For the purpose of the Promised Messiah, God chose Israel.
But once Jesus, the Promised Messiah, arrived, the leaders of the Jews denied Him.
He was rejected by the leaders of His own people.
The people who believed that Jesus was/is the Promised Messiah, call themselves Christians. Christians are now God's Chosen people. Some might have been Jews, some Gentiles.
