Mossad false flag on the way – another 9/11?

Wednesday’s report by corporate media outlet Yahoo News, outlining alleged plans by Iran to assassinate senior US officials, including former President Donald Trump, in retaliation for the January 2020 drone strike killing of Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s elite Quds Force unit, should come as little surprise to onlookers.

Indeed, following the assassination of the Iranian General, the Islamic Republic responded by firing a barrage of ballistic missiles at the US Ain al-Asad airbase in neighbouring Iraq, leaving 110 US servicemen with ‘traumatic brain injuries’ according to The White House, a euphemism for deaths according to Tehran.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi also reiterated in January of this year that unless Trump and then-US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are handed over for trial - an admittedly highly-unlikely scenario - that Tehran would pursue revenge through other means, leaving no doubt as to the lengths that the Islamic Republic is prepared to go in order to avenge its’ foremost military commander.

The timing of Wednesday’s ‘leak’ however, cannot be described as anything less than suspicious.

On the same day, US President Joe Biden marked his first official visit to the Middle East when he touched down in Israel, with "Tel Aviv" being a long-time opponent of Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution saw the US and UK-backed Shah Pahlavi overthrown and replaced with the anti-Western and anti-Zionist Ayatollah Khomeini.

The seemingly main theme of Biden’s fleeting visit to "Israel" was the containment of Iran within the region, with the US leader and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid signing a joint strategic declaration affirming that the Washington would use ‘all elements of its national power’ to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, in spite of the production of such weapons being strictly prohibited in the Islamic Republic owing to a fatwa issued by Ayatollah Khameni.

This markedly more belligerent tone that Biden has taken towards Iran as a result of his Israeli visit, and the ‘leaking’ of the alleged Iranian assassination plot on the same day, would suggest that the current US administration is now on a trajectory where conflict with Iran may become a distinct possibility, and that the aforementioned intelligence report may, in fact, be foreshadowing a false flag operation intended to create that very scenario.

Indeed, the involvement of Israeli intelligence in false flag operations intended to lead the United States into wars on behalf of "Israel" has a recent enough history.

On the morning of September 11th, 2001, as planes crashed into the World Trade Centre, a New Jersey housewife noticed another worrying sight from her apartment window.

Three young men, kneeling on the roof of a removals van in the apartment block’s car park, appeared to be in a celebratory mood in spite of the utter chaos unfolding in front of them, dancing and high-fiving each other and even taking photos as the Towers collapsed.

Reporting this incident as well the vehicle’s registration number to the authorities, the van would be stopped by armed police later that afternoon, with 5 men, aged between 22 and 27, detained.

To the puzzlement of authorities, the men turned out to be Israeli citizens, with the driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, announcing upon his arrest “We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem.”

In what would arouse suspicion even further from the arresting, $4,700 in cash was discovered on one of the men and two foreign passports were found on another. Box cutters similar to those used by the 9/11 hijackers were also found in the van, as well as traces of explosives.

Having obtained a warrant to search the premises of the men’s employer, Urban Moving System, the FBI would question the firm’s owner, Dominick Suter, also an Israeli citizen, who would initially cooperate with their inquiries before hastily leaving the United States three days later without carrying out a planned follow-up interview.

After 71 days in custody, and following an intervention from the then-Bush administration, the five men, who would become known as the Dancing Israelis, were released and deported back to Israel, where they would later confirm in an interview that they were intelligence operatives, part of a larger Mossad spy ring exposed after 9/11, sent to ‘document the event’.

Indeed, that very event would prove highly beneficial to Israeli interests, with 9/11 being used as the pretext to launch the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq that "Tel Aviv" had stringently lobbied for, the 2011 Syrian regime change operation also supported by Israel, and now, with the possibility that Mossad may stage a false flag operation in the US involving the assassination of senior US officials, a potential devastating war with Iran.

The opinions mentioned in this article do not necessarily reflect the opinion of Al mayadeen, but rather express the opinion of its writer exclusively.

>> Any other news outlet bold enough to report on this? Baker, you see this? Do you still doubt Mayadeen? This is a massive red pill.

Indian rupee hits new record low

The Indian rupee fell to more than 80 per US dollar for the first time in history on Tuesday, as the US dollar extended its rally and foreign capital outflows increased.

According to Bloomberg data, the rupee hit 80.0600 against the US dollar shortly after trading began, up from the previous close of 79.9775.

High inflation and rising interest rates in the United States, combined with concerns about an impending recession in the world's largest economy, have fueled a broad dollar rally in recent weeks as investors become more risk-averse.

Outflows from emerging markets such as India have been exacerbated by tighter US monetary policy, with foreign investors withdrawing a net $30.8 billion in debt and equity this year.

Data released last week showed that consumer price inflation in the US reached a new four-decade high in June, exceeding market expectations and fueling prospects of another significant Federal Reserve rate hike next week.

On her account, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman blamed the rupee's sharp decline on external factors in a written statement to the Indian parliament on Monday.

"Global factors such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, soaring crude oil prices and tightening of global financial conditions are the major reasons for the weakening of the Indian Rupee against the US dollar," she said.

After reaching an eight-year high of 7.79 percent in April, consumer price inflation in India, the world's sixth-largest economy, eased slightly to 7.01 percent in June.

Despite consecutive interest rate hikes in May and June, price increases have remained well above the central bank's two-to-six percent target range.

In an effort to stabilize the rupee, the central bank has also sold more than $34 billion in foreign currency reserves.

It is worth noting that the Sensex index in India opened lower but recovered to trade 0.17 percent higher on Tuesday morning.

Gazprom invests $40 bln in Iran oil sector

The National Iranian Oil Company signed Tuesday with Russian Gazprom a memorandum of understanding in the energy sector that includes Moscow investing $40 billion in developing the Kish gas field and the northern Fars oil field, increasing the production of the lower Fars gas field, and developing six Iranian oil fields.

The Iranian and Russian firms signed the biggest foreign investment deal in the Iranian economy, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

The Russians currently invest more than $4 billion in the Iranian oil industry, which is expected to see a ten-fold increase.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, revealed Monday that Russia handed Iran a draft agreement about comprehensive strategic joint cooperation between the two countries.

Putin is set to land in Iran today for talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan for a meeting on the Astana peace process.

Moscow, Tehran, and Ankara have been engaged in the Astana peace process for years now, a forum meant to bring to a close the war on Syria that has been raging on for more than 11 years.

Iranian-Russian relations and partnership have taken to new heights recently, especially in light of reciprocal visits, the signing of several agreements, and Tehran and Moscow seeing eye to eye on various issues.

Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said Monday that "Iran is an important partner of Russia. Relations are of a friendly nature, have a long history, and are developing very effectively in the widest range of areas. Both sides have plans to bring bilateral cooperation to a new level - the level of strategic partnership. A new interstate agreement is being prepared."

ACLU: DHS spent millions on phone location data

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) revealed in a report, on Monday, that the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had spent millions of dollars on mobile phone location data to track the activities of Americans and foreigners at US borders.

"The released records shine a light on the millions of taxpayer dollars DHS used to buy access to cell phone location information being aggregated and sold by two shadowy data brokers, Venntel and Babel Street," the report read.

Per the documents obtained by the ACLU through the Freedom of Information Act, the two companies and the government were attempting to "rationalize this unfettered sale." The DHS-purchased data enabled law enforcement to follow specific people or everyone in a specified region, identify their devices' positions at "places of interest," as well as learn about regular visitors, find patterns, and gather other crucial information. The ACLU claimed that officials were obtaining information on national security inadvertently.

"The government should not be allowed to purchase its way around bedrock constitutional protections against unreasonable searches of our private information," the report added.

The ACLU observed that both corporations and law enforcement organizations were attempting to defend their operations by claiming in papers that phone users freely gave their location data.

"Of course, that consent is a fiction: Many cell phone users don’t realize how many apps on their phones are collecting GPS information, and certainly don’t expect that data to be sold to the government in bulk," the report read.

Over 6,000 pages of information with roughly 336,000 location points gleaned from people's cell phones have been examined by the ACLU. According to the ACLU, a DHS internal memo from 2018 suggested utilizing the location data to determine trends in illegal immigration, which the group claims would "indiscriminately sweep in information about people going about their daily lives in border communities."

The ACLU asked the US Congress to demand an immediate end to this DHS behavior.

Sri Lankan opposition leader withdraws presidential candidacy

The main opposition leader in Sri Lanka, Sajith Premadasa, withdrew from the country's presidential election on Tuesday in favor of a ruling party dissident.

Just a few minutes before nominations formally opened, Premadasa tweeted that his party will support Dullas Alahapperuma, a former media minister, to replace Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who resigned last week, "for the greater good of my country that I love and the people I cherish."

After the withdrawal of main Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Marxist JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Dullas Alahapperuma, and a breakaway SLPP candidate are the three leaders who will run for Sri Lanka’s presidential elections.

On Monday, Sri Lanka's acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe declared a state of emergency as per a government notice which was released late on Sunday and reported by local media.

It is worth noting that Wickremesinghe has already declared a state of emergency last week after ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country, but it is unclear whether the order was withdrawn or lapsed.

While the current regulation's specifics have yet to be declared, previous emergency powers have been put into force to deploy the military to arrest and detain people, search private property, and quell protests.

Sri Lanka is set to elect a president this week, with parliament members set to hear presidential nominations on Tuesday.

The country has been facing a severe shortage of fuel, medicine, food, as well as record inflation rates.

As a result, the public outpoured rage and resentment toward the political leadership led President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to flee the country, submitting his resignation letter to parliament, which accepted it on Friday.

Simultaneously, Wickremesinghe was sworn in as interim president after serving as prime minister.
