement charges on the basis that there is no longer a public interest in pursuing these matters,' Victoria Police said.

Victoria Police dropped charges of incitement against Australian freedom and pro-democracy activist Monica Smit on Monday, ending a ten-month legal battle with the police force.

Smit was arrested by Victoria Police last August on charges of incitement after resisting the draconian lockdown restrictions introduced by the Victorian government, purportedly on the basis of “protecting public health.” She was subject to punishing bail conditions, which she refused to sign, leading to a three-week stint in solitary confinement at a maximum-security prison.

On Monday morning, however, Smit received an email from Victoria Police confirming that they would no longer pursue incitement charges against her.

According to Kaiser Health News (KHN),1 the COVID-19 pandemic has been a real boon to Pfizer. Not only has it yielded “outsize benefits” in terms of profits, but it has also “given the drugmaker unusual weight in determining U.S. health policy.”

“Based on internal research, the company’s executives have frequently announced the next stage in the fight against the pandemic before government officials have had time to study the issue, annoying many experts in the medical field and leaving some patients unsure whom to trust,” KHN reporter Arthur Allen writes, adding:2

“When last year Bourla suggested that a booster shot would soon be needed, U.S. public health officials later followed, giving the impression that Pfizer was calling the tune.

Some public health experts and scientists worry these decisions were hasty, noting, for example, that although boosters with the mRNA shots produced by Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech improve antibody protection initially, it generally doesn’t last.

Since January, Bourla has been saying that U.S. adults will probably all need annual booster shots, and senior FDA officials have indicated since April that they agree … The company’s power worries some vaccinologists, who see its growing influence in a realm of medical decision-making traditionally led by independent experts …

When President Biden in September 2021 offered boosters to Americans — not long after [Pfizer CEO Albert] Bourla had recommended them — Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia … wondered, ‘Where’s the evidence you are at risk of serious disease when confronted with COVID if you are vaccinated and under 50?’

Policies on booster recommendations for different groups are complex and shifting, Offit said, but the CDC, rather than Bourla and Pfizer, should be making them. ‘We’re being pushed along,’ he said. ‘The pharmaceutical companies are acting like public health agencies.’”

A Trump-appointed judge in Tennessee temporarily blocked Biden’s woke LGBTQ policy on Friday, including transgender workers and students to use gender-appropriate bathrooms, and participate in sports teams, Reuters reported.

U.S. District Judge Charles Atchley Jr. ruled in favor of the 20 state attorneys general who sued the Biden administration saying the directives infringe on states’ freedom to establish laws governing transgender.

Dr. Levine was one of the health care leaders who delivered remarks on climate change on Monday.

“The federal government is full speed ahead to confront the climate change emergency. At the Department of Health and Human Services, we are focused on its catastrophic and chronic threats to health,” Levine said.

“We really want to base our treatment and to affirm and to support and empower these youth, not to limit their participation in activities and sports and even limit their ability to get gender affirmation treatment in their state,” Dr. Levine said after a judge blocked Biden’s woke LGBTQ policy.

Last month Dr. Levine said sex reassignment surgery (castration) and puberty blockers (chemical castration) for KIDS is “lifesaving, medically necessary, age appropriate, and a critical tool.”

US author Stephen King has been duped by Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus into pledging the role of evil clown Pennywise to "Volodymyr Zelensky", while also praising Ukrainian neo-Nazi Stepan Bandera as a "great man".

Vovan and Lexus called King and introduced themselves as Ukrainian President Zelensky, asking the author to help in an "information war" and come up with a script about "cruel" Russians and innocent Azov Battalion fighters.

When "Zelensky" asked King to write "some kind of a scenario" in which Russian soldiers "rape" an Azov Battalion commander, the author said "we'll do everything we can", noting that he will "see" what he can personally do.

Next, the "Ukrainian president" told King that evil clown Pennywise from the US author’s infamous horror novel "It" is his "favorite hero". “Zelensky” asked the author to make sure he gets to portray him one day. While King was quick to correct "Zelensky" that Pennywise was in fact a bad guy, he agreed to help him get the role.

When "Zelensky" started to praise Bandera, saying that he remains a Ukrainian hero even though he "committed some crimes", including "crimes against Jews", King enthusiastically agreed.

Three former New South Wales MPs hit with criminal charges

Former New South Wales Labor ministers Eddie Obeid, Joe Tripodi and Tony Kelly have been hit with criminal charges after an investigation by the state's corruption watchdog that ended five years ago.

An inquiry recommended charges against the four men after finding they engaged in serious corrupt conduct in 2017

It’s the first time Mr Tripodi and Mr Kelly have faced criminal charges after the corruption findings made against them by the ICAC

Eddie Obeid is currently serving a jail sentence after being found guilty of a mine licence conspiracy

The men have been charged with "misconduct in public office, arising from Operation Credo", the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has confirmed.

Tony Kelly's former chief of staff, Laurie Brown, has also been charged with the same offence.

In 2017, an Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) inquiry recommended charges against the four men after finding they engaged in serious corrupt conduct.

The ICAC probe, known as Operation Credo, found Mr Kelly and Mr Tripodi used their ministerial positions to push for infrastructure company Australian Water Holdings to be awarded a lucrative government contract.

At the time, the watchdog said the contract could have financially benefited the Obeid family.
